The buck's ankle had finally healed from his encounter with a very angry stoat and he was taking advantage of his ability to wander for long periods of time by walking aimlessly around the swamp. The sun fell softly against his fur as he ambled along, listening to the birds and they chirped and frolicked through the trees. Sniffing some flowers as he passed he watched a few birds hop along the ground before stepping forward slowly. Startled, they flew up into the air before continuing their talk from the trees. Smiling he continued to wander, taking in the sights and sounds as the sun rose above the horizon. There seemed to be birds everywhere, and the chirping only grew louder as time went on. Shadowed Moon constantly startled birds from the ground, and would watch as they flew back up into the trees or would simply perch on nearby rocks and peep at him. He couldn't help but chuckle each time, as they seemed to indignant to being forced to move, hoping back and forth like they wanted a fight. They didn't stop flying away though if he got to close.
The chirping continued throughout the day, it seems the birds were quite content to chirp from morning to night, though he wouldn't know for sure until it passed noon if that were really true. Eventually he though he heard an odd discord in the noise, something that didn't quite fit. Listening carefully he began to approach the sound, curious, but still wary of sticking his noise where it didn't belong. His no longer swollen ankle told him that might not be the best idea. Approaching the noise he finally got close enough to hear it. It was definitely another bird, but this one almost seemed to be whimpering. Hurrying closer he watched as the birds along the group flew up into the air, leaving one behind. It hoped desperately, but to no avail. It's wing stuck out at an odd angle and didn't seem to want to move either out or back into place. The bird made a few scared chirps and hoped away from him. The buck pauses and the bird continued to stare. He wasn't really sure what to do in this situation. After all, what experience did he have with birds?

Following his songbird, the buck figured something sweet was ahead. Normally it led him to the good stuff, but this time he was going through a large flock of them. What was going on? Normally they were a bit more settled. Glancing around, he wondered if something was amiss. Wind Petals was surprised to find another buck standing near a bird that seemed like it couldn't fly. He wanted to charge, but feared it would cause more harm to the bird. A small flap along his shoulder told him Down Wind was there. "Did you injury that bird or find it?"

Shadowed Moon jumped, having been distracted by this thoughts he hadn't noticed the other buck approaching. He turned to the other buck and looked almost hurt at the accusation. "I didn't injure it!" He said quickly. "I was trying to figure out how to help it." Glancing back down at the bird his gaze returned to the buck. "I found it." The blue buck added, answering the question he'd been asked earlier. "But I have no idea how to deal with birds, no one in my herd has one so I've never had much experience with them."
He looked at the other buck, who's songbird was now sitting on his shoulder. "Would you know something about them?" Shadowed Moon asked tentatively. He didn't want to assume anything, not everyone who had a pet knew everything about the animal. He knew almost nothing about mongooses and yet he had one. The injured songbird chirped weakly, lightly trying to flap it's wing to no avail. It whimpered at the effort. Shadowed Moon turned to the other buck, waiting for the answer.

Watching the reaction he started to feel bad for just assuming that another just injured a bird. He looked down at the bird as it chirped. The wing looked pretty bad, and even he wasn't sure they could fix it. "I haven't worked with injured birds before." Wind looked at his who just peered at the bucks. He bowed his head, "I meant no disrespect, but I couldn't tell at first."
Watching the bird trying to move the wing, it made the helpful buck cringe inside. It was a lot to try and work with a primary way of movement. "Maybe we can calm the bird first and look at that wing." Trying to figure out what to do with it from there, well that would take seeing if it was broken or see if something was just stuck. Though if something was stuck that would be tricky to find without help. "And we just might have a little bit of help." He gave his songbird a grin that spoke volumes, of course the bird would have to understand exactly what it was to do. "With some help, maybe? Down Wind here isn't the smartest bird around, but he will help." Shaking out his tail, a few favorites items dropped for said bird and the injured one by the blue buck.

Shadowed Moon nodded, seems like neither of them really knew what to do. When the buck apologized he simply shook his head. "No, I can see why this might have looked strange..." Glancing down at the bird as it made a few weak little chirps he turned back to the other buck when he began to speak. Shadowed Moon has no suggestions, but the other buck seemed to have something in mind for calming the bird, so he let him speak. He smiled lightly as the buck grinned at his songbird, they seemed to have a wonderful relationship. Watching the buck shake out his tail he was confused until he saw seeds fall out onto the ground. That made much more sense now, it would obviously attract the bird.
"Ah." He said suddenly, watching Down Wind hop onto the ground and chirp a few times before picking up and eating a seed. The other bird peeped lightly, which caused Down Wind to look over and chirp in response. He then ate another seed. The injured bird peeped a few more times as Down Wind continued to chirp and eat seeds one by one. Finally, the injured bird began hoping over, peeping pitifully as it approached the seeds and chirped. It watched the two bucks tentatively before slowly picking up a seed and eating it. After that the bird seemed to decide the seeds beat out the large things around it and peeped once before eating another seed. While he wasn't quite placed to see what was wrong with the bird, it had looked like it had a stick of some kind shoved in it's wing when he'd watched it hop by.

With nothing from the blue buck, Wind Petals was glad he drop his tail into some of the plants around, gathering seeds that way. As the injured bird hobbled over, he kicked himself for not bringing the seeds closer. It figured that he would screw something up like this. Letting the bird get used to having both bucks so close while eating, the mostly white buck decided to make a little polite conversation and allowing him to see what it was sticking out of the wing. "How did you come about this bird? I have yet to find some acting like this, yet alone a large flock."
He glanced back down at the birds, amazed that Down Wind was sharing so much with the other. His flying companion wasn't much for sharing, but he had a heart that sometimes would win out. Just as his head turned to look at Shadowed Moon, a startled peep came out of the birds. Wind snapped his head back to get after his bird, knowing that he had to of done something. The greedy songbird had done something alright. He had pulled the stick out further from the other bird. "It seems we have an answer to the injured one." Looking between the birds and buck, Wind continued on. "Do you think he can be taken to a better kin to help pull the stick out more? Or would you rather us try?"
