The sound of seeds clinked throughout the casino as citizens gambled away their earnings. Nothing was really rigged. Not too much at least. Some had to win to keep more people coming in after all.

The back of the casino, where no patrons were allowed, was where other business was conducted. There was a smokey sort of haze in the room and a subtle scent of burning that persisted. It was a luxurious sort of area, if it weren't for a few scorch marks here and there on the furnishings. A small bar was off to the side, where drinks were being served. Music was softly playing and the sounds of the crowds in the main part of the casino were but a muffle. Several monitors were in the room, showing various parts of the casino floor. Just to keep an eye out for trouble. There were a number of people here, doing an assortment of different things. Some were just mingling while others were doing work, apparently.

One small group seemed to be tinkering with some sort of device. Another pair were scouring through some pages and spreadsheets on a few computers.

"Rodney Scurvey still owes us fifty," one at a computer muttered. Another frowned and replied, "Still? Man likes to live on the edge huh? He ain't gonna get many more chances."

Off on his own, a large orange skinned demon lounged on a couch, with a tablet in his clawed hands. He adjusted his spectacles as he read over the contents currently displayed on the screen.

She strolled past the packs of huddled underlings with a confidence she had earned. Keeping the position of lieutenant for Malocchio for as long as she had was not an easy task, and Kayu was very proud of all she had accomplished and all she would continue to until the day she was blown up. The bat perched on her shoulder shot the creatures she passed plenty of dirty looks, but the reaper herself only wore careful masks of either polite indifference or encouragement. She was ambitious; that didn't mean she had to be rude. Her position was secure enough for the moment, but all it had taken was a hasty plan and a little bit of luck to depose her predecessor. If someone was determined enough to take her down, at least she wouldn't be on their bad side when they did.

The smile she gave the computer grunts was slightly more genuine than any others she had produced today. "Scurvey thinks he likes to live on the edge," Kayu said, voice pitched so only those closest to her could hear. "He won't like the edge so much when he's dangling off of it." As she took a seat near an unused laptop, she glanced at the solitary asmodeus and nodded faintly. Even with his face in that tablet, she was fairly certain he knew exactly what everyone in the room was doing, including her.

The one underling that had commented soon grinned up at Kayu.

"Yeah, I'll bet on that," he replied before sifting back through the databases for what payments had been received, "Though I guess it's more likely he'd get blasted off of it, really."

Over on the couch, Battista skimmed through the contents of the tablet some more. Catching Kayu's nod, he returned the gesture before tossing the device over in her direction.

"Kayu! Tell me what you think of this information. Gregor dug up some s**t on the Avarice Ring. Seems it does exist after all. Maybe. What d'ya think. Does it look legit?" he asked; his voice rough and gravely.

It was true. Their boss did enjoy his bombs.

Even though she had turned back slightly to watch the grunts, she was still conscious of Battista's movements and she caught his tablet with a sweep of her arm. She had heard of the Avarice Ring before—there was no way she could have avoided hearing about it working here—but none of the leads they'd ever even tried to follow had produced anything other than immediate frustration. This information looked more believable than any other intel they'd come across, but really, that wasn't hard.

"It couldn't hurt to follow up," she replied, passing the tablet back. As much as she would love to see power like that in the hands of Malocchio, it wouldn't do to get everyone's hopes up. Someone had to have a cool head around here. "Send in a few guys to see if it's a trap first. Of course."

Battista scratched his chin in thought before taking the tablet back.

"Hm. Yes. Good plan. Seems weird though, don't you think? Something like that hiding under Amityville Academy of all places? " he mused while examining the info once more. He adjusted his glasses, before grinning. The demon turned and pointed towards two of his underlings that were just loafing around more or less.

"List! Hatchet! You two go scout it out. Try not to get noticed, would ya?"

His attention went back to Kayu.

"If it turns out clean, we'll start prepping for an operation."
