There was something to be said for missing an entire two years of school. That thing to be said was don't do it. Amrita was already so big now and he was so far behind. He still barely knew how to read and he was lucky that they'd kept his dorm for him.

He hadn't even needed to grovel.

However, Aurel did know that he had a lot of work to do in order to even begin to catch up. He had Amrita to help - thank Jack - but he wasn't going to be able to ride her coat tails everywhere. She could not be his only friend again. This time he was off to a better start. He had the sword boy that he'd met in the woods and he had Sparrow, too. This time the Leshy was going to try harder and meet people despite being eternally an awkward turtle.

The Leshy leaned heavily against the tree behind him and closed his eyes, reaching behind him to briefly pat at the bark as if it were his pet. They had an understanding, him and trees. "Yes," he grunted, "I know."

The conversation that transpired was brief and seemingly one sided but his eyes popped open again and he hunched himself over to open his book and stare at the words there instead of the sky. It just so happened to be a botany book - which was weird, because he knew plants better than just about anything but he could only read a good two thirds of the words there without stopping and scratching his head to continue.

Ugh. Books.

Ah, books. They were a plethora of knowledge, and knowledge was one thing that TK could never get enough of. His family were more interested in carnal desires, in satisfying the eternal hunger screaming in their stomachs, but he had always been more keen about indulging his need for information. It had been his prime motivation to applying and attending Amity, and to say the least he was not disappointed in the slightest. The school library was much more vast and varied than the meager collection he had at home. Plus, the school seemed to be crawling with mysteries and unusual events. He could vaguely recall his trip into an alternate world where he ventured through different areas. His eyes glowed gold as usual, but everyone around him had appeared much more monochrome than they should have been.

Amity was infested with unusual phenomena, and TK intended to observe each and every incident. He had heard murmurings of a recent event, a dream of sorts? It was a shame the skeleton had a strong disposition to not dream. TK would have gladly partaken in the shared dream if he could have, but alas. He would have to research it on his lonesome and without context.

For now, the skeleton attempted to peruse through old human folklore. Perhaps it would yield something useful. He was particularly good at researching.

…though the boil in front of him appeared to be the opposite. “…” Preference told him to continue his work, but obligation as a second year student and RA forced him to speak up with a polite smile. “Do you need assistance?”
