He hadn't even needed to grovel.
However, Aurel did know that he had a lot of work to do in order to even begin to catch up. He had Amrita to help - thank Jack - but he wasn't going to be able to ride her coat tails everywhere. She could not be his only friend again. This time he was off to a better start. He had the sword boy that he'd met in the woods and he had Sparrow, too. This time the Leshy was going to try harder and meet people despite being eternally an awkward turtle.
The Leshy leaned heavily against the tree behind him and closed his eyes, reaching behind him to briefly pat at the bark as if it were his pet. They had an understanding, him and trees. "Yes," he grunted, "I know."
The conversation that transpired was brief and seemingly one sided but his eyes popped open again and he hunched himself over to open his book and stare at the words there instead of the sky. It just so happened to be a botany book - which was weird, because he knew plants better than just about anything but he could only read a good two thirds of the words there without stopping and scratching his head to continue.
Ugh. Books.
