Her morning had started off uneventful. Xander softly pecking at her ear to get her up and about in the early dawn. Of course, such things were against Nise-e’s desires on a Saturday. But of course Xander would have none of that, and as his pecking got more and more constant and annoying against the inside of her ear Nise-e had lifted her head and gave in. Her time here had been short but lovely. Everyone was friendly and open. It reminded her of her family down on the lower half of the mountains. She missed them for sure, but she was ready to strike out on her own, and so she did.
The day had been so calm and peaceful, so warm and cozy. And then the darkness came, startling everyone within her new herd. At first she didn’t see much, just a flash over the newly risen sun, casting an ominous shadow. There wasn’t supposed to be any rain. And when she looked up and over to the delicately hidden path, the only way in an out of the Thunderbird Herdlands by hoove, came the chaos. Came the darkness.
And she was terrified.
Reeling back as mutants of all sizes and shapes flooded into the beautiful valley and trees panic overtook her. What was this?! No non-winged creature was supposed to get up here! They all reminded her of her nightmares.
“Mistress! Run!” came Xander’s cry from above as he swooped down to meet her.
“What’s going on?!” Nise-e yelled back stumbling hoof over hoof to find a place to hide.
“Hellions have come to kill, to take the Alpha and Protector’s lands from them. You have to hide! Now!”
Nise-e didn’t have to be told twice. Twisting she took off towards the shadows. But in reality, who could hide in the shadows when these creatures were from the shadows themselves. It didn’t matter. She had to hide somewhere. Hightailing it past herd member after herd member, Xander closely behind, Nise-e fled as fast as she could. She was of no use in fighting. She was too gentle, and in Xander’s mind, to naïve.
Skidding to a halt for a brief moment to catch her breath Nise-e realized that Xander wasn’t behind her anymore. Oh god, had someone gotten to him?
“Xander!” she called out panicked.
Her eyes frantically scanned the area trying to find her glowing familiar and best friend.
“Xander!!”
---
Xander had every intention of staying close to his mistress, to his best friend since she was a small filly in her basket. But when he saw a brute of a kalona bull heading towards those who he now came to call friends and comrades, Xander felt himself swirling around to help. He had to do something for the ones who took him and Nise-e in, welcoming them with open arms. Zooming towards the enemy, his talons locked on gouging out the intruders eyes, Xander squawked loudly.
“You have no business here demon!”
Kamiki For Diogenes. Feel free to almost kill Xander. It'll help Nise-e plot wise.
Personal Note I hope that's everyone involved with that particular scene. lol

CitrusCupcake Shinoma (not directly addressed, but I think she's nearby)
Diogenes thrashed his head as he prepared for impact. He growled as Leonhart jumped up and took to the air before he could feel his horns meet his flesh. He skidded to a stop, hoping to have used Leonhart's body to break his fall, and a cloud of dust exploded into the air.
He snorted, the fur on his shoulders standing on edge. It was always a bit of a sore spot for him; his lack of wings. Both is parents had wings...so he should, too. But no, instead he only had those murderous, silver spikes.
His eyes narrowed on Gabrielle, and he stamped the ground, ready to attack again.
He roared when he felt Leonhart's hooves make impact on his back flank, splitting the skin. He felt the blood began to trickle down his leg, but he was already raging. He lurked himself towards Gabrielle, lowering his head again.
But before he got very far, a blue flutter of feathers exploded into his fields of vision. A hawk had put itself right between him and the mare. He stomped mid-charge and reared up, whipping his horns. He felt the body of the bird get caught between the long spirals of his horns; impaled or just trapped he wasn't sure, but he didn't think it would matter.
He flung the beast to the ground and kicked it out of his way like a nuisance.

Frost wasn't used to battle or used to violence, but the world was shattering around him. He hadn't been in this place for too long, but regardless he still considered his his home, and he would not tolerate it being attacked.
He had taken to the wing at the first tremor of trouble. He frantically looked around the lands, and began to fly in circles, wondering where to start.
Above all the calamity, he heard the faint calling of this sister's distressed voice, and his heart seemed to freeze in his chest. He spun around in the air and bee-lined towards the calling of his name. His mate, Cataclysm, was a fierce and strong mare; his sister....not so much.
"Leave her alone," he bellowed at the creepy mare that was taunting her; landing heavy by her side.

Note: Taraxippus is maxed out
For a moment, Taraxippus was caught off guard as a soquili seemed to appear out of nowhere and materalize behind him. He spun, ears flattened and his heart racing. Despite being the leader of this attack and not some foot soldier, he was eager to prove that he was no mere figurehead, that he was a commander that fought alongside his troops.
But when he saw who it was - Arcana: precious, delicate little nervous Arcana, he couldn't disguise his disdainful laughter.
"Ohhhh, 'little sister'. This is where you ran off to." He chuckled darkly as he lowered his horn towards her. How many times had he been aggravated and frustrated with the incompetant little filly growing up. How satisfying had it been when he discovered that they weren't REALLY related. Had he found out sooner, he was certain Father woudlnt make him suffer her presence.
And now.... now here they were. Just the two of them.
"How appropriate is it you found solace in this joke of a herd, Arcana. Soon, this land will be OURS and you will regret leaving."

Note: Arcana is maxed out "NO!" She shouted again, her fear resolving into absolute fury. Taraxippus and Anju - even years after she left their herd still found their way to her nightmares some times. He would not continue to haunt her. She would face her fears - her past - here and now. He would NOT take this home from her as well.
She stamped her silvery hoof and lowered her own horn. And squeezing her eyes shut, she charged.
For a split second, Taraxippus seemed surprised and unprepared. He had never seen Arcana with such fire.
But it was still Arcana. He sidestepped, his ephemeral shadows and slender form making it a relatively simple task - especially with her eyes shut.
But as she passed by him and realized she had missed, Arcana's training from years ago kicked in - literally. She barely remembered and had tried to distance herself from anything with her upbringign, but muscle memory was a tenacious thing. She kicked back as she passed - and any horse's kick, even a diminutive mare like Arcana - packed a punch.
Her hoof found its mark on Taraxippus's ribs and made a satisfying THUNK as Taraxippus reeled back with surprise. Arcana might have been small, but for all of Taraxippus's brilliance, and as much as his slender, shadowy form made stealth simple... his secret was that he was not very tough.
His eyes widened and then narrowed in fury as his weakling little sister DARED to bite back.

The spotted stallion's panicked mind managed to find a solution to his plight and as he reared up and flared his wings, pairing it with a hard blow of his front hooves: it dislodged Lamia's bony deathgrip on his shoulder and delivered a few parting blows to boot. She fell back several paces, flapping her bony wings for stablization as she caught herself from outright falling over.
But Aspen's successful disengaging did not come without a price. Lamia's grip was vicelike, and as he drove her back, she took with her the chunk of his shoulder that she had her teeth around.
As she caught herself on her four hooves, she chewed, a sick, moist noise as she met the stallion's green eyes with her glowing embers. "Delicious." She crooned. "Not as sweet, not as tender as foalflesh... but I suppose you will have to do."
She was about to charge him for seconds when a dark mare landed between them. She was older - she could tell by her scent - and her ears laid back. Old and tough, no doubt. No good. No good at all.
"I did not come for you she seethed. "But I shall take my consolation out in your flesh!" She lunged for her, teeth bared and hungry for more.

Before Kamiki even knew what was really happening, chaos was echoing through the herdlands. She jumped up from her trinket-making in a panic. Soquili - Thunderbirds and monsters - were rushing in - bodies flying and impacting to and fro. She looked around panic, huddling next to her mate, Azure. "What do we do?" she asked, feeling helpless.
Out of the corner of her eye, in the distance, she saw a swirl of blue and silver clashing with a massive shadow. "Arcana!" she yelled, rushing out to meet her daughter who seemed in peril.
Azure was just as lost as his mate. This was his home - the place he had willingly given up his carefree life with his best friend, Narci, to settle down with Kamiki and his children. It was everything to him, and now here he was - expected to defend it.
And defend it he would.
He was just a small flutter...he knew he never quite fit in the way his feathered winged contemporaries did. But he wasn't going to let that stop him. "Kamki!" he called after his mate. He screwed his courage to the sticking place and ran as fast as his small legs would carry him; running with Kamiki to intervene in the clash between his once-estranged daughter and the beast that was attacking her.
While Kamiki had stopped near her daughter, Azure didn't waste time with defense. He slammed his small body as hard as he could muster against the shadowy beast.

Note: Cataclysm is already maxed in stats. Cataclysm could smell the blood in the air, which only made her blood boil hotter. "Make peace with your gods," she bellowed, puffing out her chest. "You will never be leaving this place," she seethed. She braced herself for impact, knowing the mare was going to hit her hard. She dug her hooves into the ground and pressed her wings tightly to her body. Just before the skeletal mare hit, she turned her broad side of her body towards her, trying to take the brunt of the force. As soon as she felt the impact, he reared up on her legs, trying to knock the mare to the ground (even if it took her with her).
Tisiphone had been frantically searching for her daughter. While she had no real desire to fight, she wouldn't have any harm come to them. There was battle raging all around, but her daughter was hard to miss - a flaming beacon. She was in a fight with two of the winged ones, and she dug in her skeletal hooves to join.
When she got there, Lamia had already taken a chunk out of the spotted one. A stronger-looking mare had joined in, and was focusing her attention on Lamia now. Tisiphone decided to try and keep the spotty one from joining the fray. She ran in front of him and spread her bony wings menacingly.

sabin duvert Heading towards the Stormfall/Infernem/Megaera/Legion/Rephain conflict, but isn't getting directly involved yet
So much noise.
Calliope was already nervous about leaving the herdlands on her gathering quest, but now....now it was like the sky was exploding.
The wings were whipping around her, knocking her small flutter body around as she wandered around lost and confused. She didn't know what to do!
Her eyes scanned the ground for her Daddy, but she couldn't find him. She was too afraid to land, certain that one of the monsters would catch her.
Her brilliantly colored wings flapped as frightened, helpless tears began to spring from her eyes.
Legion's 360 degree vision caught a glimpse of a flash of color in the air. A little broken butterfly; lost and helpless looking fluttered around on the wind, coming in their direction. Though he was already entrenched in battle, he felt his eyes drawn to the color. Like a predator that sees easy prey, his heart sped up. He wasn't above picking off the little ones; after all...he wasn't built for battle. But if he could kill this little weakling before she engaged anyone else...
....well know one else would know how good (or easy) of a combatant she was.
Licking his chops madly, Legion spread his fearsome wings and launched himself into the air. He wasn't the mostly apt flyer, but he should certainly be able to intercept a little flutter...

And in a heartbeat, even as Aspen knocked the bony mare back, he felt a new level of pain as a piece of his shoulder was torn from him with a spray of blood. He staggered backwards, uneasy on his hooves as his shoulder screamed in pain and blood flowed freely down his leg. His vision swam as he watched, with a lurching stomach, the mare chewing and swallowing.
And she turned to attack again. Fear lanced through the stallion. He wasn't sure if he could deflect her once more.
But then Cataclysm - the daughter of the alphas and a mare that he had grown up knowing to be a powerful, formidible herdmember landed between them and relief flooded through him. "Cata.... cataclysm.." he spluttered with a weak smile, "Thank the spirits!"
But the words were cut short as another flaming, skeletal mare arrived - looking disturbingly like the first one. His blood ran cold and he swayed on his hooves as she ran for him.
The blood had already been draining from him, and his mind felt loopy and slow. But he wouldn't run. This was his home. Weakly, he reared and jabbed out with his good foreleg.
Kamiki trying to hit tisiphone, but he's really drained right now
