{PRP} When Wishes Come True (Pavlov & Zahavah and Babies!)

"Sooo boring!" Akis teased. Nonetheless, she forced herself to slow down. A bit. She focused on taking one wobbly step and then another. This was slow! But she refused to lose to her sister. Much as she loved the dark filly, she decided she didn’t like to lose, even to Addy.

Zahavah chuckled as she followed them at a slightly more sedate pace.

Adalind beamed at Akis, "I think Grimm beats us both in speed! I didn't know anything could go so fast!" She considered trying to hop like the rabbit, thinking maybe that was the key to his success, but she didn't like the idea of falling flat on her face, so she kept her steady pace - only pushing herself a little, though she was starting to feel very tired. Walking was hard work!

"Well, rabbits are known to be quick," Pavlov tried to offer helpfully. He quickened his pace a bit so that he was practically shadowing the two fillies, trying to stay between them and ready to catch either if they began to tumble. He was especially concerned about Adalind and those horns of hers. Form the corner of his eye he could just make out Grimm up ahead, rolling his golden eyes at the over-protective stallion

Zahavah grinned at her overprotective mate. He was almost as cute as the little ones, with his fussing and hovering. Who knew he'd be such an entertaining daddy?

Akis did what she could to stay just a couple inches ahead of her sister, though with Pavlov picking up his pace, she wondered if he was getting into the race. That didn't seem like it'd be fair! After all, his legs were almost as long as she was tall! He'd win hands down! Still, if her sister didn't seem concerned, then maybe there was nothing to be worried about. She fixed her gaze on the speedy little rabbit and, not realizing she was echoing Addy's thoughts, wondered if she should try hopping. Unlike Addy, however, she didn't think better of it. Oh no, Akis found no shame in falling flat on her face. She crouched a bit and then tried to spring body forward. She landed on wobbly legs and with a little poof of dust. However, for the first time in her brief life... she didn't fall flat. She grinned and took another hop.

Pavlov's heart had shuddered a bit as Akis tried jumping but he was relieved as she managed herself without a problem. The stallion was so focuses on the foals that he didn't realize his visions were absent...or if they were present he didn't have time to deal with those things at this moment.

Adalind giggled as her sister bounced and attempted to bound after her, only to unsteadily fall against her father. Some reward for her efforts, "How does Grimm make that look so easy?" She wondered out loud. "Has he always bounced like that?"

"No," Zahavah said, confidently, "He was a baby just like you, and he didn't hop so well then. But he got better with practice, just like you will."

Practice? Akis beamed and took another shaky bounce. “You mean we can hop like Grimm if we practice a lot?” she asked, eagerly. She liked this idea. Did that mean that anything could be done if they had practice?

Adalind looked between her sister and Grimm and grinned, "I think that's exactly what they're saying!" And crouched down and sprung up on her wobbly legs only to tumble to the ground.

"Take it easy, Addy," Pavlvo said rushing to help the foal to her feet. "How about we focus on walking first for a while...say the next month or two..."

Akis grinned and tried hopping again, only to stumble. But hey! At least she didn't fall on her face! Progress!

Zahavah laughed a bit. "They're fine, Pav! They're just playing!"

Pavlov winced, "But they could get hurt..." It wasn't that he was overprotective, but he just didn't want his children to get hurt, to suffer - not the way he suffered.

Adalind's tail swished back and forth rapidly in excitement. Not one to be outdone by her sister she too took a small leap on her wobbly legs and tumbled head over hooves back to the ground. But she shook her head and pushed herself back to her feet.

"A little bit of hurt is good," Zahavah reassured the larger stallion, nudging him lightly with her shoulder. "It helps them learn, teaches them what to do and not to do, and helps them decide what's WORTH doing. We just gotta make sure they don't get so hurt they won't try anything new ever again."

Akis giggled when her sister tumbled head over tail. "You can do it!" she cheered. She took a little hop of her own. This time she only wobbled a bit. She waited until she had regained her balance before trying for a third hop.

"I thought that was Our job," Pavlov whispered back with only a hint of panic in his voice. "I mean, the spirits were good enough, gracious enough to trust us with these baskets..." More than baskets now, these were babies and they came with an enormous responsibility. "I still don't want to let them down," although he wasn't entirely sure if he was talking about the spirits or the girls. A little of both, honestly.

Adalind giggled as Grimm came to her rescue, pushing her legs back under her as she grew wobbly again. "Wait up, Akis!" she called totting after her sister.

"Gotta be faster than that!" Akis giggled, but she did pause, taking the chance to regain her balance.

"The spirits blessed us," Zahavah agreed with a bright smile. "Which means they trust us to do what we know is best." There was absolutely no doubt in her mind that they were going to be good parents. After all, the star wouldn't have given them children if they weren't worthy.

Adalind grinned and totted after her sister, "Just you wait! We'll be racing over these hills in no time!"

"...are you sure the stars don't make mistakes?" Pavlov asked with a nervous chuckle. He certainly didn't feel like he could handle anything that the spirits and the stars threw at him. He could barely keep himself together on most days, but he was willing to try.

Akis giggled as she half bounced, half ran to stay a few steps ahead of Addy. "Why wait? Let's do it now!"

"Stay in the meadow girls," Zahavah called, a tiny twinge of concern weaving its way through her confidence. She thought Pavlov was overreacting, like he usually did, but that didn't mean that the day old foals were ready to go hopping off into the woods. At least not alone. She considered for a second, then added, "Unless Grimm is with you." To Pavlov, she smiled brightly. "Trust me, Pav. We got this!"

Never one to back down from a challenge, Adalind followed after his sister eagerly - naturally being sure to mind her mother's words and keep Grimm close by as well, "Sounds like fun!"

"I suppose," he said slowly, not fully embracing the idea that they might have been meant to be parents, but on the other hoof - the baskets were there, they'd popped, and now it was up to them. They would have to do the best that they could. "But do we have to trust Grimm with them?"

Like her sister, Akis tried to keep one eye on Grimm. Unfortunately, her coordination was not at the point where she could take any of her attention off of what she was doing. When she wasn't looking, she crossed one ankle into the path of her other and tumbled. "Oomph!"

"Why not?" Zahavah asked, watching to make sure Akis wasn't seriously hurt. "He watches out for you, doesn't he? Besides, the girls like him, and he's quick. If he comes up against something he can't handle, he can zip along and fetch me."
