Awan walked the bank, hooves uncomfortable on the dried, cracked dirt beneath them. He preferred it uneven and sloppy, without the risk of chipping his hooves. He was coming to the mountain path when the giant shadow engulfed him, in the moment he believed the moon had eaten the sun again and though he had been told he wasn't to look at the lovers, he did so in chance. Only to find that the legendary lovers hadn't actually been united but instead he sought the sight of a dragoness, easily mistaken for a kalona from where he stood.
He knew they were violent creatures and so long as he stuck to his own, they usually passed him by and left his animal prey solely to him. He snorted, wondering if this one had other ideas. Hoping it would move quietly on and grow bored, he stood there, flicking his tail irritably side to side and waited for the shadow to vanish. His stare less than amused.

"Fantastic." He muttered to himself watching as the she kalona moved in on his position. Standing there, not doing anything usually made the predators disinterested in him, yet this one had taken it as an opposite approach. Now that social interaction he could remember was turning in to a present situation. He would rather those remained memories. Narrowing his brows so they met in the middle he continued to stare at the creature when she landed. His lips falling lop-sided in to one troubled frown.
It wasn't what she was that was so much the problem. It was the fact she was something other than an animal he could make in to a trophy. He eyed her magnificent fangs and huge leathery wings. Taking next to the scales she was plagued with. Now her body, without admitting it, he would kill, even die to have. His expression had even relaxed as he admired her natural structure. When she folded her wings, it made his eyes snap to hers, tilted off to one side. "Yes, you're in my way." He grunted, pushing heavily in her direction to give her an awkward shove. Unfortunately as he pushed past her, he hadn't foreseen the miniature spikes on her folded wings which soon gave him a painful shock.

Wincing, he paused in his steps, lifting up his front leg. Twisting his head to the side, he noted where the throbbing was coming from and could see several open wounds seeping with fresh blood. He lifted his eyes to the creature and beyond being strong, keeping her own when he forced his way past, she was stubborn. That wasn't the most surprising thing to him either, the fact she had cause to use tongue instead of violence puzzled him.
Settling his gaze, he huffed. "How do you know I wasn't going anywhere? Can you read my thoughts?" He lifted a questionable brow. "No?" His voice was full of arrogance. "Jerk? I'm so offended." He rolled his eyes, letting out a small, deep, amused chuckle. "Is that all you have to offer? How have you even survived this long as a kalona, others would have spat on you in disgust and fed you to their young if they knew words like jerk were being thrown around."

Awan could see the mare was getting riled up, something he had said was causing her to rage at him. A touchy subject, now she was spilling her issues all over him like rainbow vomit. To make matters worse, he was smirking, amused at her ramblings. He was alone, that was true, he wasn't always alone... He just realised it was better simply living this way.
"People can judge and think what they like of me lady, I couldn't care less. Those that have come across my path have been nothing but pathetic, insignificant creatures. Lost, fickle, in need of attention and love to merely go on living." He gave a snort and straightened his head back in alignment with his body once again. Having to roll his shoulders to iron out the ache from having it twisted so long.
He lifted his eyes to the sky, the clouds growing darker and frowned. He wasn't going to make it to the ledge in time and it was all thanks to that mare. He set the pace and started climbing the rocky path.
