[ORP] Valentine's Crafting & Exchange

The school was decorated for Valentine’s Day; paper hearts were stuck to the walls and pink hued streams ran across the ceiling. Several tables were set up all, each set up with construction paper, glue and all manner of glitter and crafting items. At the back of the room there were plain shoe boxes, with a large slit cut into them. Another table was set up, with a small array of snacks, just enough to tide any babben over till dinner. Light bouncy pop music set a happy and youthful mood.

Everything was set in place for the local young phonies to come in and spend the valentine’s day making cards for their families and peers, as well as exchanging them.

Each Babben can rp: decorating a shoe ‘mail’ box for their cards, making cards, or giving them to their friends. Shy ones can avoid personal exchanges and drop a card off in the box of their friends instead. Alternatively they can just hang out and mingle with their peers.

Make a card using any media you want to! Paint, draw, and collage! Write a poem! Get funny ones from the Internet if you’re less inspired or not so artsy. Post them here for all to see!

Der Rules

-This is a simple ORP and as such is open to everyone! You can come in and go as you please and play as you see fit. It’s just an excuse to muck around for a bit of V-Day fun, meet new babbens and maybe get that element you needed.
-Your babben can give cards directly to others, make some to give them privately on their own, or drop one into an owner’s ‘mail’ shoe box. Feel free to quote the owner or babben to let them know they have a card.

The little brown unicorn with mint and golden mane was the first to arrive to the crafting party. Wisp’s eyes went wide with awe at all the glitter and paper decorations that were hung up just for them. It wasn’t a sophisticated affair, but there was thought and affection put into the afternoon; Willow Wisp found that charming.

Taking a minute to move around the area, Wisp wandering around to take it all in before she decided to start working on a mailbox to help carry home her valentines in; whether she received any or not, Wisp was planning on making a bunch for her family at the very least. With a plain box, the brown unicorn took a seat at the empty crafting table and set to work, starting with painting her name in big letters on the box.

Nightvine gave a loud yaaaaaawn before going up to the table. Without saying a word, he got to work making Valentine's things. He didn't even know who they'd be for, he figured he'd find someone who needed one.

[The Voice of Time]

An obvious slam was given as the mustard colored filly ventured within the schoolhouse, given a shake off her body and sending the snow flying everywhere. She didn't mean to make such an entrance, it was just that it was soooo cold outside, and she basically panicked before thinking. A nervous chuckle was given as she glanced at around, quickly taking off her scarf and hat before placing them in a little cubby and shrinking away to a table. It was a much more distant spot from the others, figuring that this would be the best place to start making cards and fixing up her shoebox.

One hand full of cotton balls and the other with a glue bottle, Sal was ready to get to work!

why did he come here again? Oh yes, the promise of free candy. Candy to experiment with and what not. But first it seemed he had to decorate a box for this holiday. And cards? He might as well make some for his family but he didn't see the fun much in that. Rock Sugar eyes the brown filly for a moment, another mutant?

Valentines' Day cards sounded great to Taters- she thought it might be super fun to make them for her friends and family, some fo whom she was BOUND to run into here. But as she looked around the community center, admiring the paper hearts on the walls, her beaming grin shaded a bit as the corners of her mouth fell. She was faced with the stark reality that none of her friends were here- she didn't know any of these phonies!

Maybe this wasn't the best idea. But at least there were snacks- and besides, surely these phonies were just friends she hadn't met yet. She sat down at a table with an earth phony colt because it was nearest the food. Food was good.

She blinked at her tablemate and gave a little wave. "Hi," she said. "I'm Taters. Could you please pass me the glue?"

(Frosty, I'm going for honesty, too- maybe they can both pretend to actually be into it and then tell each other the truth?)

The filly had eventually finished off two of her Valentine's Day cards (And granted, the first one she made wasn't very good as she was rather...oblivious to the event itself) , wiping off the top of her forehead and giving a sigh. Unfortunately, this got more cotton that was once stuck on her hooves now in her mane. Oh well, it's not like the scraps were important now. A soft growl from her stomach was the bigger issue here, and one she would solve by giving the snack table a visit.

Onward to food!

Swamp had been rather reluctant to join in, mostly because his momma and mama both demanded he be presentable. And by that, they mean he actually washed up and didn't look or smell like he'd just been mucking about. The latter wasn't too difficult to accomplsih, given the cold Winter weather made going into his favored dredging spots almost impossible. He was still forced to wipe his face and hooves clean with a damp towel before all was said and done.

So Swamp wasn't really in the best mood when he got to the school. But then red eyes widened when he saw just how many other babbens were there and he was suddenly filled with excitement. Eagerly, he gathered a wide array of materials (as many as he could carry) and observing the others present before starting work on his cards.

Mossflower had already put together her own box and had been sitting in the corner quietly for a good few minutes. Now and then she would glance up at the other Phony's and then return to what she was doing, putting all her attention into her very first card. After she finished this one, she would make on for her siblings and then anyone else who wanted one, but this first one was important.

There! She put on the last finishing touches and sat back with a smile. She really hoped Zen liked it.

[I'm not sure what I'm trying for here. Maybe Generosity? Maybe someone hasn't gotten any cards, so she makes them one?]

It was not strange to make a Valentines Day card for your sister, right? He moved himself away from everyone else with a vacant smile on his face, finished his card for Nev quickly and then put it aside before anyone else could see it. It was only then that he looked up and paid some attention to everyone else.

Tri had seen the posters for the event and decided to come. She wasn't doing anything else in particular and while she didn't have many friends in phony land and tended to haunt the sweets shops, it couldn't hurt to make cards for other phonies. Better to do something positive then mope you had no one on v-day. She trotted in with a smile on her face, looked around, headed to the food table to get a drink then immediately headed over to cover a box with her name and glitter. It didn't really matter to her if she didn't get any valentines. The box could be a cool memory and if she did it right it could be a pretty decoration for her room later.

It wasn’t very long before more babbens came in, and the room was slowly filling up.

Wisp diligently painted her valentine’s box, adding little hearts around the edges. When she looked up, she noticed that several others had come and sat at tables, and nearest to her was a tired-looking blue unicorn she had never met. Wondering what he was up to making with his valentine’s crafts. Wisp scooted over to get a better look. “That’s looks like it’ll be a nice one,” she chirped to the blue unicorn.

Taking another look around the room, she saw at least one familiar face in her brother. She was pleased he’d come to something like this, knowing that whatever he made would likely be lovely and very proper.

What also caught her eye was a face she did not know, but she could not help but notice a certain purple unicorn’s spiral horn and gemstone protruding from his body. She had already met his brother, Expired Expectations, and promised to watch out for other mutant phonies. What was his name? Wisp was sure she had heard it before… Rock? But was that it? She couldn’t recall. Either way, Wisp smiled sweetly with fangs exposed and gave a mild wave to the purple unicorn. He inspired her to make her first valentine. She started by cutting out a purple heart.
