Prancing around the counter a small green filly headed towards the fridge. From inside she took out a few trays with what looked like fish on them and placed them on a low counter. The little filly happily trotted around her mother's kitchen collecting things to try out a new recipe she had learned. Cutie Roll was excited, her brother Swamp Net would be back soon with the rest of the ingredients she had asked for. Some of them had been out in the wild, spices and seasoning she didn't want to just buy from the store. She wanted the fresh! She had a few ideas for a delicious treat for her sibling and wanted to make sure it was the best. Swamp was always willing to eat her food, given that he was exploring the cast mucky areas of Phonyland. He needed his strength so a good seafood lunch was perfect for keeping his energy up. Cutie wasn't as adventurous as her siblings might be but she would make sure they always had enough to eat.

If there was one thing Swamp could never do, it was saying No to his siblings. Thankfully, he hadn't had reason to actually say no to them but he was sure when the time came, he would always take their side. Because that's what brothers and sisters do! The colt was sure of that. Which was why he was pushing a large basket filled with all sorts of plants down the lane towards their mother's house. Most of the plants were the ingredients and spices Cutie requested while others were interesting-looking roots she might identify for later. At the very bottom of the basket were funny-shaped rocks Swamp found while digging said plants up. One looked almost like a carrot! Pleased with his successful harvest, he pushed the basket until he was at the door. He paused to catch his breath, inhaled deeply, and let out a yell of: "CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!"

Cutie put a few more things out on the table when she heard the shuffling of a basket just outside the door. Soon it was followed by the familiar all of her brother, Swamp. She giggled, imagining he was quite tired from his adventure. Hopping of a small stool she galloped to the door and opened it with a big smile, "Hi Swamp! Didja get it all?" She asked excitedly as she looked over the things he had brought. Sure enough there were the things she had asked for as well as some roots and such she might find out about later. And some rocks. Ah Swamp, he couldn't go without bringing something back from his mucking about. "Perfect! Come on! Lets bring them inside so I can wash them and make you a special snack for being the most awesome brother!" she giggled as she helped the colt pull the bag into the kitchen, leaving their usual long mess on the floor. s**c would most likely clean it up later, she always did when it came to her messy siblings. Hopping on a stool by the sink she washed the dirt and such off the roots and spices before taking them over to her work area.

Swamp's chest puffed out in pride, gosh yeah! He was most definitely the most awesomest brother! Mostest! "Course I got 'em all, you told me what they looked like real good so I knew what to look for," he beamed as they brought the things in the kitchen. If things were messy, Swamp wouldn't have noticed, mostly because he liked messy places and if their other sister wasn't around he wouldn't have done much about it. "Awwwww yeaaaaah!!! Special Snack Time! You make the best stuff, Cutie!" fatigue and tiredness gone at the mere suggestion of one of his sister's amazing culinary concoctions. He'd always volunteered to taste test for her and so far, everything has been super duper yummy. The idea that his sister could make anything that wasn't never crossed his idea. He did however, keep a bit of distance as she washed up at the sink. Swamp liked the dirt and the mud and wore them like medals. "Look at this rock I found! I thought it was a real old carrot," he proudly displayed, "I checked to make sure it wasn't a carrot too! My tooths still feel a little sore," he admitted sheepishly.

Cutie giggled as her brother talked, he was always so good at finding the things she needed. And he wasn't afraid to get messy to get them. Cutie didn't mind a mess but when cooking you were suppose to be as clean as you can be. It was safer. "Well of course I make the best stuff! I'm the cook of the family!" she grinned as she finished washing the rest of the ingredients. She tried to keep the soaping water from splashing on Swamp, knowing he wasn't fond of bath time. She constantly heard the fight between him and their mothers over his appearance. "Oh Swamp you know you shouldn't eat something unless I say it's safe! I know all kinds of things that could upset your tummy if you tried to eat them!" she shook her hoof at him with a smile before turning back to her cooking. She created a new snack with the spices Swamp had brought, chopping it up and mixing it with some bread crumbs. Then she dipped some raw fish into it. Sushi was her favorite meal to create since she didn't have to use the stove, only mares could use that.

Swamp looked pensive for a moment, "But how do you know something's okay to eat before you try it too?" It was a mystery to the earth colt, in his opinion you learned by experiences. (Books had not yet come quite into the picture because the ones he found tended to be too mushy and pulpy to be any good reading.) Swamp hated baths, but he wouldn't completely object to washing his front hooves. He liked dirt and mud and muck but if his front hooves had them, they tended to get in the way of the food's real taste and that was a shame. He carefully sidled up to his sister, peering up at her for his turn at the sink. That day's digging hadn't been too mucky, mostly damp soil and dirt but he'd gone through a lot of them and definitely could do with the teeeeeensiest bit of washing. "Don't tell momma or mama I washed my hooves all by myself, okay? It might give 'em wrong ideas. Like that I like washing up," he made a face as the trickle of water began to clear away the dirt on his front legs.

"Cause I read books!" she giggled at him as she began making a plate for each of them with her newest creation. "They have pictures and everything! Some plants make your tummy hurt. Some make your lips go numb. So mo malk mike misb!" she giggled as she numbed out her words. She also made room for Swamp to wash his hooves, which was a miracle in and of itself. But he always washed his hooves when he ate her food, she felt it a compliment that he was willing to do something he hated so much just for her cooking. "I promise, our secret," she whispered then giggled again. Finally the food was ready. The sauce she had dipped the fish in before covering it with a seaweed wrap had looked and smelled lovely! But unknowingly she had put too much wild onion in the mix, which you could only detect by taste. Pushing the plate towards him she bounced, "Try it try it! It's a new reciple!"

"Well, maybe I should eat some books!" Swamp joked. Or was he? Relieved that his sister wouldn't blab on him, Swamp eagerly took his place at the table and all but buried his face into the plate. (It's a compliment, Cutie! Really!) He had taken a huge bite and was chewing his mouthful when he froze. His brows knitted together in confusion as the overpowering taste of the wild onions exploded in his mouth. He'd be the first to call Cutie's dishes an explosion of tastes but this particular one wasn't the good kind. It was all he could do not to spit the food back onto the plate and rush to the sink to wash the taste away. Staring at the excited, hopeful face of his sister, Swamp struggled to swallow. "'S, 's g-good," he croaked with a weak, watery smile.

Cutie was so happy! Her new recipe was a success!! She turned to try it herself, popping a piece into her mouth when....it hit her. Her eye twitched, her tongue did a few interesting flips in her mouth, then she spit it out. "Bleh! Oh man!" she shook her head hard. Too much onion! How did she not think of that before? I mean Swamp had said.... Then she looked to her brother with a horribly upset look, "Oh...oh Swamp! I'm sorry! You don't have to eat it! It...it's terrible." She looked down, defeated. She had never made a bad recipe before, being her first time it was a little hard. Why had Swamp said it was good? I mean he had strange tastes but even she could tell this wasn't a good mix.

Swamp wanted to cry for two reasons. The first was that he didn't have to finish the food. Thank goodness because he could barely swallow the first bite! And the second reason was because he wasn't able to keep his sister happy. "D-don't be sad, Cutie," Swamp begged. "Mebbe the recipe is wrong! You did awesome!" he rambled, trying to think of something that would make his sister feel better.

Cutie sniffled as she looked down at the horrid creation she had rought upon this world! How could she not have noticed she put in too much of the wild onion. Onions were good for flavor but you always had to be careful. For the first time in her short cooking career she had messed up and she had let her brother eat her mistake. She tried to smile for her brother as he attempted to make her feel better. He was nice but why did he have to lie to her about the food? Well....he did always say things to make her happy, he cared a lot about her and her other sibling. "Yeah...maybe. Though I wish you had told me before. I'll change the recipe a bit and try it first next time. I'm sorry I made you eat something so bad."

"O-oh. I'm sorry. I'll tell the truth next time." Swamp's ears drooped, then he looked as if he was bracing himself for something. Eyes shut, he quickly began to scarf down the rest of the food. His tongue will be so angry with him for hours, he was sure but he decided it would be worth it. For his sister!
When the last morsel was eaten, Swamp sort of just, laid his head on the table, beside the now cleaned plate. "Not a taste that grows on you," he groaned, then angled his face so his eyes could meet Cutie's. "It ain't one of your better foods, but I think it can be salvaged."
If it was just too much wild onion, maybe next time his sister could put in less. "I'll still be game to taste it." he smiled, weakly.Byagane319 ;; thank you for not giving up on me.

Cutie nodded with a sad smile, still upset at having messed up her first dish. They say the first is the hardest as it is usually something you've put your heart in to. But it is always a learning experience. The filly was about to throw it away when her brother suddenly scarfed the rest down. She gasped just giggled, "Swamp! You didn't have to eat it all! But thank you, I'll make sure it's much better next time!"Hugging her brother with a smile she winked, "And since you braved my creation, next time Mama is chasing you for a bath I won't tell her when you hide under my bed."Huni Pi Think nothing of it my darling! RL has been a b***h for me so I understand ^_^

The colt's spirits visibly lifted. "You're the best, Cutie!" he declared and he meant every word. He hoped it would help his sister feel a little better about the failed dish. And he knew better than to make a little white lie just to please her next time. At least when it came to her cooking.
"I'll help you clear the table but after that, I think my tummy wants me to lie down a bit." The colt chuckled sheepishly, lifting his head off the table.
Byagane319 We can probably end the RP here?
