By nature Quaid was firm, not cruel. Yet, of all the options allotted to them the canine favored Kya’s best. He was proud of what they had come to create in such perfect seclusion, perhaps more then he should be. It seemed only right to perform a public end to an unnecessary breach; the surest way to avoid future complications.
Quaid’s jaw had slacked, ready for the input he would soon contribute when the Bloodletter, and his shadow, moved. And then, the ratel spoke.
It hadn’t quite struck him just how curious both Jmeni and Kalenorava’s suggestions had been, respectively. Absorbed in his own weighing, when confronted by the two options the Vigilante appeared frustrated by uncertainty. How could a Scholar begin to suggest a warning and a release? And of what use could the Infiltrators get from a small bird? Why was it that in his eyes both could result in the same outcome?
A proud male… he could not side with freedom, but the alternative would be even less desirable.
Meanwhile, the Bloodletter’s guard had already come to his own decision. He had his doubts of Kalenorava. He suspected a great, many things of her and her own… but felt just as strongly with all in their midst. Ox spared no trust for any, but if the Bloodletter had confidence in her then…
“If a lion cannot find a way to penetrate the thorns, then I doubt a bird will.” Shooting his fellow guard another one of those looks she loved.
Quaid jerked his head to the speaker, uneasily in agreement. He knew little of Jmeni, but enough to suspect that the level of responsibility would be too great a burden to bear. Even he would have had his doubts.
The canine would then return to the leopardess, continuing Ox's thought with feigned levity.
“I would assume that the responsibility, and consequences, would be on your head, then, should she escape.”

((Sorry for taking so long, guys! Bit of a stressful time IRL. Thanks for being so patient!))
Jmeni was more than a bit taken back by the Bloodletter's statement. He had fully expected that their leader would have made his own decision and Jmeni would have stood by it no matter what the ratel chose. But to have the fate of this small bird placed into his own paws was the last thing he expected to happen.
The scholar cheetah was quite torn. Ideally, he wanted to be in control of his own fate and no one else. He was quite skilled at taking care of his own survival, his past would attest to that. Also, he was very devoted to the pride and the pride's best interests. But that was a blurry line at the moment as this small bird didn't seem to be much of a threat. However, if Jmeni was wrong about her then he would have to accept the consequences of her actions as his own. A difficult idea to swallow. But he couldn't help feel the way he did. It wasn't fair to the little bird that her nest had been stolen and now her life hung in the balance simply for trying to save her young.
Jmeni mulled it over for a few minutes, but knowing that the others were waiting for his decision, he went with his gut. Turning to the Bloodletter, he bowed deeply.
"I thank you for this opportunity. Let the bird go. I will accept any consequences."
Jmeni hoped that the bird would fly as far away as she could, find a new mate, build a new nest and forget that any of this had ever taken place. If he had the chance, he would tell the bird in no uncertain terms that this was the only thing she should and would do in return for her life.

The ORP has ended! Thanks everyone for your participation.
Things to note:
arrow There is now a bird who knows of the Bloodletters location flying free. Blame for this may be placed on Jmeni for vouching for her release, Kalenorava for sucking at guard duty, Kya for stealing said bird's nest, or the Bloodletter for allowing Jmeni's word to count for that much. Or a mixture. All the blame!
arrow Though the bird was freed, her eggs were not. They were crushed by Kya and the remains given to the Bloodletter later as intended. Members may have mixed feelings on this depending on whether or not they view it as a sort of unnecessary infanticide or simply see it as predator and prey situation. They do all eat meat, after all.
Prizes!
Both these prizes will at least somewhat overlap The Bloodletters relationship to the The Lightbringers as part of large plot involving multiple prides. They are not RP required if you're too busy, but we may PM you to ask OOC what your character would do if it's vital for the RP. If for some reason you would like to give your prize away, please PM Hopefolly to let her know.
Caliwolfe Click for full! OOC: This leopard was the result of a mix and match between Hopefolly's leopard, Tesbel, and Meep's leopardess, Citra. Her colorist is Safaia.
IC: She was raised with four sisters and a brother. Her father was a pretty serious hoarder, but beyond that, her childhood was fairly stable and included both parents.
At adolescent, she joins The Lightbringers with her brother and father (both owned by Hopefolly), but for whatever reason they start to see her as a threat, or perhaps just an annoyance they'd like to be rid of. Why is up to you. Did she have an affair with the wrong person? Start complaining when a friend was killed? Make a lion friend who changed her mind?
Regardless of why, she has reason to fear for her safety, so late one night she flees. Shortly thereafter she is captured by the Bloodletters as a sacrifice, but Kalenorava takes her as a "personal servant" when she learns of her history. How and if you want to RP this out is up to you.
Her future rank prospects look bleak. She is not permitted to be a guard and Kalenorava shows no interest in recruiting her to the Infiltrators. If she rolls seer she'll have a chance at Prophet. Or maybe she'll change her fate herself?

IC: This bird escaped with her life, but she lost some feathers and an entire clutch of eggs. Her freedom does not come without penalty for the Bloodletters. She will either directly or indirectly serve as an informant about them to the The Lightbringers. Through her, they will learn the status of the cult, in particular whose running the show.
Is out of revenge? Did she get captured again and trade information for her life? The details and how and if this is RPed are up to you. She may also choose to join the Lightbringers or go on her merry way after she plays her part.
