Jove nodded, his ears falling into a more relaxed position. They could fight tomorrow, and then everything would be just fine. Things were always better once the sun was up, and fights were always better when both parties were well rested!

There was one last nervous glance in the direction of Matty's dark and unused closet, but the pup's attention was soon drawn to the massive structure that took up most of the room. He hesitantly touched it with his fingers as his friend easily scrambled upwards. When he set both hands on the fabric it was with the same hesitance as one would when testing ice underfoot, making sure it was what it was, and would hold his weight. It was not something he should have worried about with his light stature. Yet who's to say the mountain of fabric would tolerate it's master, and cave in under the hands and feet of outsiders?

Jove took a step back, readied himself, and then began to climb. His confidence increased with every uneventful step upwards, and reaching the top was so easy it was almost anticlimactic. He peered over the edge and into the burrow, and it was going well until he was spooked by the thought of mimics in the darkness, nipping at his heels.

Mathias may have made the descent look easy, but Jove threw himself headfirst into the den and tumbled the rest of the way down.

Mathias fell through the tunnel with practiced ease, and when it opened up into a small, cavern like space, he landed quite easily on his feet. Inside the burrow was as much as one might have expected. There was indeed a bed, but it appeared as though the mattress, blankets, and pillows had all been torn apart, shredded, made into what looked like a giant nest more then an actual place meant for sleeping. The entire floor of the area was layered with scraps of fabric and torn up blankets. It was clean, however, despite the surrounding chaos, and cozy in it's own way.

Not too worried about Jove and whether or not he could make the climb or the descent (because he was a ghost and that meant he could totally just do something ghostly and be fine, right?) Mathias picked his way across the floor, which was soft and springy beneath his feet, towards the bed-nest, which was still slightly raised off of the floor by the bed frame.

He didn't get very far, however, when something landed directly on top of him. Not a heavy thing, but heavy enough to send him hurtling face first into the floor, the air sent straight out of his lungs in a whoosh. Whether or not Jove was able to use his tendrils to keep himself from going down with Mathias didn't matter.

"Vas not expecting that..." Mathias grumbled in admittance, his voice muffled by a torn up pillow that he had face planted into.

Jove made a little murmur of apology, and quickly climbed off his friend. Maybe he should have been more careful...

He glanced up at the entrance warily, and then around the inside of the den. Everything looked soft. It might have been chaos compared to the orderly calm of his vampire caretaker's large home, but there was something settling about the softness underfoot, and the way the walls of the den curved up and around them. It reminded him of secure, cosy places, like hollow logs, and little burrows under tree roots.

The pup circled around the small space, much as he had in the room itself, touching scraps of fabric that caught his attention, and even trying to peer under the remnants of the bed frame. This time he didn't appear to find anything alarming. But neither did he find a place to settle, in that regard he had to take his cues from Matty. He had never slept in a den like this before, and he didn't want to accidentally curl up anywhere he shouldn't.

The nice thing about it, at least, was that Jove was not in the least bit heavy. So, while Mathias might have been a bit flattened by the initial impact, it hadn't hurt him in any way, and had only, as he said, taken him by surprise. Jove's quiet sounds of apology were handwaved off as Mathis pushed himself to his hands and knees, before springing to his feet, curious to see what Jove's reaction might be to what Mathias truly considered to be a space that he had made into his own.

"Is not much, really." He said, watching as Jove made his way around, again touching things as he moved, and Mathias could feel his lips pulling up into a small smile, reaching up to scratch his his head near one of his ears before he turned and hop-stepped towards what remained of his "bed", now just a frame buried beneath a torn up mattress, pillows and blankets. Jumping onto it, he settled in almost immediately, curling his knee's up against his chest.

"Vould like to stay vith me here, or vould rather find space on floor?"

It all basically looked like floor, honestly, with only the bed area being slightly higher then the rest.

"Can be finding things to talk about until ready for sleep." He said, though he yawned at the end, his mouth opening wide, revealing smaller teeth that were slightly sharper then what any strictly vegetarian mammals would be.

"If is helping to decide, vould be nice to not sleep lonely for vonce since leaving home."

Jove's ears turned as Mathias spoke, it certainly looked like more than 'not much', the pup was pretty sure dens didn't just grow in the dorms. It was a big, cosy nest, with all the close comfort of his own under-the-bed spaces and yet with enough room to easily move around. In his kid form even!

Large, luminous puppy eyes met the wolpertinger's glance, and Jove was perhaps a bit too quick in grabbing a mostly intact pillow and crawling onto the bed. Bed thing. Bed... area. It was hard for the pup to admit hugs had grown on him. And that sometimes being close to someone was reassuring when he was scared. He didn't even want to admit he was ever scared, so the invitation, and even the excuse, to sit close was more than welcome.

Scooting over, he set the pillow against Matty's side, and curled up right there.

He had been silently chastising himself for speaking so boldly, in giving the other boil such a large hint that he would not mind his company on the bed and might in fact, actually enjoy it. He could feel his cheeks heating up with a faint blush, but he was tired, and not used to having company over at all, let alone in the middle of the night (or very early hours of the morning depending on how one looked at it).

But all apologies he might have given died in his throat as Jove grabbed for a pillow before scrambling up onto the bed-area. His mouth which was partially opened snapped closed, and Jove was soon curling up beside him, with a pillow between them both, so that they weren't actually touching each other. This was...odd to him, but acceptable. If he had been in his natural form, if both of them had been, he would have perhaps expected them to sleep curled up against each other, a fluff pile of warmth and comfort.

"Vould uh...vould like to be talking about something? Could tell you about....vell, anything you are vishing to know, if am able to." He said, though he yawned at the end of his sentence. It was the den, it's cozy and comfortable nature lulling him towards sleep even when moments before he did not feel quite as sleepy.

Jove made a little murmur sound, rubbing his face on the pillow and wiggling closer to Matty's side. Not intentionally, but that just happened to be the direction his wiggles took him. It was surprisingly comfortable on that mess of torn mattress and scraps of fabric, and his friend's yawn triggered one of his own. His teeth, even in this child form, were the teeth of a carnivore, all sharp and pointy, even the little nubs on the left side of his mouth where they were growing back from a fight. One teething foxfire could be a pain, but for Jove it was a recurring thing depending on how many people he could find to fight him.

The pup made another noise, responding to his own thoughts rather than what his friend was saying. Maybe tomorrow they could fight some. And he could show Mathias what he could do at full strength. It would be fun...

Another yawn, and then the pup was still.
