Expired sighed, as he stay tucked away in the farthest part of the house. He wanted nothing to do with anyone right now. Life hadn't turned out to be what he expected. Not that he had much going on before hand, but his mother family was so sweet.... and then he turned out like this. Mama Sweet Bread had kids before and they didn't turn out like him and his siblings. He heard the door bell jingle as someone came in. It was Rosewrite. The purple little colt thought of running off, before Rose could have a chance to talk to him... but it was too late. "Hey, Expire. How are ya doin' little guy?""Meh..." He barely gave a response, but did at least acknowledge him. He was in a terrible mood today. Nothing was going to make him smile he just knew it. Rose picked up on this and decided it might be nice to take a little road trip. "I know you are going to say no.... but we are going to go visit someone. She helped me out when i was having a bad day when I was a colt... I'm sure she can help you out too... She is really sweet." He tilted his head, telling the purple colt to come on. Expired would sit there for a while before he'd actually get up and follow him. Soon enough they were stepping into some kind of candy shop.... and it was really pink all over the place. "Candy? Are you around?"

The bell above the door jingled, and Candy looked up from her cookbook. It was turned to the "chocolates of the world" page, and she placed a sticker on the recipe she was reading before walking into the main part of the shop where she hear somephony calling her name. She recognized the grown phony, and smiled brightly.
"Rose! How nice to see you!" She bounded to where he stood and gave Rosewrite a hug. "I'm so glad you came by!"
It was then she noticed the sullen foal at his heels. His mane was spiky, and part of it looked rock hard. Hmm, perhaps that was the new mane trend these days with foals. But what really got her attention was the colt's unusual leg. It seemed to look like....a loaf of bread?
She blinked a couple of times, then remembered it was rude to stare. "And hello to you! I don't think I've seen you around before! Is he one of yours?" she asked Rosewrite. Goodness, it seemed like only yesterday they were talking as foals!

Suddenly he was being bounded for a hug. He never denied a hug, but he didn't have many people even approach him for hugs. His arms wrapped around the pink girl in a big hug and he would give a big smile. "Hey, how have ya been Candy? It's been a while. Glad to see we are both so grown up now though.~" He nodded happily, just being around her seemed to bring back a smile. "Oh no, that is my little brother... his name is Expired Expectations."The purple unicorn was hesitant at first, but he'd offer up a small wave, though he didn't speak up. "He's not in the best mood today... I was wondering if you had anything to do that might be fun.~ "

"I've been doing great! I can't believe your mane" She gushed, adoring his long locks. Candy secretly wanted a long mane, but with her curls, she figured it would turn into a giant mess.
Her smile was warm. Brother! So Sweet Bread had another batch of babbens! She would have to send them a basket, though she wondered if it was with the same mare as before. Expired certainly didn't have the markings or indications that he was from Play Belle.
Her face turned concerned, lip puckering out when Rose mentioned Expired's gloomy mood. Cheering up gloomy foals was one of her favorite things to do! If she wasn't so good with her baskets, she would have a foal cheering up cutie mark!
"Well, that depends, what do you like to do for fun?" She asked Expired, turning her attention to the silent foal.

"Oh, thank you very much..." He smiled warmly, always thankful when someone commented on his hair. It was something else to take care of especially when he goes off trekking through the forest. "I like your tight little curls, I bet you are a light as a feather~" He didn't understand of brush and grow phonies with wings could even fly with how heavy how hair can be. His attention turned to focus on Expired as well not wanting to answer for him all the time. Ex gave a bit of a shrug, feeling a bit more shy with the bubbly mare around them. "I-I don't know. I like to make things... and try foods... and stuff." He said not really sure how to end his sentence. His eyes shifting back down to the floor.

He had said the magic words! Candy gasped, then said "Making AND trying new foods?! Why, you've been brought to the right place! I just happen to need some assistance with some fruit flowers. I don't know which ones to dip in chocolate and use."
She brought them into the kitchen, where a pile of unorganized fruit was on the counter, and chocolate was heating in a double boiler on the stove.
"You see, I've never tried some of these with chocolate before, but I ant to do something different with this basket to symbolize the new year; a year of new surprises. Whaddaya say?" She looked to Expired with excitement.

"Mmm, fruit flowers sounds delicious." They moved into the kitchen and though neither of these two were actually chefs... they were very used to the layout of a kitchen. Expired didn't seem to excited to be there, but he did pull up a chair (and that was a big step for him.) He examined the fruit making sure it was fit to even dip in chocolate. "I think these are good... I haven't tasted them, but they appear to be in top shape." He spoke quietly and with not much confidence. Rose shifted behind him to check out the fruits as well. "Good eye, little one." He smiled, waiting and watching how the dipping of the fruit would go.

Candy nodded, picking out a blackberry and popping it into her mouth.
"The phony at the fruit stand has some really good wares. She was having a sale to make room for her new crop, so I got a great deal on all of this!" She pointed to each different item with a hoof.
"Now I figure Mr. Orchid is used to a kitchen, and I assume you are no different." she said to Rosewrite "But I don't know how familiar you are Expired. The most important thing is to taste everything you make. You can't expect to convince anyone to buy anything if you can't describe the taste as accurately as possible."
She put a hot pad into her mouth, and removed the chocolate from the heat, placing it on the table inbetween them. She also placed parchment paper on the counter for the cooling fruit.
She picked up another blueberry, and dropped it in the chocolate, retrieving it with a fork. A couple of taps later, and the coated blueberry was laying on the parchment paper.
"See? It's just that easy!" She said with a smile. "Now I've got raspberries, more blueberries, cucumber slices, pineapple, pumpkin squares (she had frozen those from last fall and dearly hoped they survived), mint leaves and grapes. Pick whatever you guys like!"

Hehe. Riiiiight. Rosewrite was by no means in expert in the kitchen. With good instructions he could prepare boxed food, but he was nothing like his brother and mom. Then again they could be kind of messy... so maybe that was a good thing. Ex didn't hang around his mother's kitchen too much. Eating bread... well that wasn't okay by him. He did like tasting food though, so this could only get him more familiar in the kitchen. He gave a small nodded as he moved raspberries and pumpkin squares into the chocolate using a little bit of magic. Then moving it to the parchment paper when they were thoroughly coated. "Mmmn Candy, how long do they take to dry?" "I'd like to try the mint leaves and the cucumber in some chocolate." He said moving them over himself. Dunking them in the chocolate was no problem, but getting them out was another problem... A little help? He said struggling with his fork.

-Yasha Alchemist I'm so sorry I haven't responded in ages! RL sucks XD Candy watched him use his magic to dip the food. "Man, magic sure is handy for these kinds of things!" she remarked, picking up a grape and dipping it with her fork in her mouth.
When she was done dipping, she dropped the fork. "Should take only a minute or two. It's cool enough in here that the chocolate should harden pretty quickly." She pushed on the blueberry with the fork, and the utensil left no mark on the chocolatey surface.
Candy saw Rose struggle and grabbed her own fork, putting it into the chocolate and between the two of them, fishing the food out of the sweetness. She giggled from behind the fork.

They were making a great process though each of the items. The fruits of the labors currently drying on the wax paper before them. Rosewrite was already licking his lips eager to try their little creations. Expired on the other hand was judging the food based on their appearance. The ones that Rose and he had a hoof in clearly didn't look as good as Candy's... but at least his looked better than Rose's thanks to magic. "Yours are looking very nice Candy. Do you think we can try them now?" He tilted his head as he asked the little pink phony another question. Exp was warming up to her in his own way. Before this trip is over perhaps he'll even crack a smile! Blue Eyed Melloon Don't even worry about it. xDD

Candy stared at the treats, judging the gloss on the chocolate coating. She hmmm and hawwwed, then finally nodded with a smile.
"I think they are ready to be eaten!" she said, picking up a blueberry and popping it into her mouth. She sighed and said "Yep. blueberries are a good idea!"
While the other two tried their treats, Candy dipped a few more things. Pumpkin? Let's see how that goes!

"Oh I bet pumpkin dipped in chocolate will be good. I like Halloween related things." He nodded. It was only natural seeing as this little one and his siblings were born around Halloween... and maybe part of the reason they looked all fun. But speaking of looking funny Candy didn't even seem to mind. She was very nice. Exp smiled and tried the raspberries first. His face puckered. "That was deceiving sour... but I bet that was just this one." He said trying another one optimistically. Woah... that was new. Rose had never heard the little guy actually sound positive about anything. He gave a smile as he took mint leaf after mint leave into his mouth. They were so delicious.

"Well we will certainly see!" Candy said, gently shaking the dripping square. She eyed it until the last drop fell, then deftly took it in her teeth and ate it.
Upon catching the eyes of her companions, she smiled sheepishly. "I just couldn't wait!" before giggling.
Candy heard Exp's slight change of heart, but kept her excitement to herself, allowing her excitement to reach her eyes as she winked at Rose. "Well? Was that one any better?" she ventured to ask, placing a raspberry in the chocolate. If he was going to like those, she would make sure he would not run out!

He closed his eyes and savored the sweet treat. It was delicious. It was perfect. If this was the kind of service Candy Dandy provided then he would surely be back to get more sweets. He continued to mull over the taste, it was such a cool delicious taste that laid somewhere between sweet and sour. The chocolate melting off and mixing with the bright burst of juice when he bit into the fruit. Wonderful. He then opened his eyes to see CD putting more raspberries into the pot. She clearly wanted to see him happy... and she was doing a great job. He gave a small chuckle and then looked up surprised and almost embarrassed to the two older phonies. Rose write, just ruffled some of the softer parts of Exp's hair. "I knew if anyone could help you crack a smile it would be Candy.... but she got you to laugh... Now I just call that impressive." Exp smiled and just pushed his older brother's hoof away.
