Candy Dandy was a fan of the snow. She liked the way it looked like fluffy clouds when it piled up, and shimmered in the lamplight at night. She enjoyed the way it muffled everything when it fell, but one could hear a pin drop across the town when it stopped. Snow was clean, pretty...
and COLD! She shivered, wrapping her pink and blue scarf around her neck tighter and tugging down the matching hat over her ears. That was the one downfall of snow. She walked down the street, watching phonies making their way through the town, probably doing Christmas shopping or preparing for dinner.
She inhaled, then coughed. Yeah, cold didn't make for sighs of happiness.

While some phony's had blue lips from the cold, one bouncing colt was always blue no matter the weather. Blue Suede Horseshoes trotting down the sidewalk wrapped in a big fluffy sweater with an equally large scarf around his neck. His Papa Lullaby wouldn't let him leave the stable without proper protection from the cold, he was quite sure other foals had the same treatment if they were seen without warm fuzzies.
Bopping down the side walk he looked at all the others phonies who looked so cold. He was about to pass a pink mare without so much and glancing up when she coughed. Looking up to wish her better health he suddenly realized who she was, "Why Auntie Candy! A fine day to be seeing you. Have you a cough from the cold?"

The mare looked down to see her nephew Blue bundled up in a sweater and scarf. She smiled warmly and went for a hug, saying "Blue! How nice to see you! What are you doing out in the cold?"
She shook her head after releasing the colt. "Sometimes it gets too cold to take a deep breath. I tried, and I guess today is one of those days." she giggled, covering her mouth with a hoof.

Blue chuckled and hugged his aunt. His dad's half siblings were always so awesome to hang out with, despite what his grandmother said about their shared father. Then again she only ever spoke highly of Taiko, his father's stepfather. "I wanted to go for a walk so Big Papa Lullaby bundled me up like a teddy bear."
He nodded about the cold, looking around at all the other phonies who were either shivering and rubbing their hooves together trying to say warm. "Yeah cold weather really leaves everyone with a blue Christmas. Too bad there's no way to keep everyone warm like my sweater."

Candy would totally understand the reactions that TACO created. She struggled with his..odd behavior early in her foalhood, but now as an adult, all she could do was accept her father as a bizarre addition to her family.
She was still glad that she took after her mother a little more though.
"A walk? In this weather?" She was about to ask why, but stopped herself when she remembered that was exactly what she was doing. She prodded the sweater, and said "That does look wonderfully warm. You are a lucky colt to have such a caring family!"
Then she too looked around at the cold phonies, tilting her head to one side.A way to keep everyphony warm....well they couldn't very well give everyphony a sweater like Blue's. They simply didn't have the time to make all of them!
She pointed her hoof upwards as an idea popped into her head. "I've got an idea! Why don't we make some hot chocolate and give it to phonies out here? Then it could keep them warm AND fill their bellies with something sweet!"

Blue watched his aunt think, which was easy considering she tilted her head whenever she was having a thought process. He jumped a bit when she suddenly hoisted her hoof into the air then declared her idea. Hot Chocolate? Blue wasn't so sure, food preparation wasn't his forte. In fact music seemed to be the main strain in his family, baking and food stuffs usually fell to Great Aunt Bon Bon's side of the family.
Then he remembered Candy Dandy had cooking in her family, through her mother. Well...maybe, "It sounds like a great idea, Auntie but I'm not ah...um...well I'm not the best at cooking. Most I can do is a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich."

"Luckily, hot chocolate is pretty easy to make." she said, "I supposed we would have to sit in front of the shop though or...well we could just use the shop itself!" she concluded, walking toward her shop down the street. "C'mon Blue! We got work to do!"
She got to the shop and found a large board that she advertised specials on and some markers.
"While I deal with the hot milk, why don't you make a sign that says something about 'Free Cocoa Here" or however you wanna word it?" she suggested, laying the board and markers next to Blue. "Then everyone can just follow the sign to us!"

Blue smiled at his aunt walked toward her shop. He was excited now. His papa and daddy would be so proud of him thinking of other phonies when it was cold outside. Once at the shop he looked at the board he was presented with.
"Alright Blue, time to write some catchy lyrics to draw in the crowd," he said to himself. On the board he wrote down, "Don't let the cold get you shaking in your horseshoes! Free Hot Chocolate!" He drew some childish art of a shaking phony then some mugs of hot chocolate with marshmellows.
"There, all done!" he smiled.

Candy came at Blue's call, and looked over his shoulder. She nodded with a smile, and said "That looks great! I like the rhyme." She went back and pulled out a large dispenser with a spout at the bottom. She edged to the rim of the counter, and placed a bowl of marshmallows next to it.
"If you want to set that up outside, I'll get the cups ready!" She dragged the bags that held the paper cups in stacks.

Blue smiled and dragged his sign outside, putting it up near the door. Setting it up so everyone could see, even across the street he looked around at all the cold phonies. No one seemed to notice at first, everyone was looking down trying to keep warm.
How could they give out the hot chocolate if no one saw. That's when he had an idea. Dragging a radio from Candy's store out he put in his favorite tunes and started dancing and singing, "Hey there big daddies! Don't let your sweet mamas keep shiverin! Warm them up with the hot chocolate we are deliverin!"

Candy heard the radio and turned from where she was setting up plastic cups. There was Blue, doing a dance and calling in customers. Candy smiled, and watched as phonies started to notice his antics and wander over to listen to him sing. Soon, the first phony made their way into the shop, shaking off the cold as the heater warmed them up. Candy Dandy poured a cup of cocoa and offered it to the mare, who's face lit up with happiness with the first sip.
Her bravery in coming in opened the gates, and soon there was a line leading out of the door. The ones in line watched Blue, clapping and swaying along with him as he danced. Candy had her hooves full inside, handing out cups and pointing those who wanted whipped cream and marshmallows to the side table where the bowls were sitting.

Blue smiled happily as the phonies began to pour in for their free hot chocolate. Some laughed and clapped with him, some even did a few jigs. One older stallion who walked with a little limp even did an old style cha-cha with his wife who couldn't help but giggle.
It all felt so good, giving to others even if there was nothing material in return. Then again Blue did get something. He got the smiles and thanks of the phonies warmed by the cocoa and by his joyful display. All in all, he knew it was good to be generous.

Soon an hour had passed, and then another. Time flies when you're having fun! Candy thought as she started to run low on hot cocoa. It was good timing however, because the line started to shorten, and fewer customers were coming in to redeem their free warm treat. The pink mare smiled for what seemed like the upteenth time as someone thanked her, then she went to the doorway here Blue was still dancing away.
"There's just enough cocoa left for somephony who might be tired from entertaining and doing good deeds." she teased, holding the door open for her nephew. "And lots of whipped cream!"Byagane319 We could call it done here if you want!
