CRASH! Tink stared at what was left of the kitchen window with pure fascination. So that's why baseball wasn't an indoor game. Slowly fear crept upon his tiny little body and he let out a little squeak. Oh no, no, no, no, no! Not another window! Mom hadn't even manage to get the last one replaced yet! He was dead, he was so dead. He should write a will, telling them that his mother was most probably his murderer...and his toys should be divided among his sisters. Wait, did he knew how to write? Tink blinked a few times, trying to remember. Yeah...probably. But no! A will wouldn't do. He wanted to LIVE. Running away then! He took off full gallop out of the house. He didn't stop until he smacked into a sign. Yelping, he rubbed his nose and looked up. Uncle Larry's threater! It probably was big enough for him to hide in...and pick up a few skills for his runaway life. Yes. perfect! He snuck inside.

A cherry red stallion bustled about the theater, cleaning up spilled popcorn and candy wrappers. Removing dust from little corners and ensuring there were no new cobweb on the stage lights. Larry finished sweeping off the stage, putting the large broom away then walking out onto the clean boards. He took a deep breath, gazing out into the empty seating hall. He could still see the audience from last night's performance, all enthralled with his rendition of the tragic store of Hamlet! He had done so well! He even had a few roses thrown by excited mares. He struck a pose and spoke out, “So full of artless jealousy is guilt, It spills itself in fearing to be spilt.” Why that line suddenly came to him he didn't know, he just knew he felt the need to express the line.

Tink stepped carefully inside the theater, placing his hooves very carefully on the ground. Spotting his uncle, he felt a shiver run down his back at his words before he went towards backstage, hoping to find a few more green or dark places to hide in.

While most phonies would not have noticed anything amiss in the theater, Larry was finely tuned to every sound and motion that went on in his beloved theater. He could see something moving and could hear the soft hoof falls of someone walking thanks to the great acoustics of the room. He walked off stage, behind the large curtain and disappeared.
Suddenly he was behind Tink, looking down at the small foal. "Tink, what pray tell, are you doing here? I do not remember C.C. announcing you intent to visit?" he asked curiously. Normally C.C. told him if she or his nieces and nephew would be coming for a visit in case he was in rehearsal. Having Tink here meant he had wandered in on his own, hopefully for instruction in the theater arts!

Tink let out a little squeak of surprise, jumping at least a foot on the air before stumbling about his hooves to look at his uncle. ". ..Hi." He blinked slowly for a moment. " Well mama doesn't know I am here, and I kinda don't want her to. Safer that way" He muttered the last part under his breath.

Larry smirked a bit as the colt jumped at his sudden appearance. Living in an old theater had it's benefits, you always knew were the hidden passages were. He looked down at the little green colt, wondering what sort of mischief he had gotten into now. He was rambunctious, as all boys are at his age. And just a bit....descructive....at times.
"So you wish this visit to be one of secrecy? Well, then if you wish me to remain silent of your whereabouts then I am afraid I will ask something in return," he grinned down at the boy.

Purple eyes narrow a fraction for a moment as he seemed to take measure of his own uncle. As mercurial as his moods were, he was still somewhat intelligent. " And do you care to to speak such favor before I lay my name on it?" When in rome...

Larry grinned, Tink was really his favorite of the group. He could speak just as elegantly as himself if he really wanted. The red stallion walked towards the stage with his little nephew, "It is a smart foal that asks definition before agreeing to any terms. My young nephew I merely require your physical labor. An endeavor that will not tax you greatly but will be of assistance to me."He hopped up on stage and showed Tink were a pile of props from his most recent play lay scattered about the floor. "Sadly not all actors and actresses are neat and tidy, most think this is the work of stage hands. But never should an actor fear mussing his hands with labor less he trip on a well laid prop." He showed Tink were the props were stored and how they were arranged by type; weapons over here, scenery over there, costume bits up high.

Tink watched with some curiosity as he was shown where everything went before he seemed to consider the whole endevor. Finally he gave a few little nods. " Then I will do this favor for your silence." The little green colt went about, picking up a few weapons with care while wearing a large hat from some custom or other. " What was the play about, uncle?"

Larry went about picking up the larger or heavier props, putting them all in their place behind the stage or in the prop room. At the young colt's question he smiled and pointed to a small bit of script on the floor. "It was a play by the great bard himself, nephew. It is called Othello. It tells a tale of a man who is destroyed by someone who is dishonest and manipulative."He points to a poster were a phony is dressed in ye olden fashion. "That is the main villain, I vile man named Iago. You see Iago wanted to be promoted, Othello was his captain. When he did not get the promotion he lied about many things, which ended up hurting a great many people. Eventually his lies were discovered and he was punished. His dishonesty was even more damaging because he was trusted by his captain."Finally he put the rest of the costumes away and smiled, "You see a stallion's word is his true worth. If you are not honest, you will never be trusted. And that can lead to a very lonely life. Even in the face of punishment or difficulty a phony must always be honest, for if he is not no one will wish his company."

Tink's ears droop a bit the longer his uncle spoke, eyes narrowing slightly as he put away a large poofy skirt away. He long seen that phonyland had a way of having coincidences. They were hard to overlook, really. He trotted to look at the poster, frowning. " But one lie, one by omission, is hardly something to throw the world off balance."

The stallion walked up and put an arm around Tink's shoulder with a soft smile. "My dear boy, even the smallest lie can hurt someone. You may not see it's effects immediately but they are there. That one crack in the glass sheet of truth makes someone's view of you skewed and broken."He swept the stage then walked Tink outside, locking the main door before turning to the staircase that lead up to his loft apartment above the theater. "And remember Tink, the world can be large. But one lie can shrink it to merely a step in either direction."

Tinker followed after him. " Everyone has a skewed attitude towards another, uncle, when that other is different from them. Lies hardly do much to change anything. They pretty flowered words that sometimes need to be said, and no, do not tell me that lies don't ever have a place in the world. Because they do."

Larry smiled down at him and tussled his hair, "Lies have a place to teach us lessons. But they should not define us. They should not be what everyone thinks of us."He pointed to the multiple posters on the wall of the theater. "You see many famous characters in stories are undone by a lie. Either out right destroyed or discover something they must change in themselves. But those that let lies define their character, always end up in a bad spot."

" Not the hair" He mumbled under his breath as he fixed his mane, although since he was already sporting a just-out-of-bed messy style, one would have to question what he was complaining about. Or fixing for the matter. He sat down, looking at the posters with some apprehension, his ears pulling back. " Lying is better then being dead."
