Story

They were exiting days back then.
Oh, they were wonderful, terrifying, exiting days.
And you never were expected to live long.

The world is a fairly mundane, boring place. Why is it this way, when looking back at the mythologies of the different cultures of the planet we live on is so diverse and strange? When there are things such as the Kyuubi of Japan (better known as Kitsune, the Nine tailed foxes), Mermaids found in the seas the world over, Dragons of all shapes and forms, Minotaurs and Gorgons in Greece, and more.

All these creatures. Were they real? Were they monsters? Were they friendly? And the magic that inevitably they either commended and drew upon? What happened to that?

No one knows.

They're not around anymore, these beings of lore.
Well... not for long.

A group of archeologists were doing a dig up in the Himalayas when the came across the ruins of a monastery. It was an old temple, with many books and items depicting these lost races, from all over the world. Among these items is a book that the archeologists, with all their study of ancient scripts, couldn't read.

So they sent it to a lab in America in secret; for if anyone heard of it, they would surly want to either destroy or abuse the knowledge contained within.

The scientists managed to decode and date the book, and found it was around when humans were first emerging in the world. And depicted on these pages were the beings of all over the world, everything from the slithering Gorgon to the mighty Minotaur, to the clever Kitsune, the mysterious Mermaids and their enchanting voiced cousins, the Sirens.

At the end of the book was described several... rituals. They required different things depending on the ritual, though these rituals always had one constant; a human woman.

The scientists wanted to know what these rituals did... but every test, every possible hypothesis, failed with none of the components used and no results. Finally, the scientists realized, that if they wanted answers... they had to do the rituals completely.

And thus, they sent out ads for young healthy woman to participate in various tests. They would be offered housing in a good apartment complex near the labs, food, and money no matter what the results of these experiments were.

Woman applied. Some had fallen on hard times and were desperate for shelter and money; others applied because they were bored; some applied to get away from abusive or insane family.

The scientists have not yet explained the purposes of these tests to them; they have simply invited them into their lab to prepare them for the various rituals and what they entail.

As the first rituals are cast and are concluded, the initial effects are dramatic-- the woman these rituals are cast on transform into these long lost races!

As more and more of the rituals are cast, something awakes in the very nature of the world around them... and it's first act upon awakening is to impregnate each of these woman transformed with quadruplets of their race.

And thus... this story begins.

Growing up in his chocolate lab and learning the fine art of chocolates and business, everything was going swimmingly until her father was set to retire. Turns out some competition wants the new President of Amerazing out of the picture...
After an attack on her when she's on her way home from work one day, she's forced to run into the lab building a few days after it announces it's need for test subjects.

Personality: Highly respectful of everyone and everything. Otherwise, laid back and cheerful, most of the time. She likes comic books and video games, and often wishes her life would get more exiting. But when she gets mad...
Bio: Her mother and father lived well for a long while. She had a relatively normal family, growing up with her parents and siblings in a nice quiet neighborhood.
Recent troubles have hurt the family though; her father has recently passed away due to cancer, and her mother is struggling to feed everyone. Hearing about the Mythos Project, she decided to volunteer. She hopes by doing so she can lessen the strain she's putting on her mother, who is taking care of her two younger siblings, her little sister and her little brother, both of whom are too young to work. She also hopes that the Lab will help her get funding for collage. She has a knack for electronics and hardware, and would like formal training in things like making motherboards and other stuff.

Yet, below her quite exterior lies a person burning with curiosity. She has just never had the courage to always act on it.
Bio: Cecelia is a orphan. She jumped from foster home to foster home but never really seemed to fit in anywhere. A year ago, she was finally considered an adult and was no longer shoved from place to place. She was to set out on her own.
It went alright for a time, but she lost the job that was just barely paying for her apartment. With no openings for a new job, she quickly lost it.
She has been on the streets since. That's when she found the advertisement for a project. It was an offer she couldn't refuse.

Bio: A young woman who is a professional flower arranger. Her dream is to own her own bouquet shop and fill it with the sweet smell of flowers. Noticing the ad, she decided to live a little and give this a shot for fun not totally expecting what she was going to be doing.

Name: Helena Kaffei

Race to Become: Gorgon
Personality: Helena is always one to enjoy a chat, especially if there is a cup of coffee to go with it. She is a friendly, confident woman who works at a local beauty salon and spa. She loves giving people makeovers, going shopping and visiting her family. Her hobbies include taking her dogs for a walk, taking dance classes, bubble baths with champagne, walks on the beach and making pottery to sell at the markets. She has a positive outlook and a never give-up-attitude to life. Helena is happy to listen to other people’s problems and try to help them if she can. Her name is pronounced Heh-lay-nah Café.
Bio: Helena grew up in a loving and close family, with an older sister and two younger brothers. She studied makeup and natural therapies (including massage). She has a good job that she enjoys. It doesn’t feel so much like work when you are doing something you love. However, working in the spa doesn’t quite pay as much as she would like. With her family encouraging her to take the next step in her relationship with her boyfriend of several years, Helena thinks it might be nice to plan for her future. Seeing the flyers around that advertised for testing volunteers, Helena decided she would try it out. It can’t be any different from when they test new makeup products, can it?
Appearance- Human: She has light hazel eyes that can appear almost golden. Long blonde hair that falls to mid back unless she is at work, when she puts it up using decorative flower ties, or ornaments such as clips, pins, combs etc. She is tall and quite busty, with an average figure (not skinny model but not overly ‘cuddly’). Her skin tone is tanned (shh, that’s not from the fake tans at work!). Helena likes to wear bright colours and she enjoys maxi dresses and long, swishy skirts. She also likes stacking bangles and dangly earrings.

Gorgon: Her hazel eyes have changed to become an intense golden hue with snakelike pupils and there is a pattern of golden scales around them. Her long straight hair is now gold and has black streaks evenly throughout in a clear pattern (not all mixed through). Four gold and black banded snakes are attached at the base of her neck where her hairline is and they arrange themselves in various positions, some holding a golden lotus in place upon her head, others draped around her neck like a necklace. Her skin has become tanned (okay, so it was fake tan before >.<), and she has a long golden snake body banded with black that merges seamlessly at the waist. The backs of her hands are slightly scaly and perhaps there are some other scales sprinkled here and there. She has a fine pair of sharp fangs and they are fully functional for envenomation in case anyone is wondering.

Personality:Corel is a timid person who becomes scared easily and is a bit of a pushover. She can be a coward when something scares her or when problems arise and she runs away from those things to hide. Corel panics easily and doesn’t cope so well in stressful situations. If she has something to say to someone or she doesn’t like them, she is usually too frightened to tell it to their face. She doesn’t like conflict or confrontation so she tries to please everybody to avoid it, which is very stressful as this normally doesn’t work and ends up with people being mad at her. Corel has a bad habit of jumping to conclusions or trying to guess what people are thinking instead of asking them outright. She tears up easily and can be very emotional which some people find annoying. Corel has a lot of phobias. Despite her various flaws, she is gentle, kind hearted, nurturing, sympathetic of other’s problems and is also polite, though soft spoken. She also has a great deal of patience. She has a sweet spot for animals and loves tea parties. She loves to read books (crafts, baking, animals, fantasy, romance) and to draw and paint and she has a romantic fantasy web comic that she’s been working on for a while that has quite a few followers. Corel works at her local library as an assistant librarian but she mostly does background tasks such as shelving books, repairing books, ordering new items for the catalogue and running errands for her co-workers (i.e. being bossed around). Her biggest fears are concerning water and she is terrified of drowning.
Bio:Corel was raised in an ordinary middle class family in a normal suburb and neighbourhood. She has a lot of happy memories of when she was younger but that was before the incident that changed everything. When she was around five years old, Corel lost her twin sister in a horrible accident. The girls got the gate to their parent’s new spa pool open and they were playing when Rochelle slipped and hit her head beneath the water. Corel had thought she was playing the hold breath contest but Rochelle had sadly drowned. Her parent’s relationship became strained in the years afterwards and their marriage split up, meaning Corel had to switch back and forth between homes growing up. She had been a playful and bubbly girl before the accident but afterwards, became withdrawn and fearful. Now she is a fully grown young woman but the events of the past have shaped her life differently into what she is now. Corel came to the lab because her mother was pushing her to try it out so that Corel can finally move out of home and be more independent. Corel finds it all very scary but she knows her mum is just trying to do what’s best for her, even though Corel would have been content to stay where she felt safe, and where the memories of her sister reside.
Appearance:A petite, slender figure and kind of a shorty at 5’4, she’s not very curvy and more straight up and down with a small bust size (something she’s rather dismayed about). She has a fair skin tone that’s a little on the pale side. Her mousy hair falls to her shoulders and her long choppy fringe falls over her eyes, which is perfect for peeking out at the world while she hides. Her eyes are a very light blue-grey and often appear silvery when she’s crying. She wears skirts, blouses, simple dresses, casual yet feminine attire that doesn’t draw too much attention and tends to be in neutral colours so she doesn’t stand out.

Personality: Blunt and doesn't like to complicate matters. To her, there is always a simple solution. She is a little too daring and doesn't know her limits well. Yet, she can occasionally have some pretty wise insight and advice, but she isn't tactful at all. More often than not she'll find a violent answer.
Bio: Works a job as a waitress in town. Or did until she was fired for nearly setting the place on fire. Which she swears was not her fault.
Her bad luck hasn't left, as her late rent has piled up and with no income it won't be long before she loses her apartment. Maggy found the flyer for Project Mythos she thought it might be a lucky save.
And a good place to hide, as her ex-boyfriend has been trying to find her. He was rather violent, but that isn't important(is what she says to brush it off).

She went to collage and studied general physics with a minor in languages. She was called in from the lab when it got this mysterious book to help decipher it. She jumped on the chance.

Personality:Calm, cool, and collected. A bit aloof at times, yet nice and easygoing. He doesn't really take his job seriously as some of the other scientists do and was pretty skeptical at first about the project, but now that he has seen some of these creatures up close he's become more curious about them.

Bio:Honestly Ratchet is sort of a science college drop out. He never got really good grades, but the only thing that really brought him to the team was his expertise on genetics and splicing. Finding it to be some kind of practical joke at first, not one to really believe in mystical fantasy creatures to begin with, he was convinced when he saw women change before his eyes. Part of him actually feels guilty for doing this, but is more curious than anything now. He is hoping to study one of the creatures in depth, chronicle their pregnancies and such, maybe even have a chance at love? Though that would be silly..wouldn't it?

Name:Alexander (Alex) Snowe

Personality: Quiet,shy, and reserved. He is friendly and kind once you get to know him and like Ratchet he sees the women as people, not just another project. Though he's a bit distant, he does his job and follows the boss, and the rules, rather well. Unlike Ratchet, he finds the transformations to be rather cool.

Bio:A young transfer from another lab. Having too many workers he was given a list of projects to join and found the Mithos project to be rather interesting. At least it sounded cool. He graduated high school and college with ease and was able to get his Masters in Neurology. He came from an average home and pretty much lived an average life, seeing fantasy become reality infront of his own eyes is rather cool and he hopes that he can be of some use to this project!

When he was a boy, he was playing with some friends in a barn when it caught fire. He has a long burn mark that rides up the front of his left leg around to the back of his foot. Alex is rather shy about it and usually hides the fact that he's got it.

Alex has short, spiked, golden hair with long bangs that cover his ears and part of his face. Misty blue eyes that always sparkle with shyness and curiosity.

He's not Mr. Universe, but he's fit. He's also got a cute face that highlights his eyes.
C).Clothing:
Most of the time he's seen in the standard lab outfit. Coat, pants, shirt and tie. Though he tends to dress in more casual and comfortable T-shirts and jeans, when he's off the clock.
D).Other:
He has no piercings or tatoos, but does have a large burn mark from when he was trapped in a burning barn as a child. It's up his left leg and he usually wears long pants to keep it hidden.

Personality: An extremely calm surface hides a very passionate and caring person. Always maintaining a cool, calm exterior because she's afraid if she doesn't her strong opinions and emotional displays will alienate her from others. However she's naturally intuitive to others emotions and has a knack for helping others unload their problems. That aura of "I'm a good listener; and a friend."
Bio: Shini grew up on a native reservation in NY state with her mother. Their father had died from drinking around her 2nd birthday so she never really knew him. Her mother and she grew up in a hard life but a happy one. Shini and her mother worked hard so that Shini could get a better life. The day Shini graduated from college was the happiest day of their families lives. Shini moved from one job to another until finally landing this one to work with women under "Special circumstance stresses."

I was driving my car, a rather simple looking vehicle down a road through the city. I was admiring the view of the sunset as I drove through the streets.

Then I heard the gunshots. And my car sink about three inches.

Feeling it now having a strange wobble, I found that my car now had 3 flat tires. DAMN! I quickly turned onto a side street, driving as far as I could, though my car seemed to be limping now.

I pulled into a parkling lot and picked a random spot near the center. Was it safe to call on my cell phone? Was this a random attack, or was I being specifically targeted? Why me of all people?

I found I had pulled into the parking lot of a large white building and I carefully got out, ducking under cars carefully as I worked my way to the doors. Maybe they had a phone inside that would be safer to use. Hopefully.

Upon approaching the building, I ducked behind a truck when I saw a familiar care drive past the parking lot. It was a vehicle of one of one of my more infamous competitors in the chocolate business... really? They're willing to go that far? Damn.

I eventually managed to work my way inside, and I immediately noticed the lobby was full of young women around my age. I flicked a silver strand of hair out of my face and sat down on a chair-- trying to blend in. Hopefully they wouldn't think to follow me in here...
