No didn't normally show, or even acknowledge, her emotions but today was different. She had a bit of a skip in her step, and she was on a mission. She's looking for one of Matope's chosen, to bless the babies she carries. Then, maybe, after she'll go find Hornbeam and tell him. Or maybe she'll wait until the sacs are ready to hatch. In any case, first is finding the legendary. After careful questioning, No believes she's found the area a stag calls home. And she's even brought a gift, a small turtle shell with several birds eggs she raided from a nest. A nice snack for anyone. Now to find the stag.
No wanders for a while, following sounds in the underbrush and hoping they'll lead her to the one she seeks. Eventually she tires and decides to rest for a bit. Carefully she puts the shell down, piling some mud around it to keep it from tipping. Then she starts grazing from the bushes nearby.
As she eats a pair of glowing eyes watch her. Fish Bones has been leading her through his territory, looking for a more suitable spot. And this one will work nicely, a place to lay down if she chooses and plenty to eat and drink. He watches as she plucks berries and leaves from the plants, noting the tiny bulge to her belly.
Finished eating, No sits down to take a small rest, her ears still scanning for sounds of rustling. And soon enough they catch something. No's just about to get up and go look when a foxbun comes out into the small clearing. At first she shrugs him off, but does a double take when her brain registers what her eyes saw. This foxbun has glowing eyes. Only one way to explain that.
Getting to her feet, No turns to the legendary and bows. "Hello revered one." she says. Gently she nudges the turtle shell toward him. "I've brought a gift, and come to ask for a blessing?" she asks, watching him and hoping he'll help her.
By nature, foxbuns always seem to smile, but Fish Bones' smile widens when she makes her request. He hops forward and examines to shell, nodding in pleasure when he sees the eggs, one of his favorites. Thank you. he replies, his voice floating into her mind.
No is shocked at hearing him in her head, and takes an uncertain step back. She didn't know the MotherFather's chosen could project thoughts. She wonders if they can hear other kin's thoughts as well.
Fish Bones watches No for a minute, then slowly hops over to her. Many kin tend to be uncomfortable with mindspeaking, but so far, he hasn't found a kin unwilling to accept a blessing because of it. Reaching No, her pats her ankle before making several loops around her. He can't read her mind, but he can read her body language. After several minutes Fish Bones answers her request. May your children find joy in the little things.
No takes in his words and wonders at them. She'd been expecting something about health or long life. But joy? She's not sure what to make of it. But a blessing is a blessing, so she give a faint smile. "Thank you." she says, sounding a bit perplexed. Bowing again, No turns and walks back the way she came. Or at least, the way she thinks she came. Time enough to puzzle out the legendary's words.
Fish Bones watches her go, waving a little paw at her before the leaves swallow her up.
