INFLUENCED ENCOUNTER

A Howler walked peacefully down a small pass-way between two fences of neighboring houses. It was happy that it had not heard or seen anything aside from the occasional infected being that was trapped in a dumpster or trying to hit its head on a wall. There weren't very many around at this point, but that was fine with it. All this abomination wanted was to be left alone to wander around and find peace in its fate. It was still afraid to die- so very afraid. That's why it avoided everything: vehicles, heights, Brawlers, Gnashers, Gorgers, well- zombies in general. The one thing it avoided above all else, however- was humans. They were absolutely dreadful. They would kill it without a moment's hesitation. It did not hear the approaching footsteps while it was trapped in its mind. Well, until it bumped into something and nearly fell.

It rolled its eyes up and saw ones with life- colorful, moving, shimmering. Oh no... oh no.... oh no oh no oh no. A howl flew from its vocal chords, hoping to stun or scare the human it had ran into as it scrambled up and took off on its lanky haunches. It howled in uncontrollable fear as it ran, trying to get away. Zombies around heard the noise and began to move towards the sound of its cry, finding humans. Growls and grunts filled the air as a group of about twenty normal infected made their way out of various crevices to follow and attack the group. Once again, they ignored Zachary. A few of the closer ones reached out with punches or simply arms to grasp onto survivors. One of them grabbed onto Yssah's arm with a vice grip and growled obnoxiously as it got closer to hold her in place. Another one stepped out of a nearby nook and swung out with a punch at Nina, and another tried to kick at Nitori. One of them grabbed a hold of Esmai's shirt from behind and growled, trying to get closer and hold her back as well. All the while, Wilhelm was unaware of the situation as he tried to chase down and silence the Howler. The others moved in, shambling slowly towards their targets.

NPC EVENT- Zachary

Zach seemed to be getting strung along this entire time. He couldn't find anything useful to do in the group. He knew he was a burden, and he didn't want to be. But... he couldn't. Especially not without Liam... And where was Stanni? He only had the nice girl. He looked up at her through teary eyes. He didn't know her name, but she was blonde too, just like him and Liam. He held onto her pant leg as they walked, huddling closer to her for comfort. After they got out of the area with the bad man shooting at them, they were walking between houses quickly. It reminded him of home, back when Mommy and Daddy were with him. That's right- Mommy and Daddy- he had to find them! The big Liam promised! He started sniveling and crying again, but he kept himself quiet. He remembered how much they hated him being loud. Where was that mean girl anyway? He didn't see her at all. He tugged on Esmai's pant leg for her attention and looked up at her, trying to rub away some of the tears. "A-are we gonna leave the big L-liam? H-he p-promised we were gonna find my... my Mommy and Daddy..."

He looked up hopefully at her until the howl made him jump in surprise and fear. He didn't know what that was... what was that thing? It was dead... it was tall... taller than the tall funny-speaking man. It was... it was taller than the big Liam! But then it ran away. He was scared, and looked up to Esmai for a second before he saw a zombie approaching. "Look out!" He managed to say it just before the zombie grabbed a hold of the nice lady's shirt. He didn't know what to do. He was so scared. So very scared. He closed his eyes and started to cry, but then he let out a pathetic little yell and ran into the zombie, causing it to trip and fall over the small zomboy.

Varyn wasted no time removing himself from the Storage facility. He hustled down the stairs and out the front door, looking down the streets to see the mass of zombies slowly approaching the Convenience Store. He huffed in annoyance and made his way across the street without being noticed, moving to flank around them. They were certainly slow enough for him to catch up to and pass before they got too close to the survivors. He did not sprint, but took off at a good pace as to conserve what energy he could while still making it to the group on time. He found no resistance as he moved along, but then he heard a howl sound out from far off in the distance. He looked at his watch: 7:04. That was not a good sign. If everyone wasn't able to make it to the outskirts on time, he might as well had just shot them each himself for all the good his plan would do. Idiot- he hadn't even done anything to prevent this. He could have said something; explained the plan- no. That would have wasted more time and created conflict in the group. He tried to convince himself that he had made the right decision, but ultimately he couldn't. He was wasting time just thinking about it. Instead, he kept running. He could hear the sounds of the caravan of undead moving nearby, and soon enough the sounds were starting to fade again. As he ran, he glanced at his watch again: 4:56. He stifled a groan and let a small frown slip across his face. He was making good time, but would it be enough?

He silently hoped that there weren't too many zombies in their area for the Howler to pose a real problem. He could still hear the thing wailing at the top of its lungs, and knew that the more time it spent alive, the worse things would get for the group. As he got closer, he popped out of an alleyway by the edge of the City, just east of the Housing District. He could hear that the Howler was much closer, and he could see two small figures moving on the fringe of the City. He took a knee and aimed down his sights. Peering through the scope, he could clearly make out Wilhelm and the Howler. Unfortunately, it looked like Wilhelm was having trouble killing it. He also noticed that none of the others had followed him out. He slung his rifle onto his back and readied his submachine gun, looking at his watch once more: 3:27. He took off in a dead sprint towards the Housing District, hoping to find the rest of the group intact.

[OOC: Well, I have no idea what's going on with you guys, but I figure you're all as busy as ever. I'm going to discontinue that practice and let this thing slow down. ▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄

It seemed that luck was nowhere to be found in the group of survivors. Of course, how could there be any sort of luck in this zombie apocalypse except for survival??? Nina had only followed the foreigner towards the locations of many homes. Homes, as she had seen from the top of the hospital, collected very few and weak zombies. Gathering towards this area could shelter them from the bombardment of the mercenaries trying to wipe this group out. Even though she thought herself as an independent, someone who survived by their lonesome, she was a target. Knowing that her new human enemies wanted her dead at any cost was not comforting. It was much less favorable knowing that they were likely gun users. Certainly not a favorable situation for a sword user like herself. However, now wasn't the time to be thinking of the human enemy but more of the zombie enemies in front of her and the group.

Nina was on the foreigner's tail when he had stumbled into a rather weak but also annoying zombie. She didn't have much of a nickname towards the zombie who pretty much was a damsel in distress. All it really did was howl and run. Running wasn't really the annoying thing but that its howl could attract dozens of zombies towards it. Plus, killing the annoying zombie wasn't on her agenda as she and the group were under attack.....again.... She had already been bruised from the previous battle but that didn't mean she couldn't fight. She would die to her dying breath to survive this tragedy. She already had her katana ready in hand when the zombie came. It tried to actually punch Nina but it probably didn't expect anything in return when her blade sliced the creature in half. Certainly, she was prepared for the worst of anything and taking down such a weak creature took very little effort. Strength wise these creatures were already decomposing considering that the host's body needed nourishment to survive. Of course, taking one zombie down wasn't going to solve the issue at hand. Zombies were collecting in the vicinity and if the someone didn't think of anything quickly then things will certainly turn for the worst.

Her eye's scanned the zombies that had made themselves clear in this vicinity. She counted nineteen so far and hoped that number would be knocked down. Clearly everyone else was being sluggish at the time and the foreigner had gone off to take care of the damsel in distress zombie. Nina took it up to herself to make an opening for herself and those around her. It appeared that the zombies were ignoring the children, for the moment. Perhaps they weren't appetizing enough compared to the more grown-up individuals around. Nina took sight of her nearby ally, the red-haired individual who had helped them in the hospital. She clearly had demonstrated her ability to take care of her own self and Nina felt the obligation to repay her. She only need to rush a couple of steps towards the red-head in order to slice off the zombie's arm. Blood spewed from this fresh wound and she silenced it with a swift cut to its neck. The neck was usually the best place to kill these zombies in comparison to the hulking mass she tried to kill earlier.

The danger the red-haired girl was in was no longer there. Perhaps the only danger was the zombie hand that still grabbed on to the new girl's shoulder. Nina didn't have the time to take care of it right now since she had other priorities. As much as she didn't like them she made her way towards the children who were paired together. The blonde-haired little boy appeared to not be able to handle the current situation and was wailing. She took care of the zombie the little boy had tripped over. The zombie appeared disoriented after the little kid tripped it over. It only made her job easy in disposing that rotting flesh of a zombie. She crouched down towards the little boy and picked him up to only place him back on his feet.
"Thank you," its all she said to the little boy as she placed a hand on its head. She patted his head before turning her back on the boy. Her gaze concentrated on the other seventeen zombies in the vicinity. Nina looked over at the other humans to see if any were in any eminent danger. Right now, it seemed that the women the young boy had attached himself to seemed in trouble. Even though zombies were weak towards her sword it didn't mean they couldn't hold their own in hand-to-hand combat. As far as she saw and remembered this women had hardly shown any significance in the group. However, she would be responsible for her death if she didn't help out.

The women appeared to be in a situation much like the red-haired companion she had helped earlier. Nina, again, sliced this zombie's arm and slashed at it in order to end its life. These zombies' numbers annoyed and with the other useful people away and busy it seemed like she was the only active one to take care of these zombies. A zombie's slayer's job was a difficult and overbearing thing to do. If she were able to deal with these zombies and get to a safe place she might be able to grab a book and enjoy a nice read.

Yssah Kruger

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯

As Yssah darted in between covers from the sniper, she heard another shot ring out through the air. This one's tone was slightly different though. She furrowed her brows as she ducked down. "What, are there two of 'em now?" She muttered under her breath before rolling out from behind the wooden barrier and behind a building support, following Wilhelm's lead. For a moment she thought he might be dead, as he dove behind a cover right as a bullet struck and took a long time to get back up. But she was able to breath easy once again once she spotted him moving a little further away. As she continued to follow the German man, still keeping under cover as best she could, she beckoned the rest to follow behind her and Wilhelm. It was a little eerie how silent it had gotten. The sniper or snipers weren't shooting as much now....

"The sniper is dead! We need to run while we can!" A German accented voice called back to her. Well... that was lucky. Maybe the second sniper she had heard from before was on their side? Yssah nodded as Wilhelm told them to hurry so they could meet up on the far side of the housing district at the edge of the city. She paused and let some of the group pass her so she could keep an eye on the youngest of their group. They were the most important to her as she had a soft spot for kids. Once at the rear of the group, they all made it out of the alleyway and into the beginnings of the rows upon rows of houses lining this side of the city. A few dead things were roaming about, but they were slow and not very concentrated so easy to bypass or kill off quickly. None of them seemed mutated at all. Or at least that's what Yssah thought until a loud howling scream echoed in her ears painfully.

One of the zombies wasn't quite normal it seemed and was now alerting every undead in the vicinity of their presence. Yssah let out a huff of frustration and drew her hand gun again, pulling out the magazine and loading it up with bullets from a cartridge full of them in her back pack. As she slid the magazine in and locked it in place, she was about to take aim at the Howler when a decaying arm took a hold of her shooting arm and jerked it off of it's target. "Ya dirty little crap weasel!" Yssah shouted at it, giving it a sturdy kick in the gut. It growled at her and gripped down tighter as she tried to rip her gun hand out of it's grasp. Luckily her blue eyed friend swung her sword down on the thing's arm and sliced it clean off, releasing Yssah from it's grip. The katana then went through it's neck and sliced it off as well, taking care of that zombie completely. "Hey, thanks, Girl!" Yssah gave a quick smile and nod to Nina before readjusting her gun and aiming for the howler again. Wilhelm was closing in on it which was good, but at the same time, he was firing shots into it and nothing was happening, plus, he was right in Yssah's line of fire. Yssah gave a small curse and kicked the ground, quickly making the decisions to give him a bit more time to try and kill it and thin out the zombies that were already closing in on the rest of the group. Once they had some breathing room, Yssah would check on Wilhelm and the howler again to see if she needed to try for a shot again.

Turning around, Yssah quickly started taking aim at the infected swarming around the small group. She sure hoped the other group of them was fairing better than they were. Shot's from her gun were fired into several zombie's heads, only one or two missing their target but none hitting members of her team. That was what was important. They all had to make it.

Cain had followed the group out of the building, picking Nitori up and carrying her as they followed the rest of their group. Both the little girl and Cain were upset that they had to split into two groups but there was nothing that could be done. Nitori cried into Cain's shoulder as he kept moving forward, both of them silent.

Once they reached the housing district, a howler started alerting other undead in the area to their presence, attracting unwanted attention. Soon they were surrounded and Cain held tight to Nitori. He could feel his energy draining from his seizure before and all the fighting and running they had been doing before. He wasn't sure how much longer he could keep this up.

Nitori let out a shrill scream as one of the zombies tried to kick at her and Cain swung his machete down on hit's leg to block it's attack. The leg was already decaying so his blade went through it easily, cutting it off and making the creature loose balance, falling to the ground. It continued crawling and swinging it's arms at them but it was slow enough it wasn't a threat anymore so Cain hoisted Nitori up a little further as not to loose grip on the little girl and watched as the rest of the group fought off the remaining undead. His breath was heavy and fast and he was feeling more and more faint by the minute. Apparently Nitori noticed, for the little girl looked up at him with a worried look.
"Cain... are you ok?" She asked, gripping his shirt in her little hands. Cain gave a weak smile to her and nodded before both of them looked over to Wilhelm. The German was busy trying to silence the howler. "Let's keep moving." Cain said in a weak voice to the others, indicating they should follow Wilhelm before more undead started following them and try to help him get rid of the awful screeching noise coming from the howler.

OOC: Crap post is crap, sorry. At least I finally got it in though. *hugs everyone* I'm sorry I have been gone for so long. I'll try to do better. DON'T LET THIS RP DIE.

SPECIAL ENCOUNTER

It wasn't fair- they never let it be. The Howler ran as fast as it could to escape from the relentless man chasing it. It felt the bullets ripping through its skin, but would not stop. It screamed out in agony and fear as one of the silenced rounds punctured its legs, shattering the frail bone in its thigh. It toppled over like a tree, faceplanting in front of the tall fence. No... no no no. No. NO! Its head craned up to see the top of the fence- ten feet above its head. It became silent for a moment, hefting itself up as best as it could and gripping the links in the metal mesh. It tried to climb up- it needed to climb up. It had to escape.

Another shot took out its right arm, causing it to lose grip on the fence and fall. It let out a pitiful and pained cry, howling out into the empty distance beyond the city limits. It could hear the stomping of bootsteps behind it and turned to face its attacker. Its eyes shook with fear, fixated on the cold stare of the human approaching it. He was intent on killing it. Its eyes moved to the small, metallic object. The gun. It didn't want to die. Not yet. Please not yet. Please. Please! It opened its mouth and let out another terrified yell before its world vanished without a trace.

The group of infected began to become less coordinated as their members were cut down and tripped, toppling over each other in a comically pathetic display of their inept abilities. While Nina was busy carving up the standing zombies and Yssah was shooting others, the one Cain toppled was able to remain relatively unnoticed due to its crawling nature. It tried to swing out and hit the man who had wronged it, but to no avail. At this point, it had been close enough to reach out to the two survivors causing the most trouble to the infected group. With a sturdy growl, it latched onto one of each of their legs, yanking on them. It tripped them both, sending them to the ground. It would be easy to dispatch, but it made them more vulnerable to the others that were still approaching. Their best bet at this point was to get out of there, and fast. There were no more howls piercing the air, and the way to the fence was clear.

NPC EVENT- Zachary

Zach Felt the zombie topple over him and shook with fear, wondering if it would eat him. It growled and tried to get up when a sword severed its head. The little boy was practically hyperventilating, looking up at the blonde girl who seemed to be in shock over her most recent ordeal, and then the new girl who had saved him. She picked him up and patted him on the head, giving thanks. He flashed a shaky smile at the girl's gratitude before nearly jumping out of his skin at the noises behind him. There were still more, and they were approaching fast! Esmai seemed to snap out of it and hit and kick the zombie nearest her, completely forgetting about her gun. It swung out at her but ended up flopping against her as the decayed matter from its brain splattered over her face. She had closed her eyes at the right time but was completely grossed out. She started trying to frantically wipe it off her face and even resorted to using her shirt. It was so nasty, but it just seemed to explode out of nowhere. She would have to remember to thank whoever it was that helped her later, even if its brains got all over her face. At least she was alive. Zach started to run, tugging on Esmai's hand to help her along. He had already heard Cain's suggestion and went to follow the sickly looking man. That's when he saw the zombie nearly at his level. "Look out!" he cried- but it was too late. The crawling zombie had already grabbed their legs and tripped them. Zach froze he was so scared. He didn't know what to do. Could he stop the monster? Could he help? Should he run?

Wilhelm shot more bullets at the Howler as he ran, aggravated with how much time it was taking just to eliminate one zombie. Finally, one of the bullets moderately incapacitated the beast. It fell to the ground with a wail and struggled to look up. What happened next surprised him: the mutated Untoten reached up and tried to climb the fence... it was still trying to run from him. He took two more shots that eventually connected with their target and caused it to lose its grip. It let out a painful and pitiful cry before turning to face him. The thing was practically shaking with fear as he approached it, looking into his eyes with despair. It was so shocking... that thing looked almost.... human. That's when he slowed down and took aim at its head. He needed to end this now so that The other survivors could make it out alive. It looked like it was ready to scramble away- or try to- but then it just let out a blood-curdling scream. He quickly silenced it by parting its skull and rupturing its brain with a bullet. He let out an aggravated sigh and looked at the mutant. He could not just brush that off as a fluke. He had been seeing far too many infected that showed consciousness and mindfulness. He took a look behind him, glad that no one else had seen that. It would be a lot easier to keep others in the dark that way. He was a soldier. He had seen the same looks, the same fear, the same light in the eyes of his enemies. He had watched the life drain from friend and foe alike... but these were for the most part normal people. They had never experienced the hell of war; they had never taken a life or watched it being taken. He thought for a moment about telling Loretta. Maybe she should know what he was thinking. After all, he trusted her more than anyone here. Glancing over at the other side of the district, he wondered how the other group was faring against the new wave of infected that had surely been called to their position by that Howler... that's right!

He snapped out of his thoughts and spun on his heel to face the district that he had run out of. He had left the group behind when he chased after the mutated Untoten. He noticed that there were quite a few zombies crowded around the group and approaching them. Two were on the ground and a few of them were heading towards him. They probably hadn't even noticed what was going on behind them. He took off 1at a dead sprint to try and help, not wanting to lose anyone. It was great that they were protecting the children, but they couldn't afford to lose anyone. Each person was equally important. He needed to get closer before he could really help- he didn't want to risk hitting a survivor while trying to shoot the zombies. He didn't know if he was going to make it in time.

"Someone help the girls!" he shouted, Hurry! Those Untoten are closing in!" As he was running in, he heard gunfire from up ahead on the left and his heart dropped. He did not take his eyes off the two women on the floor, but he saw the zombie holding on to them let go of their legs as its cranium opened up and spilled its innards. He ran over to the girls and helped them up. "Run for the fence, now! Schnell, schnell!" He looked to his left and smiled, holstering his sidearm and retrieved his assault rifle. "Wilkommen, mein Freund von mir! You are just in time." With that, he opened fire on the incoming hoard and began trailing back towards the fence.

He struggled to control his breath throughout the mad dash, shooting a few infected that he came across. As he made his way through the alleyway, he saw that the group was having some difficulties. The kids were scared, Cain looked like he was about to pass out, Esmai wasn't helping the others, and the two killing the infected were- on the ground. Fantastic. He was not at all enthused by this turn of events. All the howling was getting on his nerves, but then one was cut off mid-note. That meant the Howler was dead, and Wilhelm would be making it back to the group... hopefully. He slowed down a bit and could heard the accented voice shouting out something or other but ignored it. He was focused on the problem at hand: the two survivors on the ground. He took aim and fired a burst of bullets into the zombie's head, watching it flop lifelessly to the ground. He made no response to Wilhelm as the man helped them up and gave him a greeting. Instead, he turned around the corner and began to fire into the incoming threats in short, controlled bursts. Both ex-soldiers began to backtrack as they shot into the oncoming undead, buying time for the others to make their way out of the district. They would need to get to the fence and get out. Varyn took a moment to look at his watch and saw the time: 1:43. He stopped shooting and yelled, "We need to get over that fence, and now!" Wilhelm stopped shooting and nodded, turning and running with him. As everyone was getting over the fence, Wilhelm paused while helping to glance over at the other side of the district, nervous to see no one there. He turned to Varyn and said, "I need to go try and help the others." The Ghile-suited survivor clamped a hand down on the foreigner's wrist, shaking his head and showing him the timer on the watch: 0:33. Wilhelm looked at him in shock and then back to the empty space where the other group should have surfaced. He could have sworn that the path led there... did it lead to a different side? Were they all trapped? Varyn didn't let him put any more thought into it, pushing him to the fence and watching him reluctantly climb over, landing on the other side.

The mysterious fighter rushed over the fence and landed, turning to face the City for a moment before yelling, "Get on the ground!" He saw the caravan approaching from the streets, and noticed that the Leader was atop it. He ran and dove into Nitori, bringing her to the ground softly (barring his arms to prevent squishing her) and shielding her. His mask was facing her, piercing blue eyes locked onto her from behind the plastic.

Title Event

The caravan pushed on, moving towards their goal with grim determination. The Leader was grinning from ear to ear in anticipation of finally exacting his revenge on the b*****d who nearly killed them in the last city and killing the rest of the survivors that he had collected with him. He didn't really care that Martin was dead- that man had been planning to kill him for the entire time since he had added been added to the group. After all, he had killed Martin's entire group and blackmailed the guy into joining. It was no surprise that the man had a secret vendetta.

Minutes went by and then the howling disappeared, but they weren't quite in position to intercept the survivor group yet. "Hurry up ya lamebrain rot-bags, let's get there and kill the damned humans." He had a sinking suspicion that they were running out of time to get their job done. This was no time to be sitting around and plodding slowly down the street.

He sighed and picked up the hunting rifle by his side, moving it onto his lap. A Hoarder looked at him curiously, but was wise enough not to question his actions. That would mean certain death. It had never seen its leader wielding a weapon before, which was curious. He normally let others do things for him while he plotted and gave orders. The bearded man was certainly a mystery.

By the time they were closing in on the corner street, the Leader could see the survivors on the other side of the fence. "You won't escape." he muttered angrily, picking up his rifle and aiming down the sights. What was the best way to cause turmoil? Killing the little girl first. Then he would get his revenge. A grin spread over his face as he steadied himself, aimed, and fired. He waited to see his shot hit its mark- but was thwarted by the Ghile suited survivor diving into the girl. Instead, his bullet entered the chest of the little blonde boy to the side, blowing his chest apart and painting his rotted innards over the ground and the blonde woman near him. Rotted? He blinked in surprise, realizing that they had been traveling with a Hoarder. Did they know how to control the zombies as well? If so, he couldn't let any of them live. He quickly went to pull the bolt back on his weapon, but was thrown to the ground by a large tremor in the ground. He heard an explosion behind him, followed by more... and more... they weren't stopping. His eyes widened in surprise as he whipped his head around to see streets breaking apart and sending infernos and fireballs from below.

"...That crafty son of a-" Another explosion cut him off and ripped apart the caravan in a burst of flame and debris. The gasoline ignited from the fires and explosions set off by the reactor meltdown, which in turn lit all of the combustible gaseous kerosene. The resulting chain of explosions was enough to rip apart the sewage systems, along with the streets above them. Buildings began to topple and collapse with their foundations ripped out from under them. The ensuing carnage lasted for about ten minutes, peppering the survivors with bits of debris and smoke. The fires raged on, and there was no sign of the other half of their group or the caravan of the undead.

Varyn got up after the explosions died down, quickly picking Nitroi up and hugging her, careful to keep Zach's headless corpse from her vision. "Are you okay, Nitori?" he asked quietly, momentarily forgetting the fact that she had no idea who he was.

The other survivors would most likely be a bit dazed or in discomfort from all the smoke and debris (not to mention the series of explosions), but they would survive. Wilhelm stood up and saw that everyone seemed to be fine, save Zach. Maybe now would be a good time to go over the fact that he was a zombie. He looked at the boy's corpse, figuring that it might be too much for some to handle. Unfortunately, he didn't have anything to cover it with. He scrutinized the dead body that was not losing any blood, surrounded by bits of rotted matter and blackened blood. That wasn't really too big of a loss. He had been sure that the boy was a Hoarder, but now they didn't have to worry about it. There were only a few survivors here... the blonde girl, the new girl, the other new girl, Nitori, Cain, and Varyn. Where were the others? Where was Loretta. He began to swivel about in hopes of seeing them; seeing her.

He looked back to the crumbling city in flames and let out a pained vulgarity:"Vischgo!" He started on a tirade after that. "Vischgo! Vadantaven Ascher! Nein! Warum! Woher bist du? Warum hast du nicht zum Hier gegangen? Du kannst nicht Tot sein! Nein, nein, nein- Vadantafe!" After that, he let out a distressed yell. "Loretta..." he muttered to himself, slumping down down and gripping his head in one hand. After that, he curled his free hand into a fist and began punching the ground repeatedly with the other.

>>Off on the western edge of the City, a petite Asian woman struggled to get out from under some rubble of what used to be a house's porch roof. She was lucky she hadn't been killed, and was even more lucky that she was still conscious. All of the zombies that had been around her were now gone... she was all alone again. Coughing from the smoke, she wandered out towards a clear area with a bent and pinned fence. As she stepped over it and cleared the limits of the City, she noticed some figures up ahead, catching their breath. None of them she recognized, and they probably wouldn't recognize her. This was her chance- a new start. She didn't have to stay around that manipulative psychopath anymore. She slowly and carefully limped off to interact with the survivors...

--------------Flashback--------------

There are no other words to describe the moment except for 'the moment.' That was where Nina was currently in. She was so focused on her own survival, the group's survival, that she hardly realized the zombie behind her. She was concentrating so hard in utilizing her strength to save those around her. Why? It was because they....or at least some, have proven their usefulness. If even 1% of the group could prove to be her equal or higher in strength then she would utilize what strength she had at her disposal. Thus, that is what she had done or at least was doing until her legs gave way. She hadn't even realized the zombie because she was much too focused on the zombies that were eye-level or above. She didn't bother looking down below or more importantly behind her. Well, once her entire body went flat against the ground with a great puff of air leaving her body, she was momentarily weakened. Her katana had slid across the ground from where her fingers laid presently. She looked the zombie dead in the eye and thought about taking out her knife. Her fingers went to a small space within the space of her backpack, reaching the area where her knifes were set. Though, that apparently didn't need to be met because soon enough the zombie became lifeless.....well it became dead.

Her blue eye's went upon the foreigner. He helped her up with ease and swiftness that she was momentarily stunned. She tried to continue catching her breath and the speed that he brought her up made her head a bit dizzy. Yet, now was not the time to be relaxed considering of what was occurring. Loud explosions were being sent off nearby, at least it was near enough for her to determine that the explosions were near and strong. She picked up her katana once the dizziness alleviated a bit. Everything was becoming more and more chaotic by the minute! At least this group proved to be entertaining, there was never a dull life within this group. Of course, that just meant that she was risking her life every single minute 24/7.

The foreigner's words echoed within her head. Her gaze flew upon the fences as well as towards the other survivors. Her thoughts went on to the children, believing that they would need the most help when it came to climbing fences. So, she paused. Who should she actually help first. The people who were useful or those children who could potentially protect her in the future once they had grown? Without any desire for either choices someone made that choice for her. The little blonde child, who she had saved before, had been shot. Shot seemed like an understatement considering the hole within his chest. The little boy appeared lifeless before her even though he had been full of life just minutes ago. Its interesting how weapons can take a life so easily, even someone as young as that little boy. She didn't shed a tear. Why would she? She didn't really know who he was or what he was as her eye's scanned the contents. Perhaps it was best that she didn't socialize with that boy or else useless things like emotions might pop up during this crucial time.

On that note, Nina had almost missed why the blonde boy was killed. The man who had led her to the other survivors had made his debut. He had shielded the blonde little girl in order to save her from the bullet. Considering who he saved and why Nina believed that man had made the right choice. Though, contemplating on the results would lead her to her survival. The foreign man's words echoed again. Nina looked over to the survivors and beckoned them to come. Now was not the time to remorse for their losses since it appeared that was what the foreigner was doing. She had no idea what that man was saying but he had helped her before. He contributed greatly to everyone's as well as her own survival. She could only do what she could as she tugged on the foreigner. Clearly she could not drag that man anywhere considering her own strength was minuscule to his own. Yet, he was of great importance to everyone. She did her best to drag the large man towards the fence as well as motioning towards everyone that they needed to go.
"There is no time to grieve. You can grieve when we are safe. Now come, we must go or else someone else will have to grieve for you." She tried her best to put her thoughts into words. She thought that they may be the best words to convey the situation. It also felt like a necessity for everyone considering the chain of events that took place. However, what she said was true, people needed to get a move on or someone else would have to grieve over their own deaths. So once she had everyone's attention with her gestures and words she worked herself over towards the fence and climbed. She placed her katana back into its sheath and placed both hands upon the fence. She didn't care that she was wearing a skirt. She didn't really care who looked up because now was not the time to feel embarrassed. Her feelings were of little importance when it came to her survival. Although, her survival would also lead to the group's survival.

So, she continued to climb and jumped over the fence to reach the other side. Her eye's scanned the area through which she saw no zombies who were visible. She motioned the others to come as well as to show that it was all clear. Of course, she saw the effects of the explosion. The city appeared to crumble into mass amounts of ruble. Then again, thats all the city was to her. It really was nothing more than a hideout for her as well as a place to survive. However, it also meant that the zombies within the city were killed and would make a dent within the many other zombies she would need to kill. Not only the city, though, had been damaged. The Housing District was engulfed by a sea of red and yellow. Yet, now wasn't really the time for sightseeing. So, with everyone begging to shift around Nina went into the flattened Wasteland.

--------------Now--------------

Honestly, things happened just too quickly. She hardly had time to process everything considering there were many chain of events taking place. The city was decimated, the housing districts was in flames and now there was no real place to go back to. It was a good idea for the group to have evacuated quickly as they did. If they had been too slow perhaps none of them would be standing where they were now. Even when Nina looked back at what had happened before....it was chaotic. The Wasteland seemed almost at peace in comparison to the burning City. Yet, in this area Nina was clueless. She hadn't made it this far out of the city. She didn't ever believe she would ever leave the city due to its abundance in resources. However, it seemed that as of now those resources were burning and ultimately useless for her. At least she still had her personal belongings. If no crazy super powered zombie disturbed them tonight then perhaps they could go and find some shelter. Then, with shelter she might be able to lay down and have a good read.
"What is our next plan of action? I don't plan on staying still in this unknown place." Her tone was very factual. There was no hint of aggression, annoyance, or exasperation that one might find with a girl her age. Then again, with things being as they are now perhaps that was 'normal'. She looked towards the rest of the survivors. Her blue eye's scanning each of them. The survival group had dwindled down but that only meant that the weak were now gone and the strong had survived. At least, so far, the numbers were higher than she expected.
