[PRP] Long Lost, Not Forgotten (Royal/Espresso Brulee)

Espresso Brulee was the kind of phony that tended to keep more to himself than others. He was not the kind to go out of his way to please and socialize, often finding it a bit annoying when he would have to go out and ‘enjoy’ himself with others. The clatter and bustle of busy activities, like dances or parties, were uncomfortable for Bru, who often had little to say to others at such places. It didn’t help that this phony in particular kept slightly unusual hours, often venturing out late at night while he was wide awake due to the amount of caffeine he usually drank during the day. So it was not unusual for him to spend time alone.

The caramel maned phony had been busying himself for the last few weeks setting up a shop for himself: a still mostly empty shop, but none the less it was there. 4 sets of small tables took up the majority of the space, and in the corner was a bar polished to impeccable shine; a new espresso machine sat neatly behind the bar. Bru was floating along in his shop, belly up and hot cup in hoof, daintily sipping away at a cup of coffee.

As he glided along contently, the calm space and smooth brew was a heavenly combination for Espresso Brulee, he realized it was coming time to take the newspaper off of his long and narrow shop windows. He removed them almost lazily, using his hind legs to slowly tear away at the paper as he continued to flap in the air and enjoy his coffee. Suddenly he flipped himself around, nearly tossing his cup away in the action. Out of the corner of his eye, Bru caught a familiar shade of magenta hair trail along passed his shop and around the corner. Wondering if maybe that was the same tell-tail color of his estranged childhood friend, Bru left his shop to see if he could catch up to that phony, just to check. Though after the brown soft took precautions in locking up his shop and flew around the corner he was sadden to not immediately see the shimmer of hair he had hoped to.

He was about to give up hope, when something, or rather someone turned and bumped into him. Coming from the corner he thought was vacant, came a body that nearly knocked him onto his back. He would have landed into a dirty path way, if he had not been quick with his wings to balance himself up right. I don’t know what sort of manners you were brought up to have, but where I come from we look before……” Bru was about to be angry, before the ring of a voice made his heart beat. Eagerly, his eyes took the vision that was before him of his grown friend. “Royal Blossom!”

His mouth clammed up, as his hooves touched the ground and he took a deep sweeping formal bow. His eyes looked first at the ground, and then lightly peered up to see the lovely creature. He followed her, but hadn't thought once about what he would actually do or say once he saw her.

“Well, I suppose it’s a long….. aaaah.” Bru attempted to answer Royal’s muddle of questions but was quickly interrupted by the mare’s hug attack. He was caught by surprise, at was at first stiff and rigid in her embrace. But as the mare clung to him and whispered, the brown pegasus began to relax.

“Did you?” He couldn’t help but gently smile. “… I have missed you as well. I am a little surprised to see you as well. I thought for sure you’d be having marvelous adventures, romantic rendezvouses and fighting the good fight. But to see you in town, on the street. That is a splendid surprise.”

Bru paused and took a slight look around to see if anyone was with her. “Is no one accompanying you today? Or are you on your way to meet someone?” That was his polite way of inquiring to whether she might still be single, without having to ask brazenly.

“Ah, that’s good hear. What is important is you are enjoying helping others. “ Bru nodded sagely, thinking he sounded very wise. He was glad she was enjoying herself and making use of her time.

His bright eyes grew a little wide as he watched Royal use her magic on the cart. “That is quite a feat!” In fact, it gave him an idea of way that the two could spend a little bit more time catching up.

“Well, if you are not otherwise engaged…” Bru gave a long pause”…perhaps you could provide me with your gallant services. In exchange for a decent hot beverage? “ Bru eyed the cart a little, and whatever kind of drink they would have offered, it certainly couldn’t have been up to his own standards. The stallion didn’t want to call it sludge, but it was definitely no hot dark chocolate with chili. “I will be in town for quite a while I believe. I am in the middle of setting up a business, an elegant petite café… if you don’t mind perhaps helping me finish up the decorating?”

Bru very gently smiled at Royal’s blush. He didn’t particularly mind her affections, but he was much more reserved with showing his own feelings on the situations. He was playing it much more coolly. “Roots, yes… I do admit that would be a nice idea.”

“Hot chocolate is not a problem at all. I could make you any kind that you like.. white, milk, dark… with cinnamon and spice. If you don’t mind a rich flavor, whatever you wish would be my pleasure.” Extending an arm out, Bru pointed the way back towards his shop. “Allow me to escort you, and perhaps on the way you can regale me with your tales of your heroic deeds." Then she could do all the talking, and he could happily listen to her stories.

"I'm sure I can whip up something you will love." Arms liked, the brown pegasus began to walk the way back to the cafe. "This way, not to far. It's quaint, and there is some work to be done, though it's functional enough. It could use a touch of your charm. "

Bru led the way, happily though nonchalantly, guiding the minty mare along. He was pleased to be walking with her again, like old times. For a brief moment, he wished he wouldn't have to let go when it'd be time to open the door.
