Jack prides himself of learning things at a quick pace, soaking up even tedious bits of information just in case they happen to be useful. Prior to Deus he had been a Bioengineering major, and he carries that knowledge over to the Life Division with pride. He is used to long nights of pouring over books and being resourceful to reach deadlines, which might prove useful here as well. While sometimes the initiative is hard to find, Jack is a hard worker who knows he's capable of great things--it's just half the time he doesn't believe it's worth showing off.
Smug snake in the grass (level-headed/opportunistic/self-centered)
It's hard to read Jack because he tends to smile 99% of the time regardless of emotion, making him strangely aloof; it's a defense mechanism he developed as a young child (as people get bored trying to hit you if you don't cry) and has influenced his mentality ever since. Everything is one big game or joke to him, and it's almost impossible to make him believe otherwise.
Understanding that life is only a series of moves anyway, Jack often takes the patient route, keeping calm and watching for opportunities to strike or shape something that could benefit him; at times he can become engrossed in this impulse or his work when the "game is afoot" so to speak. His humor is at best dry and at worst scathing because he is, in a way, self-defeating, whatever his confidence on the outside is. He grew up in a home where nothing he did was "enough", and as such has come to terms with his own loserness--often this means insults slide off his back like water off a duck's feathers.
While he can socialize happily with any company with the aura of confidence and mannerisms usually reserved for a noble, he takes special attention to women--they are, after all, his favorite playthings. Sometimes he's happy to indulge them if they're "less experienced", sometimes he genuine just feels like amusing himself with a conversation, and sometimes he just wants to laugh at how inadequate they are in comparison and ignore them entirely. He approaches women like animals and treats them as such: give them a little affection, then stick a leash on them when they get annoying and ignore how they whine when you put them back in their cage at the end of the day.
Guys, though? No homo.
Musician (creative/means of expression)
His mother impressed upon him to pick up an instrument when he hit middle school in order to "round his character". As such, Jack knows how to play the guitar and violin (one for his short lived band The Ketones, the other for an orchestra that met at a local college). Music is one of the rare things he can use to bond with other people and not feel an overwhelming need to ruin it somehow. (Well, unless you have a shitty taste in music of course)
(( more to come through rp ))
Other Jack Quirks
Jack was in college with a basketball scholarship before his grades fell through He is afraid of heights, however, and has never flown on a plane before; even imagining situations that put him up high make him nervous As a kid he loved bugs, and Jack's not particularly afraid to get up close and personal with even the nastiest subjects (he found spiders especially cool) Jack has slight OCD tendencies (even numbers, everything being straight and balanced and proportional) He likes looking classy and has a thing for shoes and vests--most of his closet consist of those

Name: Owain Gwydion Nicknames: G Man/G Type of Weapon: Modified zweihander Former species of weapon: Cewri (Welsh Giant; sub species Forest Giant) Gender: Male
Personality:
Jolly Green Giant
At his core this giant is a happy, optimistic to a fault fellow who wants nothing more than to indulge in his creative tendencies and share with his colleagues what he (read: his hunter) has made. He shares Jack's ability to take in information at quick rate, though his interests were mostly rooted in the natural world (botany, horticulture, entomology, etc.), some weaponwork, and a dabble in alchemy (from lingering knowledge of what he and Ashton had worked with, though he does not know the source as a weapon).
Living anachronism
Imagine having come to Halloween just a little before the 1600s. Then imagine getting pulled up by some strange looking humans in 1990 and weaponized, losing all those memories of your new life. And finally, imagine waking up and learning people can contact anyone almost anywhere with a few pushes on this little device. Owain is terribly untrained in the new technology available today and thus will refer to things with archaic terms (ie. cellphones being scrying tools); he's utterly fascinated and obsessed with learning the ins and outs of every little thing's every little function, to Jack's annoyance.
Clobberin' time
Owain is a slow to anger/forgiving sort of fellow, as he prefers to avoid conflict whenever possible (unless they're testing out something that requires combat). He does not, however, idly stand by if there's trouble and will swiftly call for vengeance upon their enemies. In essence he is the "give a second chance, otherwise crush them" sort of person, and it's never a good idea to leave loose ends. Plus no matter how peaceable he is, he can't deny how satisfying it is to squish things.
Ghost memories
Owain sometimes feels a sense of deja vu whenever his hunter is in the middle of something in the lab. It heightens his curiosity and drives him (and consequentially his hunter since he won't shut up about it) to do more, make more, be more. Jack is his only means to alleviate this innate need to create, and as such it's not rare to see the hunter hard at work on some new project.
Other Owain Quirks
In Halloween he was appalled to see the stigma of giants being considered stupid, and thus did his very best to campaign for his brethren to rise up and challenge this notion. This carries over in his weapon form as a need to break conformity and to push the boundary, which he believes any scientist should be willing to do anyway. He also is quick to bristle at any insult towards his intelligence. Despite being mostly made of metal, Owain will still cringe at the sight of fire As he forgets names a little too quickly, he often coins nicknames to people based on distinct physical appearances, division/species, or a particular personality trait. If truly angered, he goes into a violent incoherent rage that may or may not throw his hunter's concentration off

LIFE HUNTERS
-The research and analysis division. Life Hunters not only do research on the samples and information given by the Death Division but also help develop, maintain, reinforce, and often "patch up" security on Deus itself, as well as new Hunter equipment.
- Life Hunters are the experimental division, their pride comes from their scientific approach to missions and even day-to-day Deus Ex Machina operations. They are also well-balanced in terms of power, but may focus more towards the healing and damage over time/slow/sapping poisons abilities in terms of battle.
- While not entirely necessary, many Life Hunters are trained in equipment maintenance, research, as well as helping with large projects, such as a re-modelling of the Weapons Conversion Apparatus, the Merlin 2.0 project, the Golem projects, the list goes on and on. The best Life Hunters are the ones that have been trained in such research.
- In addition, it is said that the Life Hunter division also plays a large role in the medical aspect of Deus Ex Machina, focusing more on healing over first aid maintenance, though it is usually recommended as a last minute resort...
Current Division Leader: Dr. H Current Division Assistant:Clarice Pietro
Regarding Initiation:
Jack grew up in a white collar, well-off family that restricted him in a cage of gold. When he first began to see shadows, his parents believed that he was still in the infantile stage of making up imaginary friends and ignored his pleas, and it was at the tender age of ten that he decided he was special for a reason. And nobody else could be relied upon with this duty to watch for the creeping darkness.
Rebelling against his parents often, Jack created a small site advertised as a place where people could share their own supernatural encounters, trying to find others who saw the shadows like him, slowly creating a network of contacts. Between moderating that, clubs, basketball, his then girlfriend "Lina", and high school in general, he was a very busy young man with a bright future ahead of him. It was only when his parents decided to divorce shortly after he entered college that things went down hill.
It began first with her father moving out of the city to completely remove himself from the family. Then came his girlfriend's complete and abrupt death. The stress, confusion, and anger Jack felt began to poison his life.
Within the first semester he had lost his scholarship, and within the second his GPA dropped below a 2.0 after years of almost impeccable grades. Disgraced by his mother, whom he had been living with, Jack was kicked out and forced to both withdraw from school and to crash at a friend's until he decided what to do with his life. He was pretty much out of options by the time recruiter came to him, and there was no way he'd decline the offer anyway: it validated his innate need to be special anyway. Plus he totally knew there was a factual basis in his conspiracy theory that there was a group of people like himself.

PLOT IDEAS (and points for me to remember for future ones)
[ approved by Liz as an idea ]
What was The 13th Hour?
The 13th Hour was a site Jack made in his spare time to document his supernatural experiences (mostly to assure himself it wasn't all in his head). Later, he modified and opened it to the public and allowed other users from around the world to share their stories as well. The name was inspired from the game Persona 3, in which the 13th hour was a hidden hour of darkness where the shadows appeared.
Its motto was Verum est sicco illic which, if the internet didn't lie to him, meant The truth is out there.
What was The Nightwatch?
The Nightwatch was a secret subforum he created for individuals he noticed mentioning particular and consistent buzz words like moving shadows, feelings of being watched, encountering the paranormal after peculiar events, or mentioning having always had the ability to see "something else". Jack wanted to create a community that supported and discussed the phenomena occurring around certain "more affected parties" and often postulated to them that they were like this for a reason--and that while he couldn't create a coalition against the unknown enemies since they were only human and all, he did want them all to have the validation of knowing they weren't crazy.
He was also convinced that the fluctuation of members meant something was happening to those particular people. Real life or simple disinterest? No way. Had to be a reason. Absolutely. It wasn't uncommon to see Jack leave an occasional comment to "those watching the watchers" that he was on to them.
Could my hunter have been part of it/my quest hunter be part of it?
Sure! Just ping me with their name and username for the site. ouo It's a fun little IC thing you can mention for their history and is a great way to make some connections with people/or have something in common!
OWAIN'S ORIGINS
Owain is the Legacy weapon of Creation. He was once friends with his fellow Creation Legacy character, Ashton, but lost all memories of it (and almost entirely of his former life in general) upon conversion. The lock gives off a green mist.
AUCTION INFO
gaia_crown[ The Lock ] This lock can never become unsealed. Their character's memories are eternally bound. They will never, EVER be unbound. Even if they were unbound the only thing in those memories are a jumble of chaos and confusion. These characters have been around for a long time but have fallen asleep for even longer. That means technically, they were still "student" powered when they were active. They did NOT have any special abilities in the past, and are literally, the equivalent of what students were in the past. They did NOT gain any abilities when sleeping. Whatever happened back then however, they have forgotten, and finally now, they wake up, to a new age and timeline.
They do NOT remember their old past and never will period, so it is very much like having a newly arrived Halloween character. They do NOT remember that they were asleep for that long. They simply were not existing, and now, they do.
However, what they do have is remnants of their old persona. Despite their best efforts, their tendencies flare towards Creation. Your character is innately good at creating things, at observing, and deducing, even if they don't always come to the CORRECT conclusions. They have a curious nature they cannot control. This is their OLD way. Now what they are is up to them, and up to what you want to write for their enroll (even if their old way is the new way!). HOWEVER, time to time, their old personality will peer through. Think of it as a piano player that has gotten amnesia, but their fingers still know how to play. Their are not VERY GOOD, but they were more inclined, towards Creation back then. Please make sure this works for the characters, for example, you can't just have your character suddenly know how to create a whole artificial body from scratch, but they may be very, very, curious about how to without even understanding why themselves.
Your character will occasionally have a creative memory. Something they were building. Something they were observing, or questioning. It is very vague and blurry however, without faces, or names, and just the bare jumbles of dialogue. It is mostly a feeling, a very good feel good feeling of having accomplished something greater in the past. They smile a bit, and when asked, they themselves are unsure why they are smiling or what exactly they just remembered.
If you won a Hunter, it is your character's weapon that has that trait.
All-in-all, your character behaves exactly like regular enrolled characters except for the occasional "ghost" memory, and their old characteristics, old personality, sometimes leaking through.
gaia_crown[ The Lore ] There once was a Great King. He was the Greatest King, and in his hand he held seven legacies. Creation, Protection, Pride, Grief, Destruction, Reflection, and Revenge. Each was given a purpose, a task, to be fulfilled.
- Characters DO remember this much of the lore. They can recite the Lore, but they do not know where it came from or how they know. They also are unsure of the context of what they are saying other than a warm familiarity towards the name "Great King" and an understanding of what each of the Legacies (roughly) mean, in terms of their names at least.
gaia_crown[ Glamour ] All auction piece characters immediately see through the glamour of other auction characters only, or any character with a Legacy ID 04 - 12 ID artifact (so this does NOT include Metaplot characters, but it includes the special alt art character wins). They see them as Creation/ Destruction/ Revenge/ etc.
Creation, Protection, and Pride mix well with each other. Grief is neutral towards all parties. Destruction, and Revenge mix well with each other. Reflection is considered a traitor by all parties. Protection and Revenge naturally hate each other. Creation and Destruction naturally hate each other.
This doesn't mean they ALWAYS have to hate each other, but a creature once made of Creation will have a HARDER TIME getting along with one from Destruction.
