After catching up with some at the school gates, Hel pulled away. It was time to settle back in after all of that.

“Holy s**t.” Hel breathed as she walked back towards the reaper dorms, and then laughed. “Holy s**t!” She laughed louder as she moved. That had been one hell of a ride, and she couldn’t help but reflect on it. She also noticed that, being back in her body, her real body…it felt heavy. So odd. She’d have to get use to her own body again, after being so…light, a cluster of memories for so long. Candlejack. She had been a candidate for a Goddess, she had cut a heart out, sacrificed it, given up her memories again and again, gone on a journey, spoke to others…got rather friendly with hunters, she realized now—

Hel gagged.

Ew, she’d been flirting with one of them!

Ugh.

Okay…went on a journey, grew a tree in a lake area, experienced memories of an alternate universe, climbed a violet tower, stuck a hand in her chest to get a key, maybe had a dislike for mirrors at the moment…and then…the end. Oh, she couldn’t forget all the fighting she did for loot and weapons as well! Hel paused, and stared up at the sky. The beautiful, normal, orange murky sky. Hel sucked in some air, and then released it. Yeah, that was a lot, and it was going to take some time to stop riding the high and settle back in from such an experience…but she knew she’d be fine. More than fine. Actually, even despite all that, Hel felt great. Like, really great. She had felt better than she had in a long time, even before all this, but after this…she felt even better.

Hel took off at a run, rapidly closing the distance between her and the reaper dorms. Instead of heading inside through, Hel took a run at the reaper garden wall, ran up it and leapt the rest of the way. She caught herself on the top of it, resting her weight on her arms as she peered into the garden. She pouted. Ah. Mac wasn’t in there. She hoped he might be. Ah, Jack…she was going to be talking some creeple’s ears off later about this, she was sure.

Hrm.

Should she tell Mac she took some scissors to his chest?

HRM.

She’d cross that bridge when she got to it.

Hel let go of the ledge, and let herself drop back down to the ground. Her eyes drifted down, and paused on her shadow, stretched out before her. She stared at it. Was it silly to think that even her shadow seemed more determined and resolute now? Like it was reflecting how she felt? Hel didn’t have too long to dwell on this though, since her shadow then solidified, and took on a shape she wasn’t familiar with…but the weapon on the other hand…

Hel gasped loudly as she stared at the figure wide eyed.

The reaper was stunned speechless, and could only gawk at the figure as it spoke to her. It words though, jarred the end for her. Ah, wait, yes…gaps. Gaps in her memory…she had forgotten some things, but she had willingly given those up in order to save the world she lived in, and those she cared about. Bound for greatness, huh? She’d get those memories back as well? That was gre—

“Eh!?” Hel was jarred out of her thoughts once more as she felt something heavy and cool settle upon her chest, and her head snapped down.

Woah.

Woah.

“EH!?”

Dark fingers reached up to grab and touch the lock that had manifested on her. What was this…? Was this proof that she had forgotten something? Hel tried lifting it and pulling it, but it didn’t budge. It was embedded there…Candlejack! Weird. This was definitely weird. Would it ever go away? Hel tapped her nails against it repeatedly, listening to the metallic tinkling sounds it made. Huh. It glowed a soft blue, and had some ornate detailing around the keyhole…

Hrm. Yep…apparently this was a permanent fixture for the time being. Huh. Hel blinked. Oh, wait! Her head snapped back up, and she found that figure with the familiar weapon to be gone, and her shadow was as it was. Her gaze shifted this way and that, before it settled on the lock on her chest once more. Returning her memories, huh? Yeah, she remembered giving some up…but of course, she couldn’t remember the ones she had given up…damn. Having some gaps in her memory was rather unnerving, and hopefully she wouldn’t hurt anyone’s feelings if it involved someone she knew…

Well…sporting this new thing…she was bound to be asked what in Jack’s name happened…

Hel released another breath, and then laughed. Welcome to Amityville, and all its weird and interesting happenings…hrm…wait…how did she get here, anyways? She remembered applying and actually getting on the train here…

Oh, Sweet Sally, it started.

Hel rubbed the back of her neck, and instead of being frustrated, she’d be thankful. Thankful that this lock wasn’t a chastity belt. Because she’d die if that was the case. There was always a bright side.
