They had met while he was out scouting for the tribe. It had happened a few times to make it more than just an accident each. Sweet Gale couldn't complain, as he did enjoy her company. This last time though, Timeless Sense told him they were expecting. He was ecstatic and barely gave her his lopsided grin before heading off to find a legendary, preferable Wood Spider. Especially her since they were part of the tribe, but it could be touchy. He had never talked with her before, so this would be good first for him. The buck traveled back towards the tribe, thinking of what he would ask for his children. There was so much, and well he didn't know how much would go to them, but he would do his best. Gale was practically prancing as he watched for one to show up. Even he knew that was unlike him.

He will pass almost all of the way through Vale lands before he finds Wood Spider -- who is, at this season, haunch-deep in a blackberry thicket, in turns pruning and eating her fill of the ripe black berries. At her feet, a ghostly foxbun pricks its ears up and looks around, berries held in its little paws; without turning around, Wood Spider says, "Hello, Sweet Gale." Perhaps she heard him, or perhaps she was alerted by that other part of herself that dwells in the ghost-shape at her feet. She turns around to regard him, muzzle stained purple by the berry juice, "What brings you all this way?"

He stopped as the Wood Spider spoke. He wasn't expecting such a notice at first. "Greetings, Wood Spider." Waiting for her to turn, so he could give a small bow, for he did respect her from things he heard. "I have recently found I am to have children." He shifted as he thought of how to word what the next question. "I came to find you to see if you would bless them? The mother is not part of the Vale and well..." He continued to babble, not caring if he would get in trouble for not keeping the doe out of the Vale for a long enough period.

She blinks at him bemusedly, amused by his honesty: he must not have gotten it from his father, but from Knapweed. Instead, she simply shrugs, "I doubt Wintershadow or Bird would really even look at you twice if you told them the mother wasn't from the Vale. Maybe Chase would, but who cares," she adds, in a display of atypical wry humor. "But listen to me babble, it's a blessing you're here for! Tell me about the mother."

His tail flicked, coming to realize that she meant it. They wouldn't really be upset that his female companion was not of the Vale. "That is part relief." Smiling, "Well she is really...umm. Confusing? She knows what she wants, but goes about it in some different ways. Now that I think about it, I wonder if it was on accident we kept meeting." Shrugging, since it really didn't matter to him. "While I wouldn't my kids having something of that, it would be nice if it was toned down?" It was a statement, just with a hint of question. "She has this fill of life and nothing can stop her."

"Well," she says, looking him over -- and then taking a step toward him, and then another, so that they stand close enough he can smell berries on her breath -- "I think I can help you with that." Something passes over him; it feels like a breath of cool air, as if a breeze has suddenly kicked up out of nowhere -- but the day has been rather still, warm and muggy. Maybe it was an errant breeze, but it probably wasn't. Maybe it is the special ... whatever-it-is that the Motherfather gives to its chosen. "Your children will have the swamp at their feet and their fill of it -- but they'll also have the ability to know when to stop, too." SilverShieldwolf There's the blessing! happy bday, too!
