User ImageAnahira stretched himself, not unlike a feline. His muscles were stiff from just sitting around. Sure, he'd done more than his fair share of stretches and exercising when he was waiting for something to do, but it didn't seem to compare to getting up and moving around. Either way, the shetani was content to get up and move.

Today, he was stalking the strange mute demon he'd found a few weeks back. As far as he could tell, she didn't notice that he followed her around. But then, he seemed to be good at hiding in the shadows when he wanted to. Hira could never figure out why. Maybe it was because of his father being such a p***k. Half a dozen of one, six of another.

"Any minute now..." He was waiting where she normally landed. It was the tree they'd first met under. Today, he was going to make it known that he stalked her. And the best part was, she apparently had no idea he was doing it.

Tourmaline was on her way home from collecting fruit for her meal later that night. Slung over her shoulder was a currently bulging net-bag with a plethora of nectarines that she had found at the other end of the island. The land didn't look to be tended by anyone, so she had taken her time to pluck only the ripest ones to take back to her 'nest'.

As she landed on the ground, she adjusted her pack a little so the strap wasn't digging into the same spot. She reached in and took out a fruit, taking a bite as she started to head home, a dribble of juice running to her chin. Today was just her average day.

Anahira smirked, watching her land. This time, as per many other times, she had a bag strapped to her. She had been out picking fruit for her dinner, or so he assumed. If not, she had quite a few trinkets that he would just have to be going through. But today, she was biting into a delicious looking fruit so she had been fruit picking today.

"Maline..." He murmured, stepping out into view.

Hearing a voice calling a specific nickname of hers from behind, Tourmaline spun around with wide eyes, surprised. She hadn't been expecting Anahira to be here on her way home, and it wasn't as if she'd gone out specifically looking for him; something about him was unsettling. It was probably something to do with the fact that he acted so familiar with her when she hardly knew him.

Keeping the now bitten fruit in one hand, she gave a small wave of greetings to him, then raised an eyebrow questioningly. What exactly was he doing here?

This was an all or nothing meeting. He grinned, folding his wings against his back. "I've been waiting for you for quite some time Maline." Anahira kept moving forward, attempting to get close to her.

"You've been in that grove for hours you know." He gently scolded the green and purple demon. "What have you been doing there? Looking for fruit?"

Tourmaline could feel her heart pounding against her rib cage, her senses sharpening, and her adrenalin rushing through her. At first she felt herself frozen in place as the strange man stepped towards her.

Then her eyes narrowed.

Bringing herself up to her full height and spreading out her wings, she blasted up into the sky to speed off as fast as she could. She wasn't going home; since this individual seemed to know where she had been chances were he also knew where she'd lived. She considered going to her mother's for safety, but she had done a fly-by recently and seen that the pae had moved on with another mate and a child; she would not bring danger to that. No, she was on her own.

Anahira laughed, following her quickly into the sky. He may not have been the best at flight, but she was easy to spot from a distance. A bright green and purple dot in the sky. How many other pae had the same coloring as her? Not many from what he could gather.

The shetani followed as close as he could, eventually falling back a bit. No, he wasn't done chasing her. Not in the least, but he was giving her a sense of false hope. No way was he going to give her up. Not when he was this close

She didn't stop until she found a thick undergrowth area, which she dive bombed into from the sky. Right before she hit the ground, she pulled up in order to land on her feet, then pulled the bag from her shoulders and dropped it to the ground; one last thing to worry about while running.

Looking around frantically, she found a large, fallen branch that was long enough that she could use it like a staff. Grabbing it, she ducked through the thick foliage, then hid behind a tree with the branch hugged to her staff and wings folded tight against her. She placed a hand over her mouth to silence her breathing as she tried to catch her breath, and she waited to see if she was still being followed.

Why WAS he following her? She wasn't that interesting, and she was mute! She couldn't even communicate with him! What could he possibly want with her?!

Anahira spotted where she dove. He could see the area. It was too dangerous for him to land and not expect an attack from her. Or at least from anywhere. He paused, hovering in the air for a bit. Hira grinned, falling back to approach her from the ground. Without the distraction of landing, he could be ready for anything she wanted to throw at him.

The shetani grinned to himself as he landed a distance away. He still had his eyes set on the spot she had landed. Sure, she may have been gone, but it didn't seem likely. From what he had seen of her the last few days.. She was probably going to stay and fight. He liked that about her. Quite a bit actually.

His eyes narrowed, searching for something. Anything to use as a weapon to fight back. Sure his own fists were a good choice, but while they were fun, they were just a little too brutish and didn't have the distance he would need. On the off chance, he found a breaking tree limb. It was already almost off the tree, he saw no reason not to finish breaking it. She already knew he was coming. In a swift motion, he snapped the branch the rest of the way off the tree and continued to walk in the direction she had landed in.

The loud snap of a branch echoed through the trees, and Tourmaline pressed herself against the trunk of the tree she was hiding behind. She couldn't tell which direction the snap had come from, just that it was close, and her grip on her own branch tightened.

Dear Guardians help her, she was in so much trouble right now.

Closing her eyes and swallowing the fear that was rising up in her, Tourmaline steadied herself and prepared for being found. If she could just remain hidden until dark...

He grinned, advancing forward. He kept his eyes on the spot where she'd landed and been hiding. Sure, he wasn't 100% certain she was even still there. Yes, she wasn't rustling any leaves and she'd had a chance to get away, but he didn't think she was smart enough to evade him right now.

No, she was probably too panicked to do much more than hope he wasn't going to come after her.

Testing the weight of his branch, Hira paused, stripping a few of the newer growth off the branch to give it a better grip and less bulk. It was also less obvious he was dragging a broken tree through the forest.

He didn't even bother with a slow advance. She was hiding and he needed to find her before dark. Hira was enjoying this chase, but he wasn't going to drag it out.

Finally reaching the brush he thought she was hiding in, he stuck his branch into it, pushing around a little. He was looking for her. Better to shock her with a stick than to get smacked with it.

Every rustle, every natural noise her surroundings made put Tourmaline on edge. After a while of sitting there, waiting, she began to wonder if it would be safe to at least peek out around the tree and the shielding bushes to see if he was close. She couldn't run until it was dark, but maybe if she moved quietly enough....

Right as she had been about to move, a branch jabbed through the foliage right in front of her, causing her to have squeaked should she have had a voice; thankfully because of her being mute, she made not a sound. Surprise was quickly replaced by anger and she grabbed the intruding branch with her free hand and pulled HARD, then swung downwards with her own branch in her other hand.

She didn't bother to wait to see where she connected, but as soon as she heard the sound of wood hitting Pae, she dropped both and blasted out of the forest again as fast as she could, not caring about the scrapes she was getting from the branches she was flying through.

Hira winced, wanting to scream out in pain and anger, knowing he couldn't. He'd left himself wide open for an attack and he knew it. But pain was good. Pain was something he could work through. Pain was something Hira was used to. He growled, seeing a streak of green run away from him.

Hira was loosing ground. Fast. He'd been hit in the back, but that didn't matter. He could still run. Could still use his arms. His wings might not be useful any time soon, but who needed them anyways? Moving as quickly as an injured back let him, Hira was off, chasing down Tourmaline.

He briefly wondered if she knew of the vines that she was running towards. Probably not. He walked these forests so often after he escaped, it felt almost like he knew them by heart. He grinned, trying to gain some speed.

Though she was keeping just below the tree tops, Tourmaline was completely unfamiliar with where she was now. She was avoiding the larger branches, thankfully, but not bothering to hide her path as she snapped the smaller branches she flew through.

It was only too late that she saw the thick, tangling of vines in front of her.

She attempted to break, back peddling her wings hard, but she still flew right into the mess of vines. It was almost instantly that she was tangled with no hint of where one vine ended and another began.

'Oh Guardians, please save me....' She prayed in silence, feelings the tears pricking at her eyes as she struggled and found herself only more bound. This was hopeless; he'd catch her now, and not even the Guardians would know what he would do to her. All she knew was that it wouldn't be good.

Anahira winced, watching her fall into the vines. Okay, that was it. His speed slowed, eventually coming to a stop just behind her. She was more fun putting up a fight than just kidnapping her. And she looked terrified. The shetani frowned a bit, looking around for something sharp to cut her free.

Finding nothing, he opened his mouth to let her know what was going to happen.

"Maline.. I need you to not squirm, I'm going to let you out of these vines." He offered, reaching out to start untangling her. He meant no harm, not now. Not anymore. Hira wasn't going to force her to do anything. Besides, she was probably going to hate him by now anyways. What would the point be?
