CC fussed a bit with a lock of hair, preening it back into place before going back to look over the papers she had on spread on one of the tables of a small coffee shop. Picking up a muffin from little corner of the table that was free of paper, but taken up by a now-muffin-less-plate and cup of coffee, she nibbled away at it.
She gave a very unlady-like snort at one of the papers, it was a picture of a costume she had thought of offering along with her services, but the long tail would be murder to get around with and, to be honest, she was sure she would trip or snag it somewhere. Balling it up, she precociously balance it on a little pyramid of other rejected ball-up papers.

Dainty Delta wandered from the coffee shop bar to an empty seat, holding her mug of tea aloft with her unicorn magic. She was preoccupied as she went, thinking of the lovely new book she'd purchased earlier that day, the one on romantic hoof-warmers and slouchy hats she was just dying to start working on for next season. Of course, right now even thinking of working with yarn made her want to melt, but... but... adorable hats! Oh, she couldn't wait for fall!
As she went, she bumped into a messy table with a huge load of crumpled papers atop it. The precarious mountain of papers crumbled, a few scattering on the floor. Startled, Dainty trotted backward quickly, tossing her long mane.
"Oh! I'm so sorry," Dainty Delta squeaked, putting her mug down on her table and immediately gathering the crumpled papers with her magic. She looked back up to apologize again ...
... and promptly stopped moving.
The red hair, the cream flank, the cutie mark! Could this possibly be...?
"O-oh my gosh," Delta gasped, dropping the papers for a second time.

With a suprise gasp, CC manage to grab her coffee cup, keeping it from falling from its perch near the edge of the table. She pulled it back and tilted her head, ears perking up in surprise as she heard a familiar, but much more maturate, little squeak.
She leaned over the table to look at who had bumped her neat mess off her table and stared at the familiar green horn and the prettiest eyes she ever seen. Her own eyes widen before she let out a squeak of her own. "Dainty..!" She nearly pounced on the other mare.

Dainty broke into a smile, the widest she ever really allowed herself, still shy and sweet but genuinely pleased. She started as CC came closer, but immediately regained her composure. Oh! CC looked so pretty now! She had, uhm, make up and such long eyelashes and ... and... she was so pretty! Dainty fluttered her eyelashes demurely.
No need to blush, she reminded herself internally. There's no need to blush just cause somephony else is pretty!
"O-oh, C.C., you look so -- lovely now, so elegant!" Dainty said, shyly hugging her friend briefly, then stepping back. "Oh my gosh, it's... it's been too long!"

CC gave her a gentle squeeze in their hug before pulling apart, her eyes taking her childhood friend appreciatively. She had seen Dainty as an adult before, but seeing her through adult eyes certainly brought out many more qualities to take in that had gone over her head. Still there was something she truly wanted to see more then anything else: Dainty's blushing.
She gave her a quick peck on the nose. "It really has been too long." She smiled, keeping close to her friend. "Thank you, Dainty, coming from one of the prettiest mares I know, it's a compliment I will hold close to my heart."

And that was as long as it took. Dainty Delta, although less prone to embarrassment now than she was as a foal, was still pleasantly unused to being confronted with compliments, and immediately felt her cheeks heat up when she heard one. It was part of her natural delicacy and innocence, perhaps, but she dropped her eyes and fluttered her lashes and blushed deeply. Certainly C.C. was just being nice.
"Oh, no -- you're being so sweet, like you always are. Thank you very much, and I really do mean it!" said Dainty sweetly. C.C. was such a gallant phony, she wished she could be so brazen! And look, she even wore makeup, and her mane was so fetching now, pleasingly messy... "Are you still doing the k-kiss-o-grams?"

CC nearly purrred at the sight of Dainty's blush, but smiled gently at her flustered friend. "I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it..." She crooned and then turned the papers on her table. "Why yes, I still am. It just so much to give someone a bit of a thrill."
Picking up one of the crumpled papers still on the floor, she threw it into the nearby trashcan. "What have you been doing, sweetie?" She peeked at her flank. "That's quiet the cutie mark."

Dainty Delta shook her long mane prettily, her long-lashed eyes dropped slightly in embarrassment. She really had meant to try to be less blushy around C.C., but like the other mare said -- it was hard when a phony's talent was giving others a thrill!
And it really was a thrill to see her.
"Oh -- I've just been making lace and tablecloths and a few tailored pieces at my little shop. It's been really wonderful ever since I grew... I really love my cutie mark. It's just... uhm, well, it's really me." Delta let out a little laugh. "But I guess that's what a cutie mark is supposed to be! I guess you didn't have to wait long to get yours. I remember you had it already when we were fillies! So I guess you didn't ... you know, wait up at night and wonder what it'd be when it finally showed."

"No, I don't think I ever did." She gave a soft little laugh. "I feel like I always knew that I love making people feel special and bubbly with a gentle kiss."
Inviting her to take a seat her table, the mare once again took her own seat. "Oooh, how nice." CC tilted her head with a smile. "I remember that prince costume you made me once. I still have it somewhere in the back of my closet. I think I wore it for a whole week once! I do hope you still making some wearable things, that costume was just adorable and you made it when you were a foal, imagine what you could do now."

Delta smiled brightly, her cheeks still colored but her eyes shining with pride. She nodded as C.C. mentioned the prince costume, and Delta's smile became fond remembering it. She had worked so hard on that costume when she was just a little filly, figuring out how to cut pieces and worrying so much as to whether her new friend would like it. And here it was, proof that C.C. really did like it, even though Delta knew from her first reaction back then that she did. It was just nice, nice to get further conformation...
"Oh, well..." said Delta, a touch shyly. "It was easy to make for you. You always did remind me of a prince."

CC gave a soft giggled at that, enjoying the color her long time friend still sported on her cheeks. "Oh? Charming and what not?" She giggled softly. "I still think you could make a few costumes for children, specially with Halloween just around the corner."
