Gold eyes anxiously scanned the forest for any hope of escape but none was to be found. Of course not, that's just my luck. Of all the trees in the forest, I had to pick this one. The small tree she was trapped in stood away from any others, a big brown wolf circling it's base. Sasha was resting on one of the higher branches, thankful wolves couldn't climb. Every time she crept to a lower part of the tree, the wolf would stop it's circling, tense, and lock eyes with her. Who knew wolves were so determined?
And all for one tiny bite of rabbit. It hadn't even been that good. Raw food here in the wild was nothing compared to the wonderful tasting food back home in the city. Not to mention the consequences weren't nearly as harsh. Back home she would have gotten a soft hit from one of the humans. But here? Here she has a wolf try to add her to the menu. How did anyone ever live out here?
For a moment as she watched the hungry wolf circle her tree, Sasha wondered if she would go back to the city if she got out of this alive. She shook her head violently and pushed back the thought. She was never going back. A wave of memories and feelings washed over her. The betrayal, the hurt, the anger, the pain. The wolf below her seemed small in comparison to the rest of her life.
A loud rumble in her stomach brought her back to the situation at hand. The rabbit she had stolen from the wolf was the only food she'd eaten in days. She really needed to find a way out of this tree.

There was nothing to do but sit think of escape plans while stuck in the tree. A few of her plans, she had already attempted and ended with her still in the tree and a few hairs on her tail pulled out by the wolf. After awhile, Sasha decided that the only way she was going to get down from this tree was when a rabbit or some other easier prey walked by, allowing for a distraction. There weren't many, if any, wolves in the city so she had no idea how long one would wait at the base of a tree. Considering she took the last of it's food though, it was probably hungrier than she was and wouldn't starve itself in hopes of catching her.
The lower branches of the tree were larger and more comfortable to sit on. Sasha had picked on out and was moving to settle on it and being her waiting game when the wolf turned away from her tree and began moving slowly away. A voice reached her ears just seconds before she spotted him. Drop and hide? Wait... Was he going to try to lure her wolf away?
"Oh no you don't." Sasha growled, mostly to herself. This was her wolf, her problems, and no one was going to come in and save the day. Help only made things worse. And she never needed help anyway. No matter what situation she found herself in, she had always pushed through it by herself. This was no different. Who did this fox think he was trying to distract a wolf for a stranger? A hero? Well, she would have no part in that. No sir.
"Hey!" She called loud enough for the other fox to hear her and to drag the wolfs attention back to herself. "Go find your own wolf mess with. This one is taken. Go away before you get hurt." Seeing that the wolfs attention was more focused on the male fox on the ground, Sasha hopped to a lower branch, shaking it lightly to draw the attention back to her. It worked. The wolf had turned back to her but hadn't moved any closer to either of them.
