 Candy Dandy had met Golden Doubloon around town, and they got to talking about adventures. They had both realized that they LOVED adventures! And talking, but the adventures were the really exciting part. After much excited babble, they settled on a treasure hunt for their adventure together. Although Candy was a full grown adult, she found herself excited about the treasure hunt. She had hidden a box in the park, and drawn up a quick map to give to Golden Doubloon when they met the next day. Candy whistled while she stood by the fountain, rolled up map in her saddlebag along with a couple of snacks, in case they should get hungry.

How excited was Golden Doubloon for this treasure hunt? Like so.flubbing.excited! She tossed and turned all night long just waiting to start the day! She found a kindred spirit in Candy Dandy, the same kind of link she shared with her crew. She could feel it in her bones that this treasure seeking adventure was going to be great! What were they going to find? Glittering gems? Shimmering coins? Ancient pieces of pirate history? Oh the possibilities were endless! The flutter filly was humming a pirate tune as she came upon the fountain. Well paint her red because Candy Dandy had beaten her to it! That must mean she wasn't able to sleep either, huh? "Candy Dandy!" She zoomed over to join the pretty pink phony at the pretty water-spouting statue. "I'm so excited!" Golden Doubloon squealed, "You ready cause I'm ready! Didja get this handy dandy map we need? I betcha had to fight ghouls or maybe creatures of the sea to get your hooves on it! Can I see it? Oh please lemme see!" Just like a bee, the little filly buzzed all around Candy Dandy in search of their treasure map. This was her first real hunt away from her crew, so the flutter was eager begin!

Candy heard the flutter of little wings before she saw the hyper filly whizzing around her head like a firecracker. She chuckled at the questions, and said "As a matter of fact I do have a treasure map!" She pulled the rolled up paper out of her saddlebag and placed it on the ground, unrolling it carefully. It wasn't the best as far as drawing, but she had tried her best to make it look authentic. There was an x in the right hand corner, with various landmarks given pirate-y sounding names. The pond had become "Mermaid's Cove, and the small copse of trees on the hill behind them was "Blackbeard's Forest". Candy was pretty proud of herself for the names. She had even consulted with Boho on what sounded the best. "Now this here be the treasure." She said, pointing to the x and making her voice slightly gravelly sounding. "Do ye think we can do it? Pirate Golden Doubloon?"

Golden Doubloon 'oohed' and 'aahed' with amazement as she fluttered over the map that Candy Dandy had worked hard to make. To the little filly, this was authentic! A real pirate's treasure map! And it was all theirs to use! Her pretty scarlet eyes darted back and forth as she tried to devour every little thing Candy Dandy had created on the map. A good pirate always knew where they were on a treasure hunt and what was around them! If not, they'd be lost at sea forever. So, Golden Doubloon felt that she had to try and remember each and everything scribbled across the paper. When she was finished, the little lassy shot Candy Dandy her signature grin, "Aye aye Pirate Candy Dandy!" She had been trying to mimic her pink friend's pirate-y tone but hers was too jumbled with excited giggles. "This is great! Where did you find this? Was it passed down from generation to generation? Oh boy, can we go now? I don't wanna miss a beat and have some liver-licking bandit stealing what's ours!" The tiny filly puffed up her chest and rested a hoof on the map. As she saw it, ya never know when a mighty gust of wind could strike and steal away this glorious piece of history. "Do ya hafta look it over one more time or are we good to go on...OUR MIGHTY ADVENTURE!" She cheered with absolute delight.

Candy was ecstatic that Golden Doubloon thought her map to be real. She nodded sagely as she flittered over it, chattering away in an absolutely adorable fashion. It was all she could do to not squeeze the wings right off of the Flutter in front of her. She was so dang cute! When she asked where she got it, Candy faltered. She hadn't thought of that. "Well....ya see....I uhmmm I got it in a game of cards!" she crowed after a bit of stuttering. "Yeah that's it. This seedy looking guy came into my shop, and asked if I played cards. I had no one in the shop, so of course I said I would." She told her story on the fly, brain spinning while trying to come up with the next part. "And I guess he wasn't as good as he thought! He ended up owing me a lot of bits, so he gave me this instead!" She nodded, picking up the map. They should probably get going if they were going to find the treasure before somephony else! Now lets get going Pirate Golden Doubloon!" she yelled, throwing a hoof into the air. "The first thing we have to do it go thirty paces east to 'Blackbeard's Forest'." she mumbled, motioning to Golden with her head and a smile.

"Wooow!" The little filly's jaw hung open with amazement at Candy Dandy's story. It was right out of the legends! Perhaps the pink mare was on her way to becoming a fixture in a grand story? Her tale would be told over the years to come! "Arrgh! You're too modest, Pirate! You must be really really good at cards. A mysterious phony wouldn't lose that easy!" She'd have to see Candy in action one of these days! It must be a sight to watch her throw down a winning deck, the loser collapsing on the table in defeat as the crowd surrounding them erupts in cheers. Certainly that's exactly how it went. Just like the movies! Golden Doubloon grinned widely and somersaulted in the air. Her glee was just too much to contain! "Aye Aye Pirate Candy Dandy!"
Her wings beat quickly as she zoomed off towards...well...not towards the Forest. Quickly realizing her mistake, Golden Doubloon flushed and laughed at herself, and then was off in the correct direction. "Think we'll see Blackbeard's ghost? Could he be hiding the treasure?! Will we have to duel to get through!? I can handle it! I'm not as strong as my crew but I'm quick! I'll confuse him and you steal his treasure!"
It was obvious Golden Doubloon had a boundless imagination influenced by books and movies. She'd fly off to explore up ahead and then come back to flutter beside Candy Dandy then go off again. To any onlookers, the pink mare was an idol to handle such a energetic phony so well.

Ac.Wings I'm sorry this took so long! My muse has been so fickle! Candy released the breath she didn't know she was holding. Phew, the little one bought her story. Saying she drew it certainly didn't create the air of mystery. She hoped Golden Doubloon didn't want to play cards anytime soon. Candy Dandy watched her fellow pirate fly the wrong way, and she was about to say something until the latter realized her mistake and came zooming back. Candy remembered when she had once held that much energy in a tiny body. If only she could have that much energy now. Her orders would never pile up! "I sure hope we don't see his ghost!" Candy exclaimed as they counted steps. "I mean, how would we fight him? He would be all...ghosty and transparent." She thought back to when she met Lemure, who was part ghost. Her legs were see through! "Maybe we can sneak around." They approached the woods, and Candy casually bumped a tree that was on the trail. It rattled a bit, and a branch fell down. A crude ghost priate costume jumped out at them, and the eyes glowed with red glowsticks she had borrowed from her father. "Arrrrrooooooooooooo!" Maple Bar howled from behind a bush where she was tied. She smelled her owner, and wanted to find her. The effect was rather nice. "It's Blackbeard's ghost!" Candy shouted, pointing a hoof at the eyes in mock horror. "Let's get out of here!" She turned tail and ran through the trees, making sure the filly followed behind. She skidded to a stop outside of the copse, panting slightly. "I can't believe you were right about the ghost!

How would they fight a ghost? Uh oh! The flutter gasped as she realized she had no idea! Golden Doubloon never thought about that before. "We could....we could..." She tapped her chin with a hoof trying to think of something that would save them in case of a ghoul attack. "Use a...box? To put them in? Or a vacuum and suck it up?" Were these even good ideas? Golden Doubloon didn't know but until a ghost revealed itself to them there was no need to worry! Anyways, Doubloon re-puffed her chest and crept beside Candy as they approached the suddenly spooky woods. She did not think this through. And just as they were drawing deeper into the home of scary trees, a fierce howl pierced the air and a frightening creature sprang from the treetops. "BLACKBEARD!" Doubloon shrieked along with Candy. And what a mighty scream it was! The big brave flutter phony was rooted in her spot and had to be dragged away from the twirling creature by Candy as she made a run for it. For a brief moment all Golden Doubloon could do was stare off into the distance with her mouth agape. "I-I can't either..." The little one whispered in sheer shock and awe. "That...was...AWESOME!" She sprang from her spot beside Candy and did a great alley-oop above her pink friend's head. "We saw a ghost!! A real PIRATE ghost! Wait until I tell the gang!" She pumped her hooves victoriously in the air, her courage back now that they were a safe distance from the phantom. "Oh!" She gasped and whirled about to look at her friend, "What are we to do now? Do we go back and fight? Is it guarding our treasure? Where's the map! We gotta see what we gotta do now!"

Candy smiled after she caught her breath. Golden seemed to be a bit braver than Candy had thought! She grabbed the map from her saddle bag and consulted it with a hoof to her chin. "Well, the X is not in Blackbeard's forest, so I guess we can just let his pirate soul rest there for now. We aren't really prepared for a fight anyway..." she trailed off, pointing a hoof to 'Mermaid's Cove' "There's the X!" she exclaimed, looking to their left. She spied the glistening water off in the distance. She looked to Golden, then partially rolled up the map. "But where are my manners? Why don't you lead us on this leg?" She offered the map to the buzzing Flutter with a grin. "Even us scurvy pirates gotta share sometimes."

Golden Doubloon was so pleased to hear that they would not be venturing back into Blackbeard's lair. The little flutter relaxed and a big sigh of relief whooshed out of her mouth. She had enough of the pirate's ghost for one day. "Good idea...I think he'll be happier if left alone." Maybe a good hundred years would be best. "The X?! Really?" Quickly she followed Candy's outstretched hoof to the glittering water. They had found it and it wasn't that far away! Brilliant! "Me? I get to lead? Oh boy!! Thank you so much!" Happy as a cicada in June, Golden Doubloon reached for the map. Just as her hoof touched the pretty paper, she paused and stared at it. Cherishing the moment, ever so carefully the little flutter took the treasure map into her care. She clutched the rolled up map to her chest and smiled brightly, "I'll do my best, Pirate Candy!" She then took off in the direction of the water, every few feet unrolling the map and double checking that they were headed in the right direction. Each time she opened up the map the little lass would 'ooh' and 'aah' like she'd never seen such a thing before. It really was a special map, probably one of the prettiest she'd ever seen! "Pirate Candy! We're almost there!" She cried with glee after loudly counting their steps. Just a few more!

"I know you will!" She said, nodding. Candy handed over the map and let the young one take the lead with a smile. Her handywork would be much more admired from close up. She stifled a giggle as Golden took her job to the next level of seriousness, stopping frequently to check the map and make sure they were going in the right direction. "That be good Pirate Golden, because my hooves be getting tired!" she said jokingly, eyes going to the ground to look for the X. The water as much closer now, and she could hear the sound of ducks quacking from its surface.

"Well good for your hooves because we're almost there!" In just a few more steps the little pirate and her friendly pink mate had made it to their destination! Golden Doubloon had taken the role of leader as best she could, making sure to get them there as quickly (and safely) as possible. They had made it to the water! The fresh water smelled wonderfully refreshing. The flutter gasped and grinned wildly as they finally matched up to the 'X' on the map. Too gleeful, Golden Doubloon didn't even notice the little crowd of youngsters that had gathered around to watch. Who wouldn't be curious after seeing the pair walking about all over the place with a big old map in their grasp? "We're here!" Golden Doubloon shouted and the cluster of fillies and colts cheered. "We're here!! We made it, Candy!!" She giggled and swooped in to hug the pink mare tightly around her neck. What an amazing trek they had been on! Now was the time to unveil the grand prize!! At last! When she finally released her friend, the flutter stared down at the 'X' on the ground. Uh oh. Now was not the time to panic! But Golden Doubloon whirled back to stare at Candy Dandy with just a teeny weenie bit of fear in her big red eyes. "D-Do we need a shovel? Did you bring a shovel, Candy? I-I think I forgot mine! Did I even have one?"

Ah the X! What a wonderful thing to find! There were foals enjoying the nice day; the sight of a grown phony and a flutter filly dashing out of the woods would have drawn even the most boring foal's attention. As it stood, as they happened upon the X, there were several fillies and colts trying not to stare at the excitable pirate. That was lost when Golden shouted. They cheered along with the pirates, and Candy returned the hug with gusto, though she did hold back for fear of breaking the poor tiny thing in half. ....and then shovels were needed. Candy slapped a hoof to her head, running it down her face. How could she forget the shovels!? "uhhhhmmm, well....it seems that the mermaids took the shovels that were stashed here!" she said, heart thundering. Oh what were they to do? Her savior came from two fillies scampering away. They ninja-ed their way behind a groundskeeper and 'borrowed' a shovel to toss in the reeds. Candy hear the rustle, and saw the handle sticking out. "HaHA! They heard us coming and got scared!" she said, silently thanking the powers that be for her luck. She grabbed the shovel and stood by the X' "Shall I being digging Pirate Golden?" she rasped.

"Victory for the pirates! Even mermaids don't stand a chance against us! It's cause we're so fierce!" Golden Doubloon rallied the crowd of kiddos to celebrate even louder. Everyone was absolutely thrilled! The little one fluttered over the 'X' and made sure to double check they were in the right spot and this was the correct one. When all was squared away with the quick once over Golden Doubloon quickly nodded to her pirate mate, "Yes please, Candy! I mean! Argh yes you should, Pirate candy!"Before they knew it the beautiful and strong Pirate Candy Dandy had unearthed the treasure! Even the tiny flutter helped dig it out with her hooves the closer it got to the surface. When all the dirt and sand was removed from the pretty chest, round of applause and shouts from the spectators lifted Golden Doubloon's spirit to new heights. It was an unbelievable feeling to find treasure in front of a crowd! They had done it! They had actually done it!! "Open it, Pirate Candy!! Lets see what has been hidden all this time! We fought ghosts to get here and scared away mermaids! It has to be something absolutely amazing!

There was quite the crowd now, and their excitement spurred Candy's digging on until finally, the chest was revealed. There was murmuring and various 'ooohh's and 'ahhh's around them as Candy pulled it up out of the hole. Candy spit out the dirt that had stuck in her mouth from pulling and nodded. "Aye aye Pirate Golden!" Candy pulled on the lock, and after a moment's struggle, it opened. What was inside was obscured by parchment paper, and with a hoof, Candy swept it aside. In the chest was piled various sweets. Chocolate covered fruits, small tarts and an abundance of cookies. Littered throughout were lollipops dusted with edible gold powder, and chocolate coins glittered from underneath cookies and tarts. Candy inhaled the scent, saying " What a treasure! " while the foals around them gasped. "We have enough treats here to last us an entire boat trip!"
