The border, Erevu decided to himself, really wasn't all that scary.

Of course, it was all because of the lack of strangers he's met. He hadn't quite met anyone who seemed dangerous or shady. In fact, he didn't meet anyone who didn't already live within the pride!

Walking quietly through the tall grass, the sun shined bright upon the land, heating his fur to a high temperature. Used to this sort of weather, Erevu simply ignored it, ears alert, eyes scanning the horizon and in between.

A bit further in the distance, just a bit inside the Prideland boundaries, laid a blue rock. Erevu blinked; no, there wasn’t such things as a blue rock. Narrowing his eyes, he hunkered down to the ground, watching it for some time, before edging forward. Whatever this was, it was best to remain careful.

Oh, he should of just stayed within the area he knew. In fact, he could of just lingered around Mala’s place a bit, sneak a few cuddles, and remain completely refreshed. But no, his vision grew closer and closer together and, because of this, he became increasingly anxious and unsure.

Which is what led him to travel even beyond the rogue lands. Of course, he wasn’t quite sure exactly where the lines were; he never really travelled this way and ignorance was weighing him down. And, when he realized that he did, indeed, reach another territory, he was unfortunate enough to collapse from the heat.

Great… I’m collapsed in a territory that just might not treat outsiders nicely… Mala… he thought faintly, thinking of the stunning lioness he met in the rogue lands. Oh, what he would give to meet up with her again, to be back to nudging her and nuzzling her. Of course, he knew eventually he would have to leave her, but he planned on visiting her as much as he could as it was…

Sighing, he allowed the blackness to consume him, efficiently passing out. He was never aware of the quiet footsteps that approached him.

Erevu finally realized what the blue rock was… It was a lion!

Blinking, he stared at the sweat matted feline currently passed out in the grass, looking around as he considered what to do. The other was obviously elder than him and definitely larger… the sweat that must of gathered in the thick fur probably only added to his weight. And he could be dangerous… what reason would a heavy coated lion have to be in the Pridelands? Warnings from his childhood and the talk he had with his father surfaced in his head before he shook his head side to side.

No, the lion was obviously passing out from the heat. He had to get him out of the sun; what kind of lion would he be if he left a possible innocent out to die? And worse, what if a pack of vicious hyena’s made their way to where the light blue lion was?

With new determination, Erevu had a quite difficult time dragging the lion on his back. After several moments of struggling, he was finally able to achieve his goal, panting and sweating himself. Looking around to make sure no enemies were nearby, he headed off in the direction of water, going slower than he’d like, legs shaky from the weight of the large lion.

It was cool.

Furrowing his eyebrows, Leli rolled just a bit, inhaled…. And sat up coughing. Shocked and still heaving with coughs, he looked around. He was in a shallow pond and soaked from tail to neck. Leli was rather confused; he was sure that he had been sprawled out in the stretching savannah, literally dying from the heat. Settling back down in the cool water, not liking the heat in the air, he finally looked around.

At the shore of the pond, lounged on a flat rock, was a several shaded brown lion. Rose eyes met crimson as he studied the other, body relaxed despite the stranger in front of him. Unlike the obviously untrusting lion in front of him, he tended to give the benefit of the doubt to strangers. Especially strangers who, quite obviously, saved his life.

”Thank you for the help,” Leli began lightly, smiling. He then eyed the others stature before ducking his head just a bit. The other seemed a bit winded and worn out. ”Ah, I hope you didn’t have to travel too far to get to this pond?” he asked as he looked around. He didn’t see the spot he was at previously anywhere in sight. Poor fellow.

Erevu opened his eyes at the sound of movement.

He was currently resting, having finally gotten in control the panting. Of course, the heavy breathing was far from subsiding but he was working on it. The rock was hot under his belly, instantly drying the sweat that was there.

Crimson eyes watching the blue lion closely, he didn’t respond to the other for a second. When he did decide to respond, he completely bypassed what was said. ”What are you doing in the Pridelands?” he asked sternly, cautiously. Watching closely, his tail whipped as thoughts raced through his head. He couldn’t possibly be a fiend or foe; who in the right mind would travel to their enemies land and pass out? Narrowing his eyes, he watched carefully, before deciding to show a bit of politeness.

”I’m Erevu, a hunter in this pride. Who might you be?” he questioned cautiously, standing up.

Leli winced at the firm tone.

So, he was obviously suspected of being an enemy. He knew it. Deciding to remain outwardly harmless, he remained in the water, watching the tiny minnows dash around his legs. ”I…” he paused, not wanting to claim he was following his visions. He looked up, noticing the narrowing of crimson eyes and growing suspicion. He smiled. ”I’ve actually never been to this side of the Rogue lands. I wasn’t aware I had reached these Pridelands. I really should stop leaving my own pride… we have snow there, you see.” Leli explained, grinning, before ducking his head to drink some water.

”I’m Leli’Takata, Ice Council member of Schnee la Neige'milima. I assure you, me being here is completely coincidental. In fact, you can escort me back to the border and watch me leave if you so please.” Leli offered, grinning. He kept up the friendly smile as he watch Erevu observe and calculate the truthfulness of it all. Obviously, something about his story bugged the lion. Leli hoped his little fib wasn’t found out and he was forced to reveal his status as a seer. He would much rather not come to that. Sighing, he really wished Pisha was there. She could always talk him out of sticky situations.

Erevu narrowed his eyes. The slight hesitation was all he needed; this lion was obviously withholding something from him.

However, this pride was a peaceful pride. And, besides that, this lion really hadn’t cause any trouble. Sizing it down to just being cranky from the strenuous work of having to drag the blue lion a large distance, Erevu forced himself to relax and step down from the rock.

He was quite startled to hear about the next part; oh, he heard of Schnee la Neige’milima from the historians and how it was enchanted with snow and blizzards. No wonder he passed out in this rather mild weather..., Erevu thought absently, smiling more. He inclined his head. ”Well, I believe you’re name, rank, and pride for the most part. Not quite your reasoning but… I’ll be happy to escort you back. Not for the sake of seeing you leave with my own eyes but to assure myself that our pride’s visitor isn’t going to pass out within our boundaries.” Nodding his head, he started moving away, waiting briefly for Leli to catch up.

He found the other to be rather odd. Who in the right mind would get a heat stroke on a day like this when there were plenty of other days that were several degrees hotter?

Leli sighed; his suspicions were confirmed. He obviously didn’t believe him on the first part.

However, Leli had to give the guy some credit for latching on to his hesitation. Smiling, he stood up and followed after the lion. ”What a gentleman you are.” he cooed, not bothering to shake out the excess what that was making his coat heavy. He felt that, if he retained the water, he would be less likely to get overheated. So, with his fluffy fur now drooping and looking rather funny, he followed his escort.

”A hunter, huh? I thought hunters hunt where the herd is. You seemed more like you were scouting to me.” Leli pointed out before shaking his head in a laugh; water flung in an arch, hitting his companion. ”Well, I guess I couldn’t judge though, could I? What accuracy is in what I’m saying? I believe I passed out before I even heard you coming.” Leli mused, making the whole situation out lighter than it actually was.

After walking for a bit more, he finally saw where he had collapsed; judging by the uprising of dirt and broken blades of grass, the poor brown lion had quite the trouble lifting him up. He smiled apologetically at the other lion.

Erevu gave him a long, sideways look. This lion was rather perceptive. ”With how observant you are, one could almost mistaken you for a seer.” he commented, eyes narrowing at the slight flicker of shock on the other lions face. Was he a seer? Erevu thought absently, arriving nearer to the border. Not that it mattered to him; seers, in this pride, was treated like any other member. They had no special treatments, unless they became a threat.

”I do plan on becoming a scout,” Erevu finally said, frowning. ”I just have to train for the position. One of these days, I want to become a head scout and maybe, eventually, a council man.” Suddenly, he gave a childish smile. ”Of course, this is all in due time and plans do tend to change every day. We’ll just have to see.” Stopping suddenly, Erevu inclined his head at the other male. ”Here is the border. Just go straight ahead and you’ll be deep within the rogue lands. It was nice meeting you, Leli, even though it was brief.” He hesitated slightly. ”Please, come back and visit. I wouldn’t mind providing hospitality to hear a few of your ventures and more about your pride. It is all very interesting.” Finally, Erevu inclined his head once more. ”Have a safe trip back. Make sure to keep hydrated.” and, with that, the lion turned on his heels to head to his own home; he believed he did enough scouting for one day.

Leli flinched then realized he practically gave away that he was indeed a seer. When the other simply commented on it and didn’t pursue the topic, Leli decided that despite the suspicion, he quite liked the other.

”I definitely will visit you once more. I would love to get to know you more.” Leli commented in return, inclining his own head. He flashed a grin then, giving his best encouraging look. ”I look forward to hearing how you’ve become a scout by the time I visit next.” Inclining his own head, he turned away. ”Mmm, I’m sure I’ll hit a few ponds on my way back. Do take care of yourself, Erevu of the Pridelands.” And with that, he walked away, heading in the direction where his heart laid; Mala’s place.

He would simply visit her before heading back to Schnee la Neiga’milima. Of course, he knew that was a lie; simply visiting was probably the last thing that would happen. He’d most likely be around her until Pisha got ahold of him and try to drag him back by an ear, nagging and complaining. Treasuring the moments he had with the Pridelander, he noted in relief that the sun was beginning to sink.
