With his mother's second litter grown up, Jagat had more free time on his hands. He was helping her take care of them. Their father was older than dirt, and Jagat was actually surprised that the male could even get a female pregnant. Okay, abandon that train of thought. He didn't need to think about that. It gave him the chills.
Walking away from his den, the orange and green lion stretched himself out. The sun was high in the sky, telling Jagat he slept in way too late and probably was going to be yelled out for being late for the hunting party. Oh well. Licking his lips a bit, he headed for one of the watering holes for a 'morning' drink. Maybe he'd see a sibling there. They were easy to spot with their reds, oranges, and yellows.

Perhaps Jagat's mother and her mother should meet - Katyria did have an obsession with babies, after all. Maybe helping someone else with theirs would make her...easier to deal with.
Indeed, Cirala had an overbearing mother, but it had made the young lioness patient and kind. That patience made Cirala a good fisher. Some might hunt down the larger prey, but from time to time she did fancy a good fish! Suddenly the lioness reached out and slapped the water, aiming for her fishy treat...
Who would have thought the watering hole he wanted to drink from already contained a fishing female? Red eyes watched her for a bit, not wanting to get in the way between a female and her meal. He knew, from experience with his sisters, that could get you slapped rather hard, and fast. Sometimes he felt his sisters had too much Firekin in them. After a moment, the orange male approached the banks and just cleared his throat.
Well, hopefully that didn't startle her. "Sorry to interrupt your fishing," he said with a sheepish grin on his face. He dipped his head and started lapping up at the water that had gentle waves rolling through it from her slapping at it. If she was actually getting fish that way, he didn't know. When it came to fishing Jagat tended to push his whole face in the water and snap until he got something. It usually worked.
