Time had seem to be flying right past her eyes lately. Not that she could complain, the life she lead was far from bad. She loved her family, her friends, and she was a pretty social butterfly who just welcomed anyone and everyone. Perhaps that was why she had allowed herself to feel feelings for Mal'Sangre. She wasn't sure what it was about him, but she just knew he was better than he let on. Even if she knew he would never admit it.

She sat at the watering hole, her paw absently playing along with the ripples. Her reflection looked the same as it always did, but there was somethin gin her face that made her stare into her own reflection's eyes. What on earth was this feeling and why the hell was it bugging her? Maybe she could ask momma later.. Though she was happy to report her mother had taken up a new beau. Just what Belle had needed..

This was the longest time Mal had stayed in one place, probably in his entire life. Conflicted feelings held him at the pride borders, too wary to join completely but too interested to leave. He was a failure, cursed, not worth anyone's time, and yet... When he thought of her, he could pretend just for a while that he didn't feel that way. That he was just like any lion. It was a comforting lie.

He wasn't sure what to call his feelings. Admiration? Fondness? Surely nothing that started with an 'L'. But there was something about her sweet spirit that drew him to her. He felt like a moth drawn to a flame. He supposed that exploring these feelings wouldn't hurt anyone... would they?

Mal found himself walking to the watering hole. He was only pulled out of this thoughts when the object of them appeared. An almost smile pulled at his lips and he moved to greet her.

"Good day, Dahlia."

She didn't think she loved him.. She really was still young when you thought about love. She was naive, and she had no idea what feeling she was feeling in her veins. She just knew she felt weird, and as weird as it was.. She wasn't too sure that she disliked it.
She hadn't been expecting to meet him, mainly because he was so touch and go on when she would see him. He was never in one spot, and he usually would run into her. She was beginning to wonder how long it would be before he wandered away, and she'd never run into him again. She didn't quite look forward to that time..

"Mal!" She said with a smile. Her eyes lit up instantly, that was just her. Seeing someone to talk to, especially Mal, brought life to her. She didn't dare ask where he had been. She wasn't sure why she refrained, she just knew she wasn't sure she cared about the answer. He was here now.

"How are you?" She asked, headbutting him gently in the shoulder when he approached her.

Despite his age Mal didn't really understand what it meant to feel connected to anyone. Mostly his connections were brief and easily forgotten, so feeling any kind of attachment was alien to him, and kind of frightening. But it didn't hurt to investigate. Or so he kept telling himself.

When Dahlia touched him on the shoulder, he felt a strange warmth in his chest. What that meant, he hadn't a clue.

"I am... fine," he said, hesitating to say anything else. Fine was a good, safe word. Not strange at all. The smile that finally broke across his face, however, was genuine. "I was looking... for prey. But I didn't find any. So I came here."
