Nia awoke with a start, her dream had not been a pleasant one. Some weird dark shadow was chasing her, and for a while she was able to dodge it. But as in all nightmares, she stumbled, and soon the creature had her pinned. Fearing for her life, the lioness did the most rational thing her dream self could think of. She lashed it across the face with her claws .. a loud roar began - but quickly vanished as she found herself in the waking world once more.

For a moment she was stunned, unable to comprehend where she was, or even how she had gotten there to begin with. Breathing heavily, she gripped her claws into the sand and tried to calm her breathing.

It had all seemed so real, yet it obviously wasn't...

"Creepy.."

Was all the female could muster as she stretched her paws out before her. A yawn escaping her lips as she tried to shoo away the frightening memories.

We can either start this one off where the other left off. Or it can just be them meeting up again. I'll leave the decision to you <3

Roz had been sleeping near the female, hoping she would rest well. He had stayed by her side for a day or two now, making sure she ate and drank, but he still was not sure that she was really recovered. Heat exposure did funny things to a lion, and the male wanted to be sure that this lioness was not permanently harmed by her experience before he let her off on her own. He was sure she found him to be a pain in her rump, but he meant well. He hoped she knew that, but one could never be sure on such things without asking. He did not want to be a bother by asking.

Roz was not sure why he could not sleep, but he thought it was something to do with the worry streaming through his head. Worry for this strange female that he had been helping recover, worry for his banus at home while he was away. He had to get a flower for Suri before he returned. That was the whole reason he had come out on this trip afterall. This stranger needed his help for the moment, but when he was done helping her, he had to get back to finding the perfect flower for Suri's garden. His banu deserved no less than the best from him, and he wanted her to know just how much he loved her.

Nia wished she could say that this was the first nightmare she'd ever had. But she knew she wouldn't be able to say it with a straight face. She knew better than to even try and pass that fib to Roz. He'd been her guardian for several days now, and with each time she slept came the return of the shadowy figure. She didn't know what it meant, or even if it did mean anything. All she knew was that it scared the dickens out of her, and she would do anything to be rid of it.

As she stretched out before her, she peaked open one eye and caught the familiar sight of Roz. He was sleeping a bit farther from her than usual. For a split second, she wondered whether she'd been tossing and turning. But quickly agreed that it was a likely cause for her to have rolled around.

"OH!"

She gasped quickly, a smile creeping across her lips.

"Y'know, i'm half expecting to wake up one morning and find you gone. Almost like you were never here in the first place." A pause filled the air, before she finally found her footing and stood up. "But you would tell me before you went back home ... right Roz?"

Roz looked over at Nia and smiled at the female. He had seen her tossing a bit, but had left her sleep. If she needed to be woken, she would wake herself. He had learned this very quickly. It was best to let her sleep if she could and help her when she needed a shoulder to lean on. The question she asked, though took him a bit off guard. Why would she expect him to disappear without a word? He had not given that impression, he hoped. He certainly would not do such a thing to her and he would have to let her know that. The male did not want her to think poorly of him especially when there was no good reason for it.

"I would tell you before I left, Nia. Until you are well, I am not going to leave you, and when we do part ways, it will be after you are safely away from my pride's lands. I do not want any harm to come to you." Roz did not want to see her captured by one of the jerks in his pride. If she was asked to return with a male that would be one thing, but he would guard her until she was well and out of danger of jerks. He hated the idea of a female being forced back to the pride, and really hated the idea of the jerks getting to procreate more. "Bad dreams again?"

Nia breathed a sigh of relief at Roz's words, while it was a relief to know he would not abandon her as she feared. She knew he had a family to return to, and she knew she was the one keeping him from it. That didn't sit well with her, despite how she tried to act around Roz. She knew he would deny that she was keeping him, but in her heart, she could only imagine what his Banus back home were thinking or doing without him.

"Thank you Roz."

She mumbled, dipping her head to his comments. She was relieved to know someone cared so much for her, so as to prevent her from being harmed in any way.

"Do you think ..." Nia paused, taking in a deep breath, hoping her words wouldn't hurt the male. "Do you think i'm well enough to go off on my own yet? I feel better, and my bones are going crazy from sitting still for so long!" Giggling at her own words, she nearly choked on them as Roz spoke.

"Y-Yeah .. the same one as i've always had. The weird black lion ... it just keeps chasing me."

Roz listened intently to what Nia had to say. The lioness' body language told him nearly as much as her words, but that was besides the point. One did not live with three banus and not have some sense of what a female was saying by how she acted. It just was not possible. He was glad to see the relief that came to her at his words. Trust was something he wanted from her because there was no reason in his mind he should not have her trust. He would not harm her and that was that.

"You are welcome, Nia. If you feel up to moving, then after a good night's rest we can certainly start traveling. I still want to keep you company until you are out away from my pride if you do not mind. It would make me feel better." Roz could not lie to her and send her off on her own. He would have felt awful if he just turned her loose and ended up some jerk's plaything. "Perhaps it is trying to say it is time for you to move on. We will see if you still have it after we get moving, huh?" To the yellow lion it made sense to try one thing and see if it cleared up the problem. She was being chased in the dream, so perhaps it had something to do with being stationary. He could only hope he helped her get rid of it.

Nia nodded in agreement to his words. Of course she would allow him to escort her, she owed him her life. So much as she didn't like to admit it, it was quite true. She trusted Roz, with her life, quite literally. "I think that sounds like a fun plan." She commented, standing to her feet and pawing her feet on the ground to awaken them from their slumber.

"I don't think i'd have it any other way, especially if it sets your mind at ease, friend." Nia dipped her head in respect to Roz. "Hmmm you might be on to something y'know? It makes me all the more anxious to get moving. Maybe then I could get some sleep."

Nia couldn't get the idea of moving again out of her head. She'd been wanting to get back on the road, ever since Roz had stopped her, and now she was finally going to get her wish. Though she admittedly would miss her friend, dearly. She would have to spend as much of her time as possible with him, while she could.

"SO! What's on the schedule for today? Can we at least do a little something? Y'know! Just to warm the joints!

Roz stretched lazily and rose to his own paws, moving toward the water they had stayed near while Nia recovered. He stooped to get a drink and looked over his shoulder at the female. "That eager to be off, hmm?" He could not help but show his amusement at her stir craziness. He got the same way when trapped inside a den for more than a day. He drove Suri nuts with it... then again, one of his banus was the same way as he, so they BOTH drove Suri nuts with it. Poor Suri had a tough time between Roz and his hybrid banu Lahoma. He was glad that Suri was understanding.

"Since you seem unwilling to sleep more now, we could try to hunt. It is light enough out to try stalking something... and that would be a good warmup. I advise drinking now and we just hunt along our way." Roz saw two reasons to do this. The first was that if she drank before they left, Nia was not as likely to have problems like she had before again. The second reason was that hunting along the way meant they would make more distance in a day, and he hoped, make the next water source by the time they stopped. Water sources were not as common around here as they could have been so it was important to try to stay near them if possible.

"You have no idea!"

She giggled happily, prancing her paws as she tried to contain her excitement. "I get jittery when i'm in one place for too long. Which is probably why I let myself get so sick in the first place, I didn't want to stop and let myself rest. IT was stupid ... I know ... but i've learned my lesson now." Nia paused a moment, and stepped closer to Roz, placing a gentle lick on his cheek,. "And its all thanks to you."

As soon as the word hunt slipped from Roz's lips, Nia jumped up into the air, and began to run herself in circles. "OH yesyesyesyes!" She pleaded happily, taking no time in dashing over to the water and getting her fill. The refreshing feel of the cold water on her dry palette was amazing.

Finally after taking enough in to calm her dry throat, she looked over at Roz. "I'm ready when you are Captain!"

Roz returned the lick on the cheek with one of his own and let Nia get a drink in peace, taking the time to get his bearings as to where he was compared to his pride and which way the closest water was. He wanted to avoid the pride and head for the water. They should be able to find some prey at the watering hole anyway, so there was yet another reason to head that way. The male nodded to Nia when she seemed ready to get started. "I actually know what you mean quite well. I get like that when I am stuck in the den too long. Let us stretch our paws and see what we can find to eat."

Roz started off, allowing Nia to set the pace as he lead her off in the right direction to keep her safe. It was going to be a good hunt, he was sure, and the company would be amazing for the remainder of their trip together. Then, it would be back to flower hunting for Suri so he could return to his den and his mates. He had to be home sometime to give his banus cubs, and he knew that they missed him when he was not home. Ah home, he could not wait to see Suri's face when he finally got there with a new flower for her.
