The snow was already thin on the ground, sporadic patches of white scattered across the dark soil; winter was coming to an end. Still, out here, far at the borders of the Swamp, the trees remained entirely bare, skeletal branches interrupting the flat blue sky. Delicate regarded the blueness for a moment, scuffed at a dwindling patch of snow, exhaled and wordlessly watched the mist of her breath - it was yet cold enough for that - hang in the air for a moment.
"And so it is," she announced, to no one in particular; no one was there. Or so it seemed.Silvershieldwolf Here is the RP, finally! Set it at the end of winter, at the edges of the Swamp, hope that's ok! <3

Nobody was around that he could see, so he set the baby owlcat down. It had been chased around by an angry bird, which did not bode well with the buck. He understood that everything needed to eat, but there was no call for chasing it around. As it moved from under his tail, the buck gave it a quick tickle. Now that was taken care of, Piercing moved on with his morning walk. He stepped up behind a doe as she spoke. "That you are on my home area? Yes it is."

The buck was good. Delicate did not make a habit of being surprised, but she had completely failed to detect his presence till the uttered line. Nevertheless, practiced enough to conceal the shock: she stood still, impassive.
"I didn't realise you'd put your name on it," she said evenly, before finally turning to meet his eye. Ah. He was a handsome one, too, if unusual around the horns and face. You met all kinds, out here so far from the crowds of inner Swamp.

He gave a knowing grin. It took a lot of practice to keep from moving as one just stepped up behind. It was just as well, at least he wasn't seen protecting the owlcat. "Look closer and you will see, even in the patches of snow" Hard to see, he knew, but there were marks, just not his name. He didn't look down though, intrigued by why she was here. Regardless, he made to move her out of the area, just a tad.

That knowing grin did rather a bit to endear him to her sensibilities, so much so that she flashed him a bit of a wicked smile herself, as she made of a show of peering at the ground.
"Ah, I see it now," she announced, "so, your name is...Random Hoofprints."
The smile was still on her face when she raised her head, and bobbed it again in a little bow, "Then I apologise to have intruded upon your territory, Random Hoofprints."

A funny one it seemed she was, but he glanced down seeing how one would get that name. "Well, that will work for now, Intruding on Others." For knowing a name had power or a hold on said kin. "Is there something I can help you with?" Her smile was nice and it gave her an small one back.

Touché. She did like a buck who could give as good as he got.
"Help with?" she paused, gazing into the distance for a moment, "I'm not lost, if that's what you mean. Nor am I looking for something - not in the traditional sense... Tell me, Hoofprints: do you live in this bare stretch of land alone?"
Then she looked sharply back, the smile returning, "Unless, of course, you're not one for talking, and have to get back to leaving your name over your ground."

He blanked his face, not wanting to show how much he was enjoying this banter. Pawing at the mud, Piercing looked at her a bit, analyzing her in his own way. "If you are not lost, or looking for something," his eyes twinkled at that. "What did bring you to this part of the swamp, Intrudes?" A casual flick of his tail, he evaded the question of who else lived in the area. "I can always make sure you are out of the area. Expanding my territory as we walk away from this area." He smirked and winked at her.

She laughed, not caring to hide her own enjoyment. This was far more sport than she had enjoyed for the past few days, ever since she'd decided, on a whim, to undertake this journey.
"I came," she said, "simply to see. There are tales about this place, so far out from the heart of the Swamp. Some say it is treacherous. Some merely say it is dangerous. I came to see how different it is from other places. And I see it is no different. I had expected more, perhaps. It is a quiet place. What do you say, Hoofprints? How special is your home?"SilverShieldwolf And now finally a reply. QAQ I'm so sorry it's so late!
