"Go on, lass," said a grandfatherly voice. "Go on ahead."

"Thank you, Captain, sir," Knots said, slowly boarding the ship and feeling the give on the boards beneath her hooves. It felt as natural as breathing, as blinking and walking.

It was her first time on a large ship. A classic wooden vessel that creaked gently against well kept ropes. Clean sails almost glowed against the light of sunset. The faintest glimmer of stars were becoming visible. In her head, she could feel them practically charting themselves.

"She's a lovely, eh, lass?" said the captain behind her. "We set sail in the morning. Are ye sure you're ready to come along?"

Knots put her hooves on the wheel and looked to the horizon. Without looking at him, she gave a broad smile.

"I think I am."
