A Brief History

(I didn't want to make this long because I know I don't like reading page long historys :P)
The Msitu are ruled by a king or a queen (or both if wanted!!) they are close with nature, and usually the king/queen will have a very special bond with nature in order to be picked for ruling the pride. The Msitu were gifted with the lovely gift of a lush forest to live their lives in. IN return, they would promise to make the forest happy, so their king, Kahawia, took care of his lovely forest, and rain showers were gifted along with sunshine to keep all the trees and plants happy. Kahawia didnt want to live on his own anymore, he decided he would invite some lions and other felines he knew to join him in a gathering pride, called the Msitu. trouble was, Kahawia never really took the time to get to know anyone, so he spent his days alone is his lovely, lush forest keeping it healthy, but it was a lonely task. One day a bird flew overhead, and Kahawia had asked it to spread the word of his pride to any feline the bird had decided to meet. The avian had agreed, and in return, Kahawia had decided to let the bird make this forest his home, along with any other helpful creature looking for a place to call home.

After a while though, the bird had never come back, so Kahawia started to lose hope, but one day the gods and goddesses had sent him a message, he still to this day does not know how, but he knows not to lose hope, his pride will form someday, and he knew he should keep waiting for someone, ANYONE, to come into this lush, green, forest, and call it home just like Kahawia has.

Pride Info

Ideal colors/species:

Any feline is welcome to join, along with avians and hares. There arent REALLY any colour restrictions, but if you have a lion/leopard/whatever thats natury is considered a-ok!

Religion:

The felines of the Msitu are pretty much like Pathiests, which just means they believe in a lot of different gods and goddesses.

Celebrations:

Things are very joyous in this pride sometimes, and the pride lkes to celebrate them!

Full moon:
Full moons cast a beautiful light across the forest, along with the gleaming stars. Members are encouraged to bring flowers, and trinkets towards the center of the pride and gaze up into the moon, talking lightly with friends, family, and mates. or simply praying to a god or goddess the member so desires to worship.

Birth:
Birth of a new litter of cubs is a very happy time! The king or queen will come see the cubs, and make sure they have all made it healthy. Members are encouraged to see the new mother and her cubs, and bring offerings such as trinkets or flowers, or anything easily found in the forest.There will often be a Healer looking after the mother, the new mother will usually be the one to pick which Healer will take care of her during birth.

Death:
Of course, death is a very sad time for all members and family. The family and one warrior is encouraged to sit/stand vigil all night in the middle of the pride space in honor of the dead friend. Any trinkets the feline valued is brought to the body, and it shall be carried to a special spot around the outskirts of the forest for a ritual of sadness, put on by either warriors, healers, or both.

Trinkets:
Been talking an AWFUL lot about trinkets, havent i!? Trinkets in the pride are very common. Often it will be a peice of bark with symbols carved by a carver, then passed down into their famiy, or things found in the woods, such as lost jewlery, feathers, and special rocks.

Breeding/Mates:
Rouge breeding is allowed. A celebration will be held in order for the mates, and if they decide to have a litter of cubs, the parents-to-be shall share a den togeher, and help raise their new litter together, along with the help of the caretakers if the parents appear to be busy with the day.

Summer Solstice:
There is a river with a waterfall not far from the prides main land, and the summer solstice is celebrated their. All pride members are encouraged to bring a very special trinket, or flowers to put in the river.Sure this is only an instant in time where things change in the slightest of ways, but the felines of the Msitu hold a feast in celebration of change, and watch the waterfall's beauty by sunset.

The Ranks

Mfalme (king):
The leader of the pride.(taken)
Malkia (queen):
She rules besides the King. She is also a high preistess of sorts. (available *eybrow waggle*) I have some edit requests though. A matching feather like Kahawia's, also some sort of paw wraps that are beaded or beads in their hair with little braids :D I can also help pay for that if need be <33 You NEED to be a commited person to SoA, a commited mate and somewhat active Rper is required.
Heir/ess:
They are the oldest in the King and Queens litter, the one to rule the Pride next. IF in a rare case the Oldest does not want to rule the pride next, then any one of the cubs could be the next leader. (reserved for royal litter)
Royal Litter:
These are the rest of the cubs in the litter, but their default rank is this along with sprouts, an they are required to do the same tasks as the other sprouts (Royal breeding ONLY)

Council:
They make most of the desicions in the pride, with the King's permission of course.(availabe, 5 spots left, get em while you can!)
Kuhani(priest/ess) (plural=Makuhani): She/he worships the goddess, or deity, the great lioness, who is made up of everything they know of. They spend their time in the Temple (a large den with many flowers and gifts to the goddess)
Wasanii (painters):They paint the intricate symbols some Kuhani decide to have tattooed on themselves. They also make the paints that are permanent for tattooing. When they aren't busy painting the Makuhani, they help the Healers and Caretakers to help keep the forest healthy.
Healers:
The most important rank in the pride! they use the local herbs and plants to make remedies for sick felines. They also help keep the forest healthy(available, unlimited) Herb list this is for the healers, a list of local herbs in the forest
Gatherers:
They gather herbs and flowers for the healers, or whatever the healers may need, they're there. They also help with hunting when they aren't busy helping the Healers(available, unlimited)
Carvers:
They carve symbols into the trees and stripped bark to pass on, give to a loved one, or a member they think may need a trinket. (available, unlimited)
Messengers: A messengers job is a rather tough task, and involves taking messages to the Mfalme and Malkia, or to anyone else important, like healers, and council members too. They should remember everything in the message word for word, and be able to get the messages back and forth quickly. (available, unlimited)

Gaurdians:
They protect the pride from harm, make sure no trouble gets into the pride. (available, unlimited)
Hunter/ess:
They are also an important asset of the pride! they help provide all the food the pride needs to stay alive (available, unlimited, automatically given to an adol)

Caretakers
They take care of the Sprouts when their parents are busy with pride duties. When they dont have children to look after, they help the Healers look after the forest.(available, unlimited)
Sapling(s):
The cubs and juves of the pride, they also help with keeping their lovely forest healthy.(available, unlimited)

Area

The felines of the Msitu live in a large clearing surrounded by large, shady trees, the sun comes brightest in the middle of the day, and there is a water fall not far from the clearing. Summer solstice is celebrated there, and sometimes carvers will go there to carve special things for someone. Many herbs grow around the lands, so the Healers are never low on ingredients for their remedies. In between the trees on one side of the clearing, there is a large cave that serves as a den. The cave is covered with a curtain of moss, and the King/Queen have their own other cavern close to the larger cavern, the King and Queen's cavern also has a curtain of thick moss. There is the caretaker's thicket, which is in the trees, also not far from the clearing. This is where the cubs go when the parents are busy with Pride duties.

For the Makuhani (plural of Kuhani) The temple is located in a large tree, around the Caretaker's thicket. Its a nice, climbable tree, with thick, sturdy branches to hold the felines who are the Makuhani. Food is brought here and most of the Makuhani decide to make their dens here. For felines who worship any other god/goddess, the Makuhani will happily leave gifts with you, for they appreciate many different gifts from many different gods and goddesses alike. Some like to use paints to tattoo themselves with intricate symbols, and this is the Wasanii jobs, they make their dens in the temple too.
