Pink Lemonade has set herself up just outside her house. It was a lovely day and she hadn’t seen any reason to stay inside, especially when they’d just bought a super long extension cord. The young filly had a small table laden with fruit, various juices, milk and other items necessary to make mocktail concoctions. She still couldn’t get her hands on any real alcohol no matter how hard she tried. A blender had just finished creating PL’s Tropical Sensation and she young Phony poured it into a big glass. A sip later and she made a note to add less pineapple next time.

Barley Pop walked home with saddle bags filled with honey and several bitter tea herbs, even a couple of lemons. Still looking for the drink she would love to make, this week? Tea and it wasn't going well. She slowed down her paced at the sound of a blender. She checked around, well, she was still outside....so....Quickly looking about, the young filly spotted where the noise was coming from, it was kind of hard to miss. She trotted over, giving the whole set up a strange look. "...Howdy"

“Well hello there!” Pink Lemonade had noticed the other girl’s approach and she was quick to offer her broad ‘customer service’ smile. “So nice of you to come over! I’m currently in creative mode.” She stressed the last two words to show how important it was. “Only the best drink will be on the menu when I open my bar.” She lifted her head proudly. The other Phony hadn’t exactly asked for an explanation but she’d received one anyway.

Barley nodded her head politely as she listen, not very much interested until the light pink phony hit the key word. Drink. Perking up, she stared with wide attentive eyes now. "B-best drink? Really? What kind of drink?"

“Well, there are lots of kinds of course. But there is a perfect version of all of them. I think I’ve nearly mastered the art of making lemonade.” She grinned, fluffing her hair up a bit and looking very proud. “I’m going to learn how to make every drink eventually; of course, I have to wait until I’m older to really get started on the good stuff.”

"Good stuff? Like..coffee?" Her mama wouldn't let her to have coffee, at least no more then a sip and that was hardly enough to make a good review to see if that was what Barley was looking for. "Ya gonna make the best drink, right? Can I help? I never made lemonade, it's further down my list of drinks"

“Oh no.” PL giggled. “I’ve tried coffee. It’s very bitter and not very nice at all. I mean alcohol; the stuff only adult’s drink. You know, vodka, schnapps, wine, beer… those sorts of things.” She tapped a book of cocktails resting on the table. “I’ve been researching.” The little filly didn’t need to think twice about having someone join her. She had been doing this for a while and it would be nice to have an extra pair of hooves helping out. “Of course! I’m not making lemonade right now, but I’m sure we can, we have everything we need here.”

Barley tilted her head, alcohol hadn't been in her list, but it would certainly be now! "Oh, I think I heard of wine, it was in a romance novel somephony left laying around." She walked around the table and looked at the book with quiet interest before looking at her. "Alright" She grinned. "I'm Barley Pop, by the way!"

“Wine is the drink of romance, so I’m not surprised.” Pink Lemonade nodded, shuffling over to make room for Barley. “My name is Pink Lemonade. Feel free to call me Pink or PL if the whole thing feels too long.”

"Pink..." Barley repeated, committing the name to memory with a little nod. "So ya said that ya are gonna to open a bar? Sounds like fun"

“Yeah, it does.” PL beamed. “It’d nice to take care of people, give them the drinks they like and make them happy.” She flicked idly through the pages of her book. “What are you going to do when you grow up?

"I don't know...I want to make a drink that people will like." Barley looked over each page, mildly glancing towards the ingrediants availiable to them. "Something bitter and bubbly with a sweet after taste. I just can't get it right..."

PL made a thoughtful sound and flicked through the book, trying to find something that suited that description. “Maybe something like cider? Well, I’m sure you’ll find what you’re after eventually.” She smiled cheerfully. “Now, what should we make? Oh, let’s try lemon and apple together!”

"Cider? Ain't that just bubbly apple juice?" She made a bit of a face. "I dun think that's special enough." Barley gave a little smile. "I sure hope so." "Apples and lemons, alright!" She walked around the table until she found one of their ingrediants, pulling it to the cutting board.

“It’s very refreshing, especially with pear added.” She was sure that if Barley tried enough drinks, sooner or later she would find her best one. It was just a matter of determination. “I’ll clean the blender.” A bit of unicorn magic made it quick work, as she took the bender over to a nearby tap and washed out the remains of her last drink attempt.
