Leon was more than a “tad” startled. He visibly started and whirled around the face the machine that had creaked to life, a silent snarl twisting his lips up away from his teeth and showing off a formidable set of snowy white fangs. Slowly his lips lowered and his muscles began to relax, though he still held himself in a tense, ready position. He might be the more peaceful of two brothers, but he still didn’t like being messed with.

Scowling, he began to approach the machine only to have it cough and sputter, noisily jerking to a halt and dying again. His scowl lightened into an annoyed frown.

“There’s gotta be someone here messing with us,” he said flatly, looking back over his shoulder at Seras. “They might leave a mess but humans usually shut off whatever it is that powers these things when they abandon buildings. For this thing to start up again someone has to have been here tinkering with it so it had another source to draw upon.”

Calming her heart down, which was getting rather easy as this adventure progressed, Seras looked over at Leon as he reacted to the noise. It was nice to know she wasn’t the only one affected however if it wasn’t her curse she kind of felt a twinge of pity for the creature. After all annoyed slightly distressed, if you could call it that, daeva was a rather scary sight. Luckily he calmed down, although the factory was definitely starting to get to him.

Seras held in a worried frown, keeping her face neutral. They had gone to this building for her. Even if it was Leon trying to tell her she wasn’t jinxed. Still the whole getting messed with hadn’t been planned, although she should have expected it. The jinx was misfortune after all.

Seras opened her mouth to say that particular stunt may not have been some one messing with them but then again even if her curse picked up on the power for the machines there still needed to be power to work with. “Well sometimes back up machines can still be left on. Unfortunately we don’t have those nifty thumbs to work with to really mess with the machines, so maybe at least in this case. It was an accident of too much fiddling around with something? However I do agree it means someone needed to have been here. “ Seras pondered.

Leon’s expression wasn’t one happy or satisfied with this explanation, even if he himself had come up with it. “Yes, but it doesn’t make sense all the same,” he said, looking out into the factory with speculation. “I watched this place for days when I first found it, to make sure no humans were still around or no one was living here. I wouldn’t have brought you here if I thought this building was anything other than what it appeared to be, abandoned. In that whole time I didn’t see anyone coming or going, nor did I scent anyone.”

Had someone just happened to be wandering by at the time spotted the two as they walked into the building and decided to have a little fun? Nothing had happened to him on his previous visits before except the occasional sound that he could write off as being natural, and it wasn’t like things had started up immediately as they came into the building either…

“Well there are a lot of machinery smells around here, maybe they came in while you were off getting me so there hasn’t been time to develop a smell to the area or they lived here for a while and then went out visiting a relative or something so the smell faded but they just came back?” Seras tried to come up with reasons. There were of course the more mystical reasons but Leon was more of a practical daeva if his inclination to disbelieve her curse was any indication. So she wouldn’t mention the possibility of ghosts or something like that. She wasn’t entirely convinced of some apparition or something like that, however she was starting to think something not natural other than her was acting up here.

She hoped that the creature or person was done playing with them, or at least her curse was she didn’t want leon getting all stressed out. However at least if the curse didn’t behave, which was more likely than it just taking a break, she was glad that all the serious things would just happen to her and not Leon. She’d boot their butts out of here so fast if she had her brother’s affliction of causing misfortune to other things.

Leon shook his head. Not in denial about what Seras was saying, because he would only too readily believe such reasonable assumptions. He just didn’t have to like any of it; he certainly didn’t like the thought of someone who found it fun to torment others in abandoned buildings!

He took a few more cautious steps into the room, looking around and sniffing for any kind of trouble. Regardless of how he felt about the place and the potential prankster, they had to explore the place to find a way out if they didn’t want to have to make an attempt to clear the door they’d come in through.

“What do you think,” he asked, voice echoing slightly in the large room. “Keep exploring this room or try our luck with one of those other doors? There’s gotta be more than one door that leads directly out of here without having to go through a maze.”

She wondered what the creature who was playing with them, whether it be something a bit more natural or even supernatural, was getting out of the whole thing. Of course she had heard about foxes that liked to trick others just for the hell of it. Hell even Alucard occasionally fell into bits of mischievousness himself due to his own curse.
Now the question was what room to go through. Personally with both the creature playing with them and her own curse wanting to have a field day she started looking around for the less disrupted way possible. She didn’t know anything about the other doors, none of them being the lease bit open. However the rest of the current room didn’t seem too bad.
“I wouldn’t put the humans past only having one way out, although maybe keep on exploring this room?” Seras suggesting trying to think up a logical way of explaining her decision without going, ‘hey this looks like a less problematic room’.

Leon snorted, but didn't argue with Seras. He tried instead to go through his memory of what the outside of the building looked like. He had to gone around it the whole way at least once when he'd been exploring it, surly he'd seen a door somewhere. Problem was the whole building was so covered in overgrown vines that he could have very easily missed seeing a door if he hadn't been looking for one.

He really wished he could trust his flames for more than just the barest amount of light. With all the dust and goodness knows what else that might be on the floor or in those giant metal objects the humans left behind, it probably wasn't wise to do a full-on blaze. Shame, he could probably light up the whole room for a couple minutes if he really wanted to exert himself.

The big male edged further into the room, keeping cautious ears and eyes peeled for anything out of the ordinary. "Help me look for more doorways in this room then. There's got to be something in here, but it's too dark for me to see all of it."

(( 1 :: They find a closed door. ))
(( 2 :: They find several doors, some closed and some cracked open. ))
(( 3 :: There are no other doors in the room. ))
(( 4 :: Same as 1, but someone or something slams the door they came in through closed and bars it, leaving them only that door to try and go through. ))

Seras let out a small smile at his snort but none the less followed him as he edged forward concentrating on her curse. However as they moved forward down the room she noticed that the amount of light seemed to be hindering their ability to see any way to get out of the compound. It was then she wished she had better night vision. After all glowing did tend to keep one from being able to see too well in the dark.
It was then her brain seemed to click after Leon asked if she could help with seeing more doorways. “Ugh I’m braid dead occasionally” Seras muttered herself and then focused in on herself. While she couldn’t control her curse at all, she could control the amount of glow she emitted, and unlike Leon’s flames. Her glow wouldn’t catch whatever dust or other chemicals where on the ground.
The amount they could see in the room grew for a couple yards as Seras brightened her glow. It wasn’t as good as leon’s flames would have been but it was more to work with than what they had. As she walked down she noticed there were a bunch of doors. Somewhere closed shut and the others sitting there harmlessly open. The whole thing kind of reminded her of one of those horror stories Alucard liked inflicting on her.

Leon shot Seras a look of thanks, which she might have missed since he didn't see when she closed her eyes to concentrate, and began edging forward into the room. He went in the opposite direction from where Seras sat, but didn't go so far that he couldn't clearly see her or allow objects to come between them in case he had to rush to her side from some reason.

He managed to keep one eye on her and one on his own wall. When Seras brightened and moved forward to reveal a series of creepy doors, Leon noted from his dim flames that his wall appeared to be in similar condition. He couldn't tell for sure unless he put out a real flame, but he'd rather not risk it.

"Well, looks like we went from having few options to a few too many," he said in a dry, ironic voice.

Seras did in fact catch the look of thanks, and she gave out a small smile back. Considering stuff was always happening to her and she was often next to her friend, she was often blamed for things happening. She was glad for once she could actually be helpful. Of course the happy smile disappeared as she regarded to the doors.

“I think I liked the one option slightly better” Seras sighed. Multiple options could tend to be rather problematic, like almost what bad luck do you want to send your way. However maybe if Leon picked instead of her, she hadn’t had some one that wasn’t cursed really pick.

However the choices didn’t seem too friendly. The shut doors hid the unknown and what was lying behind them. The open doors hinted to the unknown and teased you with its dark interior.

Leon heaved his shoulders in a shrug. He actually liked having options for the most part, though there were always cases that he didn't mind having a few less. In this case, a few less wouldn't have been taken amiss. If his count was correct, given how the doors were spaced out, there were dozen to choose from dotting all the walls. He hadn't remembered it being so big from the outside! Surely it didn't go underground...

"Well if we're looking to get outside, I think logically the best door to go with is the one closest to the outside wall," he mused aloud, picking up his paws and carefully placing them down as he navigated the dust-covered junk on the floor.

Thanks to the door's out-of-the-way position it didn't have a clutter of junk in front of it like some of the doors did. Down side, it was one of those that was closed and didn't look like it was going to be all that happy about being opened. Leon braced himself, then moved to open the door.

(( 1.) The door opens of its own accord.))
(( 2.) The door is locked and cannot be opened.))
(( 3.) As Leon touches the door a few of the already open doors being moving like someone is wiggling them back and forth.))
(( 4.) As Leon touches the door a small, pale form suddenly comes flying down from the rafters and streaks into one of the open doorways before it can be identified.))
(( 5.) As Leon touches the door a blood-curdling shriek sounds from the other side.))
