It had been a few weeks since Aya and his sister had reached adulthood and, as was custom with their pride, they were kicked out. Not for good, but just for them to learn how to survive on their own. They could come back at any time, but Aya had the feeling that once they got out, they'd stay out. His sister was smart enough to keep them both fed and safe, so why not? They could find a new pack, make some new friends...it would be great!
They had brought a few things from their pride with them, tokens of love from their parents in the form of bones and teeth from various kills. They were lucky and Aya felt like he could do anything with his special little necklace of lion teeth around his neck. Unfortunately they were a bit loud when they banged together, so while they went hunting he had to take them off.
Aya bowed his head and pawed off the necklace carefully before laying it gingerly beneath the tree they decided to call home for the night. They were going down to the river that was a few minutes walk for a drink and possibly a snack, so they had to be stealthy. He stared fondly at his little trinket before shaking himself. He lifted his large form to his feet and glanced at his sister, an eager look on his face.
"C'mon, Mika. I'm so thirsty!," he moaned, licking his muzzle to show off just how thirsty he was. "I gotta get a driiiiink."

This is the life~ A soft yawn escaped Mika's lips as she relaxed under the shade of the tree. Honestly, she was glad they left their pride. Things were starting to get too stuffy anyways...being out in the world, away from the structure of a pride, Mika could really sink her claws into things, you know? She didn't need higher ups to boss her around. Nope~ it's just her and Aya now, which works out perfectly. Besides, if anything dicey came up, Aya could take of it. Well, he could look intimidating anyways. That'll scare away any animal that had half a brain.
Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted Aya messing around with his necklace. She glanced at her own trinkets, an ankle bracket made of stones and teeth and a few sinister leg accessories. She wasn't much into necklaces since they caught on branches. Then Mika will be choking to death. No thank you~
She barked at Aya, "Alright! Don't get your tail in a knot!" Mika took her time to stretch her limbs before walking past Aya towards the river. She pawed her jewelry off and stowed it under a large root. A few good ruffles from her paw displaced the dirt around the root so her paw prints weren't left behind. She admired her work before continuing on, not bothering to make sure Aya was following.

Mika's ears twitched as she heard Aya's massive form coming up behind her. Seriously, he couldn't be sneaky even if he tried. His declaration of his hunger irritated her enough to snap, "Eat what you want! Just don't take forever." She glared at him to drive home the point. Leaving the lovely shade pushed her tolerances level to an all time low. However, she really needed to work on that temper issue. No need making Aya cry all over the place. It'll take forever to settle him down.
A couple deep breathes calmed her voice to a low strain, "We'll go where ever we damn well please. That's where!" She nipped at the air in a triumphant gesture. They'll take this opportunity to re-fuel and then high tail it to a different place. Maybe a jungle? Mika smirked at the idea. Yeah, she could be a jungle queen or something.
She walked down to the river edge and dipped her head in for a drink. After refreshing, she looked over at Aya and spoke, "Go eat or whatever. If you spot anything large, bring it back so we both can dine." With Aya busy hunting, Mika will take the opportunity to relax by the river. She tucked her legs under neither her and flopped down.

Aya flinched slightly as MIka yelled at him. She always yelled at him, so really, he should be used to it. This time, though, mom and dad weren't around to snap at her and make her apologize. Oh well...it was best to just keep going along with it. It really couldn't be classified as yelling, he thought to himself as he trotted closer to the water. It was just raising her voice.
He took a long drink before shaking himself, happy to be done walking for the day. "All right, Mika," he said cheerfully as he headed into the stream. There was a bit of a dam a few paces down and he bet he could catch some fish there. He plopped himself down to watch for a while, tilting his head as he peered into the cool, still water. Oh yes, there were lots of fish!
Plunging his head in, he returned to the surface with a nice big fish. He proudly brought it to the shore and scarfed it down quickly. Oh, that was nice. He chomped the bones into dust and licked his paws before going back for another. And another. And another! He was a big wild dog, after all. He needed his food!
Finally he had his fill and caught a few for his sister. He laid them out on the shore after making sure they were dead before carrying all three back to her. "Here you go," he said as he presented the fish at her feet. "I can get more if that's not enough. There's a whole bunch over there!"

Mika attempted to attack the intruders...and in attempting, she just spat after Aya, yelling slurs. Nothing on earth would get her to actually throw herself in danger. That wasn't the lady way--regardless if Mika was actually a lady or not in her mannerisms. "Gett'm, Aya!" She shouted. Oh, he'll just have to barrel through one of them and they were done for. Though...her jaw dropped and left eyebrow twitched as she watched the thieves getting away. She howled in rage! Her claws kicking up dirt as she threw a tantrum. How dare they take their stuff! Steam seemed to seep out of her nose she was so upset. Teeth bared, she barked into the night. "You better not come back or else I'll personally rip you to shreds!" She spat onto the ground for good measure. Her tail spiked up in agitation while she addressed Aya, "Those beetle dung, snakes are done for. LETS GO!" Without looking at Aya, she set off, not really in a direction in particular. Mika just wanted to get away from the area. "Forget about your trinkets. We have more important things to take care of." Those were the last words Mika uttered before the rage clamped her jaws tight. Now to find something to chomp her teeth into.
