 Outcry's wondering had come to an unexpected halt. A ripe patch of delicious berries had left her stationed here for the past few weeks. They really were her favorite but she didn't seem to locate them often. So she made up her mind. The doe would spread this treat where ever she went so that if she ever returned, there would be plenty for her. But it seemed things weren't going too well. The muddy earth was easy enough to dig through. The white fur at her hooves soon turned a muddy brown as she dug a deep enough hole. The she would place the berries in to it and cover it up. Simple, but how long was it supposed to take? She periodically checked on the berries. Uncovering them, adding more, reburying them, and over watering them. Within a few days she had a rotting heap and couldn't understand why. Maybe it took someone with a passion for growing things to be able to do it. With an unwavering glare at the rotting pile and a swish of her tail, Outcry made her way to the berry bushes to mull over this problem.

Thaw was out on a walk, through some part of the swamp he visited on occasion. Normally, it was home to nothing but moths and songbirds. Today, he saw a white doe. Her head was lowered, as if there was something on the ground that was that was very interesting.
When the buck moved closer, he realized she was digging a hole. When Thaw was close enough to see what she was staring at a hole and a pile of...rotten stuff.
"What happened here?"
He looked at the torn ground, to the doe's mud-stained hooves, to her face, back down to the rotting slush in the hole.

Outcry jumped, disturbing her rotted pile. "Oh, it's..." She eyed the buck before looking back at her hole in the ground. "It's supposed to be a berry bush." Her muddy hooves kicked at the pile, her lips curling into a slight frown. "Can't you see that?" Her poor attempt at the gardening project was obvious, even to an amateur.

Thaw raised an eyebrow. He eyed the overturned earth with skepticism. He wasn't exactly sure what to say, only that it would be rude to shoot the poor doe's earnest efforts down.
"I'm not quite sure what I see, but if there are seeds in there, it should grow with enough care, regardless."

"This isn't enough care?" She started to doubt herself as she played with the muddy puddle. "I guess I'm just not meant for this type of thing." The doe sighed, turning her gaze back on the buck. "I'm Outcry..." Her voice trailed off a bit. "You seem to know what you're doing, tell me...." The pale doe looked back over the pile. "How does one plant seeds?" Minsuil (Sorry this took so long, I could have sworn I posted in here already.)

"My name is Thaw and I am not sure if I would call this..." he looked around again at the savaged ground, "care. But it is no matter, one must start somewhere."
Thaw walked towards a bush and picked some of the berries, the same kind that Outcry had picked up. He placed them gently on the ground and split it in half with his teeth, spitting the seed onto the ground. He motioned to the doe to come over and pointed to the seed.
"Do you see this? This is a seed. This is what must be planted. If you just bury the fruit and all, chances are some hungry animal will come dig it up and you will be without anything."ashes to the wind Wow, this completely slipped my mind, I'm really sorry about that. OTL
