Gandama yawned as she stretched and shook off the night of sleep. She sniffed and looked around blearily, eyes only half lidded, not quite awake. She hummed to herself though, stretching again just because it felt nice.

She was not, perhaps, the youngest hyena out there, but she knew she was not the oldest. Her bones were only beginning to feel heavy, and her muscles were still tense and strong. She was in the prime of life.

The only problem was she wasn't using it for anything.

Yawning again, she padded from her temporary shelter and sniffed at the air, looking for a food source. She hadn't eaten in a little while and was tired of hoping she might come across a carcass or another creature's kill. She would just have to hunt something down and kill it herself.

She caught the scent in the air, of other hyena nearby. Uh oh.

Kepuzi carried a hare in his mouth, the meal swinging from his jaws. It wasn't one of his duties as a servant of the Nguvu'Utawala to hunt, but he figured it was alright to feed himself. There weren't many pups to take care of, anyway. He had been strolling around the outer edges of the pride when he came upon his dinner, and he was on his way back to the inner part of the pride, when he heard a yawn.

His head snapped around, looking for the source and accidentally hitting himself in the eye with the hare's foot. His brows furrowed with worry. He lifted his head to the air to try and catch its scent, but all he could smell was his dinner. Oops, better put down the hare first. He set the critter at his feet and tried again. Well, whatever it was, the breeze was carrying his smell over to it. Uh oh.

Gandama watched the stranger as he approached, through her yawn, not sure if he saw her or not. When he snapped his head around and looked at her she couldn't help but smile a little bit, though she was a bit of a grump sometimes. She was still a normal hyena, and she imagined anyone would be hard pressed not to laugh when they saw a dead rabbit kick someone in the face.

"I'm over here," she called, when it seemed like he could not see her. She moved closer to him, fluffy tail moving slowly behind her. She kept her stance relaxed, not wanting to show him any aggression, though she was sure she could take him if they got in a fight.

She wasn't past her prime as a hunter or a fighter, after all.

"It looks like that meal of yours is giving you more trouble post-death than it might have while alive," she said leisurely, looking at the hare and hearing her stomach growl distantly.

Kepuzi looked around until he found 'here.' From 'here' a female hyena approached. A cute green one, too, but not one of his pack. Well she seemed nice. Was she thinking of joining? It wasn't really his place to ask.

He sat down and his ears turned back against his head submissively. He grinned sheepishly, and heard her stomach growl. He nudged the hare closer to her.

"Would you like to share it?"

It wasn't so much that he was trying to butter her up, or anything. It was just his learned nature to put females first, even though she wasn't a part of his pack. He tilted his head and with an easy smile, said "It did get markedly more difficult, but a full stomach is worth it."

"There's not much there to share," she said with a glance at his face to see if he was trying to trick her. She had been around for a while, in the rogue lands, and most other hyena she met were not to be trusted. It was, without too much irony, dog eat dog out here and no one shared their food without a good reason to.

So she had to wonder what his angle was. What he would get to his benefit for sharing with her.

"Anyway, for all the trouble it's given you, I would feel bad, taking it from you. I'm sure I can find something out here." She glanced around. She had hurt her paw a bit the last time she'd hunted, in a silly and mostly embarrassing way in her eyes. She just had not seen the rock until her foot was on top of it, and it had gotten right between the pads. It had been a nasty shock of pain, but nothing she couldn't handle.

She shrugged her lithe shoulders, swishing her fluffy tail behind her.
