Vanna sighed and tried stretching. He needed to catch something to eat today. However his cold was still lingering. It was one of the drawbacks of winter. If he did get sick it almost lasted forever. Besides, Abel’s father had to be gone by now right so if the white male came by there wouldn’t be explosions galore?

He let out another cough and stood up rubbing the bridge of his nose. “Note to self look for herbs that help with headaches. Today promises to have a killer headache.” Only problem was the herbs where a bit farther away than he wanted to travel today.

Well he wasn’t one to just sit there and waste the day away even if he wasn’t feeling the best. After all he had spent all day yesterday pretty much doing that. He briefly wondered if he would run into Abel again today. Well maybe the youth would be in a better mood considering his father had visited? Well it might be fun to tease him today.

Abel wasn't seeking Vanna, he told himself. He wasn't even going to look around and make sure he wasn't being followed. Nope. Not today. Today was a fishing day, not anything else.

He approached the rather deep water suspiciously. He actually couldn't swim, but he wanted fish and was actually stupid enough to risk falling into the water. He wouldn't, he promised himself. It'd be stupid to do such a thing, and he wasn't stupid.

He approached it, settling onto his haunches and glaring at the water, willing fish to come closer.

Hmm although he wouldn’t actively seek out Abel the universe did like throwing them together for some amusing reason he was sure he wouldn’t exactly understand or maybe a more accurate description was he probably didn’t want to know.

Perhaps he should go after some berries. They where good snack food and kept for a while at least. Only problem was they where near the river and guarded by huge spiders. He didn’t have a problem with spiders but their bites where never fun to deal with.

So berries it was. He would just have to keep his eyes out for a rather large stick, maybe he would be luck and one of the branches would still have some leaves on it so he could use it to sweep the cobwebs away.

Now, Abel wasn't getting any fish. He could see the damn things a little further out, too! Usually, he'd give up, but today he felt feisty. He wanted that god damn fish. He was going to get it, water be damned.

He considered crawling into the water itself, deciding against it. Instead, he leapt onto a tree that had a rather nice branch dipping over the water, right where the fish was... Silently, he leapt onto the tree, making a way towards the branch.

Vanna finally found a good pine tree branch that had broken off in a recent storm and still had a good chunk of its needles which would be perfect to combat the nasty spiders and he was well on his way to his favorite berry patch.

However when he got there he noticed Abel was climbing on some branch towards the river. Well he was correct in that the universe was going to throw the two together however WHAT the HELL was Abel doing? Vanna opened his mouth to say something but then what if he startled Abel and the other fell into the river, that water was near freezing.

His body tensed as he reached the water from the branch, paw extending to try and claw the fish out of the water. He missed, struggling to catch just one fish. He was made for hunting! Still, he wanted to prove himself wrong, he could catch a decent meal!

The branch cracked suddenly, and Abel went flying into the water. He couldn't swim, panick filling his mouth as water graced his lungs, sliding into the depths of he water. He flailed and pawed, gasping and choking. Was this how he was going to die?

Vanna watched in slow motion as Abel tried to catch a fish, at first it was a bit comical but his attention was suddenly drawn to the branch who was struggling to support Abel’s weight. Before he could open his mouth to warn Abel about the branch it snapped off and he fell into the water.

It was obvious after a few seconds that Abel was panicked and didn’t know how to swim if his actions where anything to go by. It would be hard to move in that freezing water even if you where a good swimmer and not completely panicking. At this rate the younger male would drown.

Vanna hesitated only a second more as he watched Abel sink underwater. If he tried to tackle that water, if he even stepped into that water he knew he would be seriously sick. However about the same time he came to that realization he was about to put himself through that again he was under the water. Luckily he spotted Abel pretty quickly. He managed to get them both to the surface and took a deep breath before the river plummeted them down into its depths again. Vanna could feel his fur and skin start to burn due to how cold the water was. He needed to get them out of there fast.

After a few harrowing seconds he managed to break free of the current and drag them both to the river bank. His head was practically throbbing with every tense heart beat in nauseating pain and his hold body ached. He probably had a fever too if his eyesight was anything to go by. “You…. You…. Idiot!” He managed to get out through heavy coughing. “What the… Hell… where you thinking?!!!”

Abel hadn't expected to suddenly be grabbed. As he was rescued the male could only go limp, shocked that not only was he so close to death, but someone was rescuing him. As they flopped onto shore he choked on water, coughing it out with strangled breaths. He spent a few minutes doing so, ignoring that familar voice yelling at him. When he turned, he froze.

Mother of deities, why?!

He almost snarled at Vanna, though for once his manners stopped him. Even he knew better than to snarl at his savior. Choosing instead to glare to the side, his ears whipped back as he remembered what Vanna asked.

”I wanted fish?”

“You… wanted fish” Vanna asked trying to keep his temper under control. He had noticed Abel had indeed been trying to fish but why was he doing something so stupid if he couldn’t swim. Vanna didn’t voice this outloud because he didn’t want to hear any more excuses. He should have just called out in the first place and maybe avoided this whole mess.

“So you’re telling me I risked my li-life for fish?”

Vanna took a long blink as he tried to will the headache away again, this was just… peachy. “Well obviously you’re fine now” he stated before getting into a rather nasty coughing fit. He needed to sleep or at least get to help. Maybe Yoru and Zuriel where still in the area. He could play on Yoru’s hero nature for a while. However life had other plans because when he got up he started sway. Ugh he hated being dizzy.

Hey! Fish as an important part of your diet! Right? Okay, maybe not, but Abel wished to defend himself. He bit his bottom lip in thought, about to snap back when the male wobbled.

The s**t? What was he supposed to do, huh? He watched Vanna, eyebrow raising rather high. What was he supposed to do, try and catch the male? He quietly tried to, without raising suspicion, move closer so if the male did fall he could catch Vana.

”What the hell is wrong with you?”

Vanna stopped and slowly turned back to look at the male. Obviously just storming off wasn’t going to work and Abel had notice he wasn’t acting normal, well that was obvious considering the world was spinning.

“I’m… I have a low immune system. I’m si-” Vanna struggled to say before his body decided that it had gone through enough abuse and wasn’t going to listen to any more of Vanna’s commands and pretty much collapsed. At least Vanna was still slightly aware even though his eyes no longer wanted to work. Oh this was bad, he was hoping he could have gone just a bit longer.

”I should leave you here for a damn mountain lion.” Abel hissed, though even he wasn't that low. Vanna had saved his life. He might as well return the favor. Lowering himself under Vanna, he lifted them both, grumbling as he padded for his den.

Stupid ******** fish and perverts.

Vanna wasn’t quite unconscious but way too tired to really muster up a glare towards Abel. He had to have the worst luck ever; however he was a bit surprised that the younger male had caught him. Then again the younger male wasn’t too bad of a person, he just often was harsh and it was hard to look past his language. However dropping him on the ground wasn’t really necessary. Then again not too surprising, Vanna was around Abel’s size and wasn’t weak to say the least, he was probably very heavy.
He tried to keep mostly conscious, just in case Abel stopped being helpful he needed to get up again and get to at least someone to help. He also wasn’t looking forward to the dreams that always came when he ended up in these sick states.
“Probably should” he managed to finally say when Abel mentioned talking about leaving him to mountain lions. It did kind of sort of sound appealing considering how awful he felt but he didn’t want to make Mai sad even if he really wouldn’t know about it as a ghost or whatever happened after a modifox died. Then Abel was surprising him again as he felt himself leaving the ground again. Well wasn’t this the day for surprises.

”You could lose a few pounds, you know.”

Abel grunted as he carried the male, rolling his eyes here and there. Ugh. What would his father think, seeing this? Hell, what was he even doing? Hmpf. The b*****d had tried to help him, or rather he did. Abel was returning the favor, nothing more. Vanna still was not going to be treated like a pretty princess....

Dropping the male, though gently despite Abel's "hatred" for the other, he padded towards the back of the cave, returning with a blanket in his mouth. He dropped it on Vanna, looking away quickly. It was clear he caught on to the other being sick, the male seemed to actually care. Whether or not he would admit it.

Vanna really wanted to roll his eyes and say something rather witty at the moment; however he needed to concentrate on staying at least partially awake. Thus Abel would be spared for the moment. He hated the dreams that came when ever he was sick and he definitely didn’t want to explain to Abel, who would most likely ask, what in the hell he was dreaming about, besides Vanna had already given the boy enough clues.

He watched Abel walk back to his den and return with a blanket. It was kind of nice to see the other being kind to him at least for the moment. Then again Vanna had always said Abel was pretty okay. Actually didn’t that lead to their first fight? He would ponder it at a later date when his head wasn’t throbbing. “Thank you” he practically whispered. After all Abel didn’t have to help.
