Jangled Nerves
Jangled nerves may have been a very flighty doe, but that didn't mean that she lived her life in fear. Her home territory was pretty well groomed, clear of dangerous shapes and ominous shadows. All the rocks and detritus on the ground were arranged into pleasing, rounded shapes - a safe refuge in a frightening world, until other creatures messed it up. Jangle herself lay near a shallow stream, idly watching the water flow by, perfectly at peace.

Misfortune
Misfortune, being a largely inconsiderate buck, stomped right into the middle of the carefully arranged clearing, clearly looking for something as he heedlessly trampled shrubs and kicked rocks around. "Risk! Risk! Where have you gotten to?"

Jangled Nerves
Startled by the approaching noise and aghast at this buck's carelessness, Jangle leapt to her feet and, well, shrieked inarticulately.

Misfortune
Misfortune was startled himself and spun around to face the doe. "Apologies, madam! But have you seen a caiman around here, by any chance!"

Jangled Nerves
In a heartbeat, Jangle's face went from frightened to mortified. "I should hope NOT," she cried. Just to be safe, she backed away from the stream.

Misfortune
"Thanks anyway!" Misfortune hurried over to the stream, making a muddy mess of it while he searched up and down for the caiman. "Riiiisk! I swear to the motherfather if you don't come out right now, I'm just going to leave you here!"

Jangled Nerves
Perceived threat avoided for the moment, Jangle realized that this buck was 1) intruding on her space and 2) wrecking up the joint which 3) was making her QUITE UNCOMFORTABLE. Swelling indignantly, Jangle yelled at the buck, "COULD YOU PLEASE SEARCH FOR THIS BEAST LESS DESTRUCTIVELY."

Misfortune
Misfortune ignored her and kept searching, examining the plants around the stream bank now. "Riiiiisk, I know you're here somewheeeeere...ah!" Spotting a narrow, scaly black tail under some reeds, Misfortune crept slowly up to it, then leaned forward and bit it. Its owner was clearly not amused, and the reeds thrashed around wildly.

Jangled Nerves
Jangle had sat stock still for a time, waiting for a response. When it became quite obvious he did not intend to make one, she stomped upstream after him and was about to scold him again when the reeds he had just lunged at rattled frightfully. She yelped and leapt backwards, slipping and landing in the stream. While still laying down, she awkwardly scooted backwards, shrieking "KILL IT KILL IT KEEP IT AWAY FROM ME KILL IT!"

Misfortune
Misfortune pulled the flailing caiman out by his tail, then dropped him unceremoniously on the bank and laughed at the doe. "You're overreacting quite a bit, lass! He's a real sweetie, I promise. He won't hurt you at all!" Risk, for his part, flopped around on the bank like a fish out of water.

Jangled Nerves
Struggling to stand, Jangle moved to the far bank from the caiman and the obviously disturbed buck. Thinking to save this deluded soul, she explained, "I don't know what you think that is, mister, but it sure ain't sweet. Caimans are dangerous. You'll wanna back away from that thing quick-like."

Misfortune
He frowned at her, then laughed again. "You sound like my mother! Nah, Risk would never hurt me. He's my constant companion and best friend!" Risk dragged himself to a sunny patch and glazed over.
