Description: A young novelist who came to town in search of inspiration for his first book, Alex Reilly is a quiet person who often finds himself lost in his imaginary world. He often daydreams and isn't quite fond of socializing with his friends back home. Unlike most kids who indulge themselves in sports, Alex much prefers to engage with a pen and paper, drawing or writing whatever comes to his mind. When he was younger, he was raised in a very broken family and often hid all his sadness and hatred within himself, thus making everyone not aware of his situation at home. Instead, he lets his art do the talking.

Alex had just gotten off a bus as he stared at an old, beat-up welcome sign. The name of the village had its paint peeled off and coated with rust. The young novelist sighed and began his long walk towards the town just a couple of miles from the bus stop. The road is bumpy and rocky, filled with pot holes and dust, not to mention the setting sun isn't making it any easier for Alex. Eventually, the young man reached town. The sky shifted from a reddish-orange to a hazy gray, with the moon lighting up the dirty path ahead of the novelist.
The town appeared run-down, with buildings and establishments covered with webs and broken glass. People avoided each other and hid within their homes, making it hard for Alex to ask around. Before he could decide what to do next, his stomach growled. Luckily, an eatery was just across the road from where he was. As he entered, everyone inside stared at him for a moment, then looked away. The novelist sat on a vacant seat in front of the long table. A young, pale-skinned waitress stood by and stared at him for a long time before speaking in monotone. "Want anything?"
"Oh, uh.. a-a burger will do, a-and a soda," Alex stuttered as he looked out the window. Almost instantly, a silhouette of a little girl appeared outside, glaring at him, as if with a killing intent. The moment the young man blinked, the girl disappeared. I must be really hungry..
"Here," the young waitress placed his food and drink in front of Alex and just stood there, watching the novelist eat. This caused him to be uneasy.
As soon as he had his fill, Alex stepped out and looked at the sidewalk where he saw the little girl. A second later, he shook his head and looked at his wallet. Ugh.. need a cheap place to stay then.. The limited amount of bills and coins made him sigh once more. To make things worse, the rain began to pour down hard. Using his backpack, he covered his head. A moment later, the waitress that served him stepped out of the dinner and opened a black umbrella. Alex faced her and asked, "D-Do you know a place I c-can stay in?"
The pale girl said nothing then began walking away.
Guess not.
The waitress then stopped on a corner and faced Alex as if she's waiting for him to follow. It took the novelist a while to get this and began running towards her. The two began walking together for a while. Alex couldn't find a decent topic to talk about to break the ice, heck he's not confident when it comes to talking to anyone, much less females. After travelling for a couple of blocks, the two reached an old apartment building. The establishment had broken windows, cracked walls and web-filled halls. Alex faced the pale girl and asked, "H-Here?"
The waitress said nothing and entered.
"W-Wait up!" Alex entered the apartment and noticed the girl was gone. He now finds himself in a run-down building to spend his first night in town.

All You Need Is Love

❝Jade hummed quietly as she placed two plants on the brick garden bed, carefully wedged between to smooth down rocks. Up to her knees in fresh turned soil, she watered the small wilting plants she'd found nearly a week ago, still starved for attention; she hearty gave them more to drink from her small rusted water pail. The water was a tad murky and not well filtered, but in this town...it would have to do.
She sighed to herself.
Normally this time of evening would bring with it a feeling of whimsical magic. Twilight had a way of doing that to her. The time between dawn and sunrise or between sunset and dusk, during which sunlight scattering in the upper atmosphere illuminates the lower atmosphere, and the surface of the earth is neither completely lit nor completely dark. The perfect time for magic.
But today was not the same, she did not feel the tickle of magic down her spine as she usually did when twilight drew near. No, instead, she felt... anxious.
Jade sighed again.
This was becoming troublesome to her aura. Searching for something to lift her spirits, Jade grabs the extra large bottle of double bubble extra bubble bubbles and her star shaped wand from the empty concrete steps. Taking a deep cleansing breath, she pushed all of the negative feeling she was experiencing into the bubble. She smiled as the bubble took form of the star shape before settling into a perfectly round bubble. Filling the summer night breeze with the scent of knock off detergent and lemon soap.
Feeling much lighter, Jade looked around the small but cozy garden on top of her apartment's roof top. Most of the plants were in bad shape due to the drought, but what little water she could surge together for them, she did.
Dusting off her blue jeans, Jade stood up from her place along the roof top and looked out onto the still town, life hadn't always been like this. Harsh. Cold. Lifeless. She'd hope to one day find such a place in those little fairytale books where the good always prevailed over evil and no one went hungry or become hurt because the people where always so nice and helpful to each other.
Yeah.
That was the kind of fairytale she'd choose to live in.
Scooping up her supplies, Jade made her way down the roof top staircase heading towards her apartment. It wasn't a long way from the rooftop but as she descended she hard a strange noise......❝ |

The poorly lit lobby showed signs of age, from torn furniture to the peeling wallpapers. Not a single sign of life was found, not even a bug. Alex circled the empty room and dropped his bag on top of a dusty, old sofa nearby. As he stood in the center of the room, his mind took him elsewhere, to a memory he disliked remembering. The world had no colors, just shades of gray. In front of the young man, was a wooden staircase. He stood at the bottom and allowed his eyes to slowly drift upward. As his vision climbs, a pair of feet came to view. A second later, the image fell down and crashed into the marble floor. On his feet crept the thick, warm, crimson liquid that oozed out of the opening of the victim's skull.
Alex blinked. He found himself staring at a similar staircase just beside the front desk. The novelist shook his head before getting his bag and began walking out the door. No one lives here.
Before Alex could open the front door, a voice was heard from behind. "It's quite dangerous for you to be outside at this hour and weather."
The young man shivered and slowly turned his head. Just a few feet from where he stood was a short, senile man wearing a dirty, torn suit. Whatever remains of his white hair popped out of his top hat. The man spoke once more. "Are you interested in staying here?"
Alex cleared his throat. "I-I am."
"Excellent timing indeed. We have a vacancy. Come, I need you to sign a few things," the old man said as he limped his way towards the front desk. There, he handed Alex a pen and paper. After the paper work was done, the senile man handed the novelist his room key attached to a chain with a wooden plate.
Room 213?
"The stairs are to your right. Do call if ever you need further assistance."
Alex held his keys tight and left without a word. He was just glad to be away from that man. Slowly, he made his way up.

Alex made his way inside his quarters without bothering to close the door. The room was messy, the mattress was torn, the pillow was dirty, the sofa had a spring sticking out, the curtain had holes in it and the floor creeks. This.. is home.. I guess.. The young man lazily dropped his backpack on the side of the bed and slumped on top of the dusty bed sheets. He began to cough and regretted the decision. He mindlessly stared at the cracked ceiling as a random drop of water fell on his forehead. What am I doing here?
Once again, the author drifted into his imaginary world. He found himself locked inside an empty room. The walls are covered in hand prints and smudges which looked like blood. Alex ran his fingers along the room and eventually found a window. It was dark outside, and the only thing visible was the moonlight outlining the trees from afar. As the young man motioned closer to peek through, a pale girl with long hair slammed her own face onto the glass.
With that, Alex woke up.

❝Jade blinked curiously. She knew she heard a door opening from below, but when she called out no one had replied back. Big surprise there, the creepy sounds never show their face until their about to eat their victim. She thought, half halfheartedly joking as she debated whether or not to investigate the strange noises from below.
Slipping silently further down the staircase, she came to the same square metallic sign marking the level, only this one had a rusted red number "2". Since this was her floor, it was quite silly for her to stand outside the door forever, eventually she would have to go inside to get into her apartment.
She decided it was now or never. Juggling the water pail and bubble wand in hand, Jade made her way clumsily down the hall, but soon tripped over the uneven carpeted floor, right in front of an open room door. Not again. ❝ |

❝Jade tried to see where she had fallen, but was consumed by darkness. "Oh no, I'm blind!", she shouted as she stood up clumsily from off the floor. With no sight, she flailed around the hall waving her hands in a panicked motion, completely oblivious to the face that she was not blind, but the water pile she had used to water her plants, had someone how become wrapped around her head, concealing her vision.Her hair created a typhoon of colors as she spun around and around, trying to search out for some source of light.
Now to you or me, this may seem a bit dramatic,
but to Jade this was a natural reaction to loosing her sight.❝ |
