Red-stained Blossom was flummoxed. Befuzzled. Flabbergast. Bewildered. Confused. Baffled. She looked at the three pups. She looked at her little Sunshine. Back to the pups. Back to Sunshine. Back to the pups. Well. Back to one pup. For the other two, it was perhaps more accurate to say 'back through'. For they were distinctly transparent.

"Well," back at her little Sunshine, "I obviously hadn't kept a good enough eye on you, I didn't even realise you were preggers. But what I really want to know is...how in the Swamp did you get knocked up by a see-through dog?!" Back at the pups, staring a little accusatorily at that one dog that was rather obviously different from the others, a tall (even as a puppy), gangly long-limbed crimson thing that was entirely see-through. The splitting image of its father, no doubt. The puppy whimpered and cringed under her eye, and she relented, swinging her gaze away to...the other see-through pup. This one was the splitting image of Kisses, the dubiously proud grandfather, who was currently at attention next to his daughter, looking rather solemn and dutiful.

That was what tipped Rouge over, the obvious resemblance to her darling Kisses. "Oh, c'mere you," she bounded over to the little litter, nuzzling her way around the dogs, "see-through or not you're still as cute as berries, aren't you, you little snuggle-wuggles? Yes you are - yes you are!" She had no clue what to do with see-through doggies. She had no clue if see-through doggies were anything like ordinary sand doggies. She had no clue if being see-through would impact the doggies in a later stage of life. She still had no clue how Sunshine had gotten herself pregnant by way of see-through doggie. She had no clue how that was even possible. She would probably never ever have any clue about that. Oi. But she knew all about doggies otherwise, and she knew all doggies were cute and that was all that mattered, largely. "And like any other doggie," she continued her thoughts aloud, having snugged her fill, "I guess I'll have to find you good homes!" Normally she would find an Acha friend that matched well, but she wasn't sure see-through matched any of them. She would just have to, she mused as she herded the troops along, see who would appear on a romp through the Swamp.

Tail wagging cheerfully at the attention from Red-stained blossom, the smaller of the two transparent pups gave a small yap, tumbling after the rest of his family as they were herded through the swamp. Everything was so...large. And there were so many intriguing smells--he had a tough time not being distracted. There was the rich, all-encompassing smell of damp earth, and somewhat-decayed vegegation, and...something else. Similar to the hoofed one, but...different. Cocking his head slightly, almost tripping over his paws as he strained to see what it was, he hesitated no more than a split second before tearing off through the underbrush, his semi-transparent body fading swiftly from view.

Distant Memory was enjoying the peculiarly warm morning, sunning himself quietly. The sky was clear, without a single cloud to mar the bright blue from one's sight, and everything around him was hushed, as if they too, were reluctant to spoil the perfection of it. Around him, he could hear the low whispers that hinted at events long past, of those long-forgotten. It was a soothing cadence of quiet tones, following the natural ebb and flow of background noise that even a quiet day couldn't escape in the swamp.

It was this pensive, relaxed frame of mind that was abruptly interrupted, first by a chaotic crashing, moving swiftly in his direction--and then almost immediately by a small, furry shape (sand-colored, although it was hard to tell since he could see right through it) that catapaulted itself through the air as it emerged from beneath the frond of some unidentified bit of greenery--barely preventing itself from crashing into one of Distant Memory's (admittedly) rather large hooves.

Having raised his head sharply when he'd first realized that the crashing was most definitely moving in his direction, Distant Memory had relaxed when he saw the size of it, although the fact that he could see right through the small...puppy, if he wasn't mistaken, was interesting indeed.

He spoke, his deeply melodic voice surprisingly soft--he rarely spoke any louder than was absolutely necessary. "Now where did you come from--you hardly look old enough to be running around on your own..."

He stopped, lowering his head until his nose was almost touching that of the sand-dog, and inhaled slowly.

The puppy's eyes widened when he first caught sight of the kimeti--he was large, and far more sturdy looking than the hoofed thing that he'd left behind with his family. But the smell...while unfamiliar, was somehow inviting--something that invited him to bury his face in its pelt, to chew on until it was thoroughly soaked in his puppy-saliva...

And then it spoke. He could barely prevent himself from wriggling in sheer pleasure. When it stopped speaking, he raised his head, bumping his own cold, wet nose against the other's, his tongue darting out to lick the kimeti squarely on the tip of his nose. When his new friend lifted his head out of reach with an indignant-sounding sneeze, the puppy hopped a couple of inches in the air, barking once, sharply, and wagging his tail.

"See-through? See-through!!" she cried, voice shrill with real panic, as she tore through the foliage, the other two pups following obediently, in the wake of the little dog's flight, "See-through, where did you g-"

She stopped mid-word as she burst through the brush, coming all at once upon the scene of the pup and the...Kimeti. He was a very handsome buck, truth be told, one she would have oohed over under different circumstances. But right now all she could think was: here was a Kimeti, and there was her little Sand pup. Never before had one of her precious babies gone to live with a Kimeti. She didn't quite trust that her Swamp cousins could take just the right care of her delicate desert doggies. But here was a Kimeti, and there was her little Sand pup...and it was already, wagging tail and all, looking very much like a dog with its...master.
