Scented Fruit wandered, starry eyed, vaguely watching her crane's shadow soar smoothly along the ground. She had seen Hold the Light again recently, and was feeling butterflies as usual. Fruity had swooped in on her as she left his company, so she went for a walk with her companion bird. It had been some time since she had seen her friend, so she wanted to enjoy her company.

Fragrant began to hum softly, thinking of the buck she had left behind. She had told Fruity about him, but the crane's only response had been to blink at her and caw softly at her. Now, Fruity dropped down to wing alongside Fragrant. Startled from her short respite, Fragrant eyed her bird friend.

"Yes, dearest? Is there something you wish to say?" Scented Fruit feigned ignorance to the crane's concern. Fruity swooped in front of the doe and stopped her, turned a head and glared directly into Fragrant's eyes. The doe stopped, rolled her eyes, sighed and sat.

"You're worried about this new buck, aren't you, Fruity." The crane purred softly. "This is...something else. There's just something about him I can't shake. I have fun being with him, and all I do when I leave is think about when I can "run into" him next. Please, I hope you understand..." Fragrant looked at the ground and scuffed a couple of stones around. Fruity narrowed her eyes and watched her doe for another few moments.

The bird winged into the air again. She called out to her friend, circled, and winged off in a new direction. Confused by this behavior, Fragrant once again followed. She called out to Fruity.

"You know, if you really wanted to help me out with this, you'd find me a Legendary." The bird dropped out of the sky like a rock. Fragrant laughed and wheedled her companion. "Yeah, a little clutch of foals...how sweet would that be! Actually..." she paused and reflected for a moment. She straightened again and looked off in the swamp. "Actually, I think I would like that very much. Fruity, would you help me?"

The bird contemplated her companion for a moment. She rested her head and neck along the side of the doe and made a purring call. Fruity turned yet another new direction, nittered at Fragrant, and took flight once again.

Her heart in her throat, Fragrant took off at a trot after her familiar to find a Legendary blessing.

I haven't written anything with the familiar yet, so please please please point it out if I wrote her wrong or too smart or something. I tried reading the front page post and worked as best I could off that.

It looks good to me, Daggy. Not terribly intelligent, but able to communicate on a simple, emotional level.

When he was up all steady, he shook the little bits out of his shaggy fur violently, nearly knocking himself over again in the process. As his balance settled, he stared blankly ahead of him into the waving cattails and marsh grass. It may have been his imagination, or some remnant from his dreams, but...

Nope. There was definitely a rustling of reeds being flown over, and of reeds being parted determinedly close in the wake of the flyer. Realizing that someone was visiting him right after he woke up at - he squinted up at the sky quickly - some time in the early afternoons, good heavens - he scrabbled around as quietly as he could for his drape of mint, shrugging it onto his shoulders and just barely composing himself as the crane landed. What the doe that followed shortly after would see, undoubtedly, was a slightly... lopsided, shall we say, stag, with beard-centric bedhead and looking a little confused as his dreams evaporated like so much fog in the sunlight.

He hoped she didn't mind his appearance terribly. It wasn't that he was vain, really, but he knew that a certain neatness of appearance was expected of the chosen. He didn't want to disappoint anyone by looking, well, like he just woke up.

He said, a little blearily, "Hello, miss. Is there anything I can help you with?"
