Hero alias: 8-BIT
Real name: Vasquez Vasquez
Powers/abilities: 8-BIT Armory - Vasquez has the ability to materialize a life-like, pixelized rendition of various weapons from retro arcade games when he focuses his mind on angry thoughts or thoughts to destroy. When he focuses the "image" of the weapon, it first materializes as a large 8-BIT box (that resembles a rubix cube) before it transforms into the weapon he needs.The amount of damage they deal depends on his own health as well as the size of the weapon. The smaller the weapon, the less effective the damage. Likewise, the larger the weapon, the more effective the damage. If Vasquez is weak, his pixel weapons are also in greater risk of "breaking" in that they'll pop in mid-air, exploding into bits and pieces of RGB-colored cube-like shards.The different types of weapons he can use increase in variety as he grows, for now he can only use a simple Pixel Sword or Dual Pixel Pistols (though the hilts are usually red or bright, cyan blue with black outlines to match his colorscheme). Like every other growing adolescent boy, he wants his guns to be bigger, but that comes with the maturation bundle. The weapons "injure" people like a normal sword or gun would in real life (via gunwound or gash), but the kinds of pain vary with the kinds of weapons. For now at his current stage, the pain received hurts like a normal wound. As he progresses and gains more weapons to use, they should also increase in wound irritation variety (for example, some wounds would feel like they're 'burning' and others would make the victim feel 'numb' for awhile, though this is temporary and depends also on the victim's body type, the stronger their immune system, the more resistant they are to this). The ammo from his guns are unlimited if his stamina/focus allow them. If his focus is broken, or if he's too tired, his weapons explode/pop into tiny pixels.

How did your character get their powers: The Nocturnal Shortcircuit
Vasquez is a reclusive hermit and spends most of his days in arcades playing games his Abuelo remembers from his youth. His Abuelo is the type of person who purposely goes out of his way to make it difficult for you to understand if he's joking or serious. One day, Vasquez came home late because the Bloody Fighter Combat Mortal Street III machine was just recently released at the local arcade and he waited in line for five hours until he could actually try the game out for himself. His Abuelo was livid upon his return and told Vasquez that if he liked playing those "damn games so much why don't you goddam bring one home and marry it." Because Abuelo is Abuelo and Vasquez is Vasquez, the latter did just thatbecause that'll show grandpa! He decided the following night to be a genius and try to take a machine home with him which correlates to stealing, not that Vasquez stole often or anything, he just found the sentiment amusing. It was clear to him that a kid his size probably wouldn't be able to shoplift something larger and heavier than him, but the idea itself was satisfying.
Unknown to the arcade regulars, the 2P ARCADE that the machine was stored in recently converted to a more portable and powerful source of electricity to power its machines. While they made cables and plugs virtually obsolete, they also caused machines to accelerate in higher frequencies and induce instability so that physically moving one arcade machine from one area of the shop to another needed to be done meticulously to avoid electrical short circuiting. In the process of attempting to lift it, Vasquez fell faceforwards into the machine's screen and shattered the glass, rending himself unconscious. The last thought he could recall was the fact that he couldn't think, a paradox in itself. He felt as if his brain had been shocked by a strong surge of lightning and for a split second--he knew he was blind. He was rushed to the nearest hospital by a regular who noticed him passed out; his Abuelo reluctantly paid for the collateral damage. Waking up in a hospital room was the least of Vasquez's concerns. What struck him to be the most odd wasn't that he was, on the physical surface, unscathed, but that he could still see and later discovered that he could create.
Abuelo was furious with his grandson's idiodicy and childish "sentiment" for amusement. Heated and defensive, Vasquez fueled his anger at his grandfather, thinking if only life was a videogame, he'd strike Abuelo down and make him know his place; he wasn't one to enjoy getting yelled at, especially when it was Abuelo's idea for him to bring home the machine and marry it. He focused the mental hatred in his mind in a physical form, and thus, the awakening of his first pixel sword, life-sized and ready to strike. Upon seeing it, he panicked, and the focus was lost, resulting in the popping of his newborn weapon.

Motivation for entering academy: A pilgrimage of truth to see how mundane he is in comparison to the other oddities of society with a slight ulterior motive of still being friends with Kennedy. ((MORI SAID THIS IS OK)) He wants to see how many others there are like him, and if he's super cool in comparison to them (because compared to his heroes he doesn't feel up to par at all). It's a personal and self-fulfilling goal that Vasquez takes very seriously, like everything else.

Vasquez, upon first impressions, is a generally animated boy who would rather "talk it out" than "hug it out." He doesn't like being touched and he'd rather give salutation than a high five. He does enjoy conversation very much, and punctuates his conversation with gesticulations and animating his features, soemtimes being a little too loud but he figures you wouldn't mind so it's perfectly alright. While his parents have called him lazy, he really just enjoys admiring things and taking his time to do so because details are very important. It is, after all, the pixels that make the picture. There's nothing wrong with casual city sightseeing and what efforts people and nature achieved to create what existed as the environment. If anything, Vasquez is grateful that he can still see anything at all. In walking great distances, Vasquez would prefer to slow down to admire the flowers, but if there was any case of emergency or urgency, he'd be one of the first to arrive on-scene, making him responsible and therefore reliable. Naturally because of his dominant, dilatory record, many come to figure that Vasquez simply doesn't care enough about things or can take events seriously. Actually, he takes everything very seriously and often, very literally, and therefore likes to ponder about what he will say or present on-scene before actually arriving. If given a heavy responsibility, he will react in the same way. In this sense, Vasquez has his own mentality that differs from most people who prefer to keep a steady agenda. He, too, has his own agenda on his own accord. Vasquez considers himself a very ordinary boy despite his 8-BIT status and is a strong advocate of "I'm no different than anybody else." He does so to keep his own head level because he understands that people fear what it is they don't understand. It's also because he's self-conscious on a certain degree. He thinks his powers aren't as cool as the legendary founders' or the other heroes'. He'll generally use his powers in secret just to see his 8-BIT weapons to make sure that he really did have powers and he wasn't dreaming. He's never been motivated to actually use his powers to fight crime, and at first, he wasn't entirely sure if he wanted to. This makes him a coward of a sort, if someone was being attacked in public, he definitely wouldn't be the first one (or among them at all) in saving said person. He'd rather save someone in secret where others couldn't see him, and he wouldn't care less if he was given credit for his feat or whatnot. He cherishes the fact that he was able to do something even if people aren't aware of it, unlike many of the heroes society revered. He does take pride for himself and not from any others when he saves someone or helps in any way; he awards himself credit, therefore making it a personal pride. He's kind of a selfish b*****d in that sense but he doesn't have any ill intentions. If asked if he'd ever use his powers for evil, Vasquez would probably tell you that he wasn't creative enough to manipulate himself into doing something dastardly dumb or evil (which to him, are interchangeable). When it comes to people, he likes people who stand out or are different than him in some aspect or another. Perhaps it's from his gaming history because having the same types of characters in a party isn't very tactical for success. It's also because diversity is a concept that easily impresses Vasquez, he's never been a ready conformist and he generally won't aim to please. This is not the same as compromising to him, because aiming to please actually requires a motivation to suck up to a person. It's too much effort. He does like to challenge himself in many aspects such as videogames and school alike and Abuelo fuels this well with his remarks and criticisms.

His poor time management skills attributed to his varying levels of intelligence in different subjects despite his willingness to learn all of them.While he doesn't look like it, Vasquez has always been a vivid learner from a young age, and he doesn't sport a selective intrigue. The history of dirt was endlessly fascinating to him at a young age, and he was truly a token of companionship to his Abuelo whose hobbies were collecting old newspapers and observing rock minerals anywhere and everywhere. Fortunately for Vasquez, the 2P ARCADE is closeby his Abuelo's house, and he spent his favorite days of his childhood there, ergo he doesn't have many friends. He never thought that he needed any; friends were there to make you feel special, and Vasquez liked to think himself very ordinary. His neighbor, Kennedy, is his lifelong best friend and is probably the only specimen of 'girl' he's willing to 'accidentally touch hands' with because she 'accidentally' bumped into him a lot to 'accidentally' hang out. It's not like they wanted to hang out with each or anything, she just happened to be there and he happened to be there too. And they happened to be playing the same arcade machine and that was all there was to it. Vasquez refuses to elaborate more on the case of Kennedy Oliver because it's none of your business. After the incident in which he received his powers, Vasquez began visiting the arcade less and therefore saw less of Kennedy unless he was leaving his apartment and she 'accidentally' happened to be on her porch. It wasn't as if she needed to know anything about his special talent. He didn't like his talent much, he wasn't one for violence, and while admittedly, it was kind of cool to be able to bring the digital armaments to life, he wasn't sure what he could use them for anyways. He was just a kid. The world left all the bad guys to the adults and people twice his height. He wondered if Kennedy felet the same way.
And then she knocked on his door asking to 'accidentally hang out' one day.
Except she was wearing a gas mask.
And she said it was a 'real big secret' and that he 'couldn't tell anyone'. Kennedy had powers just like his but unlike him, she wanted to apply herself and her powers to something only she could do which, in Vasquez's opinion, made Kennedy special. He told her he had powers too, but he wouldn't show her despite her pressing, but she didn't seem to think he was a liar. From his perpsective, his powers weren't anything special or anything, but there was always the shadow of a doubt that maybe, just maybe, he wasn't supposed to be ordinary from the beginning, very much like the protagonists in his video games. Thus, Vasquez decided he would pursue his quest in the Sidekick Academy--and quite frankly, Abuelo didn't care.

_______A TURBO HEART - Vasquez has an affinity for empathy; he's excellent when it comes to seeing situations from another's perspective and he
_______succumbs easily to compromise. His Abuelo says it is probably easy for people to take advantage of him.
_______A GOOD DAY'S START - Waking up is fun for Vasquez because he's always at full energy upon awakening, and it's only gotten better recently.
_______Whether this is a side effect of his electric-induced powers, he isn't entirely sure, but whatever because it promotes his productivity and therefore
_______an overall, daily competence. He's also more optimistic than most because he has good mornings, even on Mondays
_______JOYSTICK FINGERS - Vasquez has good reflexes that are somewhat a result of his gaming experience. While he's quick to act on a physical scale,
_______this doesn't necessarily apply to his social skills. Sometimes he says the wrong things at the wrong time, and he's very accepting of his own faults,
_______saying that "everyone makes mistakes".
_______PEGASUS BOOTS - While he isn't overly athletic in strength, Vasquez can run great distances with ease. He isn't the fastest mile runner, but he can
_______enter in second or third place usually.
_______TECHNICOLOR STAMINA - Abuelo considers this to be a strength but Vasquez doesn't. The boy can stay glued to a TV screen for two entire days on end
_______without sleeping. Commercials are easy for him to memorize and he can surf channels endlessly while keeping up with each show's plot. Abuelo figures that it
_______probably comes with the television screens' similarities to an arcade machine's screen. Whatever, granpa.
_____WEAKNESSES
_______SHUT UP MOM I CAN'T SAVE IN THE MIDDLE OF A CUTSCENE - While Vasquez is awfully empathetic himself, he can't stand it when others
_______cannot see from his perspective (be it in gaming or real life) in desperate situations which makes him come off as an impatient p***k sometimes, but
_______he means well.
_______YOUR PRINCESS IS IN ANOTHER CASTLE - Vasquez is very clear on the fact that girls are from a different planet. He's known this since he was five.
_______He's never specifically had a crush on anyone, but he likes having a girl around as a comrade because it makes him feel cooler. Every video game has a
_______heroine in some respect or another, and while Vasquez doesn't want to be extraordinary, he does want an opposite equal. This also means that he'd prefer
_______the company of a boy who was more emotionally feminine than himself as a close friend than a macho man. Vasquez is the macho man in everything okay.
_______I'M NOT CRYING IT'S DUST GDI - The Vasquez family has never been forwards on expressing their sympathies, despite that they do show them.
_______Likewise, Vasquez is no different from the rest of his family tree in that he's somewhat crude in comforting and sometimes even an inappropriate joker.
_______In comparison to his Abuelo, he isn't that bad when it comes to this, he's still at a Padawan stage but it'll probably worsen with age.
_______ONLY HIPSTERS HATE HIPSTERS - Vasquez embraces the old and isn't all that sure about the new, which is ironic because his home is located in
_______Sewit. He doesn't like it when others tell him they like all the "old stuff" he likes because it sends him the signal that they're trying to copy his swag or
_______trying to humor him. He's generally more ready to befriend people who are different than himself, not those who enjoy noir films or westerns, because those
_______remind him too much of himself or his Abuelo.
_______THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX? YOU'RE A FUNNY ONE. - Creativity is Vasquez's eternal Achilles heel. He refuses to write books and to draw. He claims he's
_______awful at it and that he's frighteningly unoriginal when it comes to ideas. Whether this is a truth or he's simply being adamantly humble is a mystery. He just won't
_______do it.
