User ImageIt was early afternoon, and everyone was beginning to momentarily settle down from the heat. Obayana felt useless, laying around the dens with the nannies and other cubs. Looking around, he saw his siblings as they continued to play, along with several other cubs.

He wanted nothing more than to be able to run freely and explore his new home. Having been in the pride for a bit now, Obayana was beginning to fall in sync with it and it's inner workings. From Ajani and a couple of the nannies, he had learned of the social hierarchy within the pride including the various ranks and paths one could take.

Even though he still wasn't entirely sure about being here, he was paying more attention to how he could use his new life to his advantage. Several of his siblings had expressed interest in becoming stronger. Well, his only choice, really, was to become smarter, manipulative, and conniving.

Unfortunately, the small cub was still lacking them all. Sighing to himself, he decided that he would start banging his head against a nearby wall if he didn't get out soon.

Ny was searching the pride land keeping tabs on his cubs, he was still not used to the fact he was a father. He never would have known he would settle down and have a family after all he spent the good chuck of his life running from place to place stealing, conning and manipulating other to get what he wanted. Perhaps it was fate finding a pride which would accept his talents.

He looked out over the pride lands at the dying energy around him, the heat from the sun was beating against his dark pelt, but he was used to it from his time in the cruel rogue lands. Perhaps it was a good thing he had cubs, he was teaching them useful techniques; they would help them advance in the pride.

Ny walked past the dens filled with cubs as the nannies try there best to handle rambunctious cubs, looking around to see a tan-brownish one that reminded him of himself as a cub. Ny was an outcast, more of an independent and labeled as a trouble maker since birth so he felt for the cub on some level, he smiled at the cub. He could only imagine how boring it was in those dens from what his own cubs told him. He spent many days training his cubs today however his mate, Tabia had them today so he felt a bit lost finally being able to have some alone time although he didn't know what to do with it.

Obayana was watching as his twin siblings bickered with each other over something or other. Their voices sounded further and further away as he gradually tuned them out as they got louder. Eventually, he stood as walked toward the entrance of the den.

Feeling the watchful eyes of a nearby nanny, he simply sat at the mouth and leaned against the rock. Beginning to drift away into the mind numbing state that resulted from being stuck there too long, Obayana did not immediately notice the cheetah that was passing by.

When he finally turned his head to see who was heading his way, he was taken aback by the imposing figure of a important-looking male. The dark orange cub started to take several steps back into the den, when Obayana noticed him smiling.

Curiosity peaked, he stayed where he was and timidly greeted him with a small cubbish voice, "Hi."

Ny was taken aback by the cub, he was a bit timid and shy. Nyeusi covered his lavish treasures took a few gingerly steps toward the cub, heedful to not scare him in the den. Even though if the cub did flee into the den Ny could easily follow without being stopped; but he wouldn't the cub was worth that much trouble to him.

"Hello. Don't be scared, it shows weakness." He said smiling, it felt strange saying that to someone besides his own cubs. "I'm Ny, the head merchant." He didn't say his full name because he was sure the cub wouldn't be able to remember, so he simply went by Ny. The young cub reminded was shy, at least from what Nyeusi could tell; he was the same when he was a cub that is until he started to get into trouble.

Talking to this cub made him miss his own; he was happy to have some alone time but its not the same anymore. This pride has changed him; so far it was for the better and he was happy that his work and his knowledge could be passed to his cubs. It made him feel more complete with his life, unlike when he spent his pre-pridal time wondering aimlessly around the rogue lands.

At the adult's words, Obayana tried to straighten and look tougher. Although, he wasn't sure how successful he was. Nevertheless, he didn't want to be weak, so he tried anyway. Ever since he and his siblings had been snatched away and brought here, he had wanted nothing more than to find a way to see his mother again.

Although, the more that he learned about the workings of the pride, the lower the possibility of him seeing the outside world anytime soon seemed. Despite the fact that they hadn't lived in the pride long, he'd been paying enough attention to notice that some of the higher ranking members were able to leave the pride.

Sometimes, he wonders if he'll ever be strong enough to get out, if only for a moment. Turning his attention back to the cheetah before him, he took in the objects he was draped in and his stature. Obayana wasn't so interested in the trinkets that he saw around, just being something that he currently wasn't.

"My name is Obayana," he said. Curious, he asked him,"What do head merchants do?" Having not had much contact with adults other than his parents, he wasn't sure how to interact with them, especially the ones here.

Nyeusi smiled at the cub, he showed progress like his own cubs, taking what he said to heart.Ny never spent much time around the pride because he was always on a mission with someone or training his cubs and he was just never around to lean the new members. This cub he'd honestly never seen him. Looking up in the den he was sure he never saw any of them, maybe he was caught up in his own little world more then he realized.

"Obayana," he repeated. "Well merchants are like charming tricksters, we have to manipulate people so we get what we want." He smiled, members not from the pride might think it was wrong to tell a cub about this but it was one of the best ranks for a male to engage in, other then a fighter. But Ny felt that if you want to be a merchant you have to know to pretect yourself so it came along with the job that you have to be a good fighter. "Head merchants train others to be able to trick people. Like a teacher." He hoped the cub was understanding he never really 'taught' anyone it was more of a do this and a fail or pass conversation when he was teaching the older cheetahs.

The small cub listened closely to everything that he was being told. Even though he was generally wary of adults, the words of this one piqued his interest. They trick and manipulate others? To his knowledge, tricking and manipulating others wasn't a good thing.

However, he supposed that everything had changed since he and his siblings had been brought here, even his values. Obayana didn't know what to think anymore, and he was feeling conflicted. Lavander eyes narrowed as he thought hard to himself.

Well, he could resist and shut himself off for the rest of however long he was going to be here, or he could adapt to the situation since it didn't look like he would be leaving especially soon. Besides, from what Ny had said, he wouldn't have to fight anyone hopefully, if he could just use his mind.

"How do you learn to trick people?," Obayana asked.

Ny wasn't sure how to answer the cubs question, he never really had to think about tricking people. He just did it even as a cub it was just how he was. And as for his children they seemed to catch on quickly but then again he was the merchant and there mother, Tabia was an ex-entertainer but she has earned her way up to the higher class.

"Well~~ I like to charm others. Girls are easy because you can flirt with them. Like Oh your so pretty, SNATCH. Then run away with there treasures." Ny was using quite ridiculous paw gestures especially when he said snatch and run away. "Males you have to earn there trust then in the dead on night steal it." That's the way Nyeusi liked it there was no fighting...well most of the time.

"Its a very thrilling job, some of my own cubs are going to be a merchant." Now that he had a home and a family he was very pleased, almost over joyed to pass down his knowledge, that way his legacy would live on even after his time is up.

For the most part, Obayana was quite scandalized by what he was being told, but he paid close attention. From what he gathered, merchants stole things too. It didn't sound all that nice, but it was something that he would be good at.

He was calm, calculated, and sneaky, which he thought were great qualities for what Ny was describing. He let out a small giggle at Ny's paw gestures, but mostly sat quietly listening.

About to ask another question, Obayana paused at the sound of the sudden silence of his siblnigs. The very next moment, he heard himself and his siblings being summoned away from the mouth of the den. Hesitant, but not wanting to get into trouble again, he gave Ny one last look of wonder before he was about to go inside.

Smiling, he shouted over his shoulder as he ran inside, "Then I will be a merchant too!"

Nyeusi smiled as the cub left his sight. Pehaps this pride things wasnt as bad as he thought it to be. He laughed to himself before heading back to his own den where he was sure Tabia and his cubs would be. Ny was pleased he had such influence other the young cub. He might have to teach him a thing or teo just like his own children.

He took one last look at the empty mouth of the den and smiled. Ya this pride thing wasnt so bad at all. He turned leaving behind the cub, he was sure they'd meet again i this pride even if it is growing fast and if the cub wanted Ny would take him under his paw.
