"Channel 5, Autumn's News Leader" is one of the leading news broadcasting stations in the country. During the festivities, Channel 5 will be reporting the results of the exams and certain channel employees will be interviewing people ( mostly foreign ninja ) to pass the time and entice some fun. All exam announcements will be made through this channel.

The set consists of one beautifully-crafted wooden desk with a backdrop of the forest canopy outside. One anchor, named "Hiruko Mikan," served as the advisor and personal bodyguard of the head of the country before he retired. Her soft, mellifluous tones entranced many when she first appeared as a news anchor and she has since moved up in the ranks to host her own show as "the Wonderful Yuka-chan." She has a dedicated following and is known for her signature pale red yukata and piercing red eyes that contrast with her milky white skin and coal-black hair.

Televisions throughout the festival would light up with a short, very bland and generic news show opening. "Channel 5" would spin out of the corner of the screen and then shrink down to the opposite corner as the opening ended, revealing Hiruko Mikan at her desk with another one of her famous red yukata.

"Hello, Festival-goers!" she greeted the cameras cheerfully. "Welcome to the first installment of our continuing coverage of the Frozen Festival and Autumn Country Exams! For those of you who don't know me, I am the beloved newscaster famed for her red yukata! Call me Yuka-chan!

"First up on today's news stories is the sudden rash of thefts from the vendors. While we have not taken action against any of the thieves yet, we here at Channel 5 would like to remind all Festival-goers that theft is illegal and we encourage you to find more wholesome activities that won't besmirch the names of your Villages. If theft continues, I have received word that there will be armed guards dispatched to escort those responsible.

"On to the weather! The sun is shining and it's a warm thirty-four degrees outside, but there is a winter storm advisory in effect for the festival that will last from six in the evening until two in the morning. Our weathermen are trying their best to alter this; more news as the situation develops.

"The testing phase is in full swing now, and as contestants start arriving we're beginning to see some interesting faces! Speaking of interesting faces, let's take a look at who's shown up so far with our Gate-o-matic Eye-in-the-sky Heartthrob-finder 3000!"

Pictures of the various contestants who had passed through the Gates flew up behind her as Hiruko turned around in her swivel chair.

"Ooh, look at her!" she cried, pointing at a picture of Nekita. "Those lines! Such an elegant shade of blue! Watch out, folks, we have a runway model on the loose! Now who's next? Oh my... it seems we caught some cool guys on our camera!"

Pictures of Kenta, Zayre, Zero and Hayashi shifted to the front of the photos.

"My heart's all aflutter for the green-eyed heartthrob from Konoha!" she cried upon looking at the picture of Hayashi. "And who's the guy with the horns? Me-yow! Let's not forget the lovely ladies, though!"

The pictures of the men were switched with pictures of Ivilice.

"Who's that cutie-pie with the red dress? I could just eat her up! She's so cute!" A photo of Tsukino came up next toe Ivilice's, prompting the anchorwoman to gasp. "Oh no, a challenger has appeared! Who is this flirty babe, and what is her relationship with the cool guy with the horns?"

A bell rang somewhere in the background, at which point Hiruko (stage name "Yuka-chan", as mentioned earlier) spun around to face the first camera.

"That's all for now! We'll check back in after a few messages from our sponsors!"

"Welcome back, one and all, to Yuka-chan's Super-Awesome-Spectacular News Corner! This marks the second installment of our creepily obsessive coverage of the Frozen Festival and the various Exams going on at the moment!"

A smile came across Yuka-chan's face as she waved at the cameras ecstatically. When she was done, she spun around in her chair once before continuing.

"Today we're going to be talking about some of the places that have been lined up for the second portion of the Exams. While we're not technically allowed to tell you yet what will be happening, nowhere in our contract is telling you all about the rest of the details forbidden! So let's get to it!

"First, let's begin with the Jounin Exams. Here in the Autumn Country we have several important and amazing landmarks that showcase the full range and beauty of our Country. From the cliff-top Torii gate, to the necropolis carved into the side of the mountains and all the way out to the tips of the giant's fingers, nowhere will you find more stunning heights or diverse plants. The questionably natural beauty of these places is rivaled only by the maw of the forest itself, where thousands upon thousands of liters of water cascade into the abyss every day! Don't worry, though: whether you're hunting for treasure or rescuing school children--am I allowed to say that? Ah, screw it--if you fall, the forest's roots will catch you! 'Where does all that water go?' you might ask, and let me tell you, there is absolutely no place on the planet more pristine than the depths of our lowest canyon! Said to be the former home of an ancient civilization, this single spot has garnered more attention for the strange artifacts found among the mud than its equally curious flora!"

"The Chuunin Exams will showcase bits and pieces of bygone eras as well as some of the natural beauty of the Country! The--wait, hold on folks, it appears that I've been issued an order to cease reporting on this very hard-hitting subject, and I'm contractually obligated to follow every single whim of the Leader, so I suppose that will be all for our super-cool coverage of monuments and Country history."

"On to something else! Today we'll be doing another installment of our segment: 'Gate-o-matic Silent-Stalker Super-disguised Harder-to-find-than-the-Higgs-Boson Camera of Loooooove!'"

Photographs of Kodoki Dokijima, Genesis van Hohenheim, and Shimiru Yuki flew up in the background just as Yuka-chan turned to see them.

"Oh my! Check out the green-haired wonder over here! We may have caught her mid-sneeze, but talk about 'doki-doki'!" she cried upon seeing Kodoki's photograph. "The white-haired fella has a cool-looking sword; I wish I could see it in person! The white-haired girl is pretty cute, if shy. I wonder if those two are related?"

Next up were pictures of Alvard Shakuton, Junichi Aburame, and Miyamoto Bastet.

"Oh my! The first guy on our list seems to be in a hurry! Who knows if Professor O. will still have any creatures left to give him? Such contrast between him and this monk-looking guy! So calm and collected... as expected of a Buddhist! We should have him on to bless the--wait, what? No on-air blessings of the participants? I must be really off my game today." She pointed at Junichi's photo when she mentioned him. "Our last lovely lady in the line-up here seems to be... blindfolded! That's quite odd! I wonder if her companion is here to be her seeing-eye pal?"

Next up were pictures of Jae Ketsueki, Kyoishi Inuzuka, Noctis Shinsetsu and Masashi Yuusashi.

"And it's time for the last few pictures of this installment! First up, we have a pink-haired bombshell! I wish I had her hair; it's soooooo beautiful! Next is yet another guy who's in a rush. Listen, guys, it's not very attractive to always be running late, trust me. You can have a dynamite body, personality and mind, but ladies don't dig people they have to pry out of beds in the morning. Be more like our third guy here: cool, collected, piercing blue eyes, hair that looks like it hasn't been washed in a while... okay, maybe not that last little bit there, but still! Our last guy here doesn't seem to be that dominating. Oh, what's this? One of the proctor's runners had to come get him! Man, I would feel terrible if I were that guy, making everyone wait like that! At least the others were running! I wonder if there's a contradiction there... nah."

The pictures disappeared and Yuka-chan swiveled back around to face the cameras across her desk.

"That's all for today, folks! Join us next time, when we'll be discussing cookies, marmalade, a broken statue, and what they may have to do with your stay here in the Autumn Country."

The televisions would come back from a commercial break to a well-hydrated and recently-fed Yuka-chan just as she brushed the crumbs from her lips with a handkerchief.

"Welcome back, one and all, to our continuing coverage of the Autumn Country Examinations and the Frost Festival! So far, the Festival has certainly been living up to its name: temperatures have not risen above freezing since the festivities started! It looks like people have been adapting, although we have received reports of a creepy man lurking in the hot springs! Be careful, ladies!"

"Next we turn our gaze to something more serious: the end of the first stage of the Examinations! The answers have been declassified, so I'll be reading them right here on the air! Only one person managed to get all of the questions correct, so listen up! On the Chuunin Exam, in order, the answers are: Kunai, Unending sand, Calm forests, Hidden waves, Imposing mountains, Year-round snow, Ordinary objects, Same as Normal, the Extinct rock village, Sage’s name unknown. Wow, so cryptic~! Oh, it says that these are just the examiner's notes, so the grading was pretty loose. Chill, folks, if some of your answers don't match up. As for the Jounin Exams: Kage or village or employer, Unending edo tensei, Currently unknown, Hidden group evergreen, Inton (mental) and youton (physical), Your common water, Of course, Shinobi believe 'all of them', Exact or inexact trails, and... I'm not reading the last one, it's too long."

She tossed the papers away, looking annoyed.

"Well, that was needlessly time-consuming and cryptically written! I hope the audience understands how difficult it was to extract that nonsense from shorthand writing!" A cup of water was placed on her desk, so she took a short pause to drink and calm down. When she resumed, her voice was as bubbly and excited as ever. "Alright, on to the fun parts! Over the next several days, we'll be broadcasting direct coverage of the fights instead of commercials so that you, the viewers, can have a week of uninterrupted delight! 'But what are the match-ups, Yuka-chan?' Don't interrupt me! I was just getting there! Oh, but keep listening until the end so you know the rules!"

"It seems that an awfully large number of the Chuunin Exam participants did not show up, paring us down to only five people! Unfortunately, four of those people are from the Leaf, so there will be a three-way battle to decide which of them will be their Village's representative! The fourth person will be fighting against the representative from Sunagakure. And the match-ups are... Alvard Shakuton and Hayashi Mizuumi at the Blessed Lake! The three-way battle of Konoha shall be between Ivilice Takamatsu, Tsukino Kazuki and Kenta Takahashi, and will be held at the Snow Canyon! The competitors from the minor Villages will be going through a difficult pre-Exam to pare their numbers down a bit, but we may yet see a Shinobi from the Grass, Sound, or even Stone Village show up! Good luck all!"

She turned to face a different camera to deliver the match-ups for the Jounin Exams.

"Why, hello there, my lovely Jounin Exam participants. Same deal with the minor Village entrants here, but we can forget about them for now. What's that? You want to hear your match-ups too? Well, then let's get this show on the road! First up, at the Earthen City, are Nekita Matata and--wait, where are these people from? What do you mean you lost the paperwork?! Go find it!--Noctis Shinsetsu! Next, at the Autumn Overlook, are Alzayr Hakemoto and Jae Ketsueki! Kyoishi Inuzuka versus Kodoki Dokijima at the Giant's Grip! Masashi Yuusashi versus the one known as 'Zero' at the Pristine Pools! Good luck, one and all, and prepare for your battles!"

"On to the rules: In the Chuunin Exams, each contestant will have his or her Chakra pool limited to only 100 bits with a time limit of 10 posts, which is our folksy way of saying we'll count down from ten. The three-way battle will get 15 posts to work their magic. As for the Jounin Exams, the rules are even stricter! Each contestant will be limited to only 200 measly bits of Chakra, but will also have access to only ten of their techniques, which they must send to the examiners beforehand! No mid-battle changing! Their battles will last for 15 posts. Oh, and no killing anyone or cheating! Any questions? Go!"

Yuka-chan was fanning herself with a few sheets of paper when the cameras flipped on, and after a moment she turned and saw the light. She nearly jumped out of her skin. After she threw the papers off to one side, a slight blush settled upon her cheeks, but it faded when she started talking.

"Alright, folks, the results are in on the three-way Chuunin Exam fight! First up, Tsukino Kazuki: she was given a 9 on Chakra usage, 6 on strategy, and 4 on style, leading to an average score of 6. Next, Kenta Takahashi: 5 on Chakra usage, 7 on strategy, and 8 on style, earning him an average score of 6. Ivilice Takamatsu: 4 on Chakra usage, 10 on strategy and 7 on style, earning her an average of 7 points. Phew, what a close one! As of right now, Ivilice is the projected winner and will most likely be moving on to the next round of fights. Tsukino and Kenta, if you're watching: Please stick around for the festivities! Who knows, there may be an extra round for you two!"

"Next is a bit of sad news: Nekita Matata seems to have perished in her fight against Noctis Shinsetsu. Currently the situation is being treated as a breach of the rules and Noctis' score has been put on hold. Until new information comes to light on the situation, he will not progress to the next phase of the Exams. The authorities have told us that we are not allowed to comment further until after the investigation."

She clapped and turned to the first to enter and would begin with the general questions: "Alright, so tell us a little bit about yourself! Family, part-time job, marital status, hobbies, and any other fun stuff you can think of! Go ahead!"

[Taka was the first to enter the room and her cheeks turning rosy she began to speak in as graceful voice as she could muster."My name is Ivilice Takamatsu, genin of konoha. I grew up in an okiya outside of fire country as such my sisters were rather competitive.I was the youngest Maiko out of a group of twelve sisters..I moved to konoha when something happened and the Okiya was forced to shut down. Shortly after, I became a full time shinobi and scrape a living together there.. I have been looking into training for other people's companions but i need to get koshi where he needs to be."By this point the Ferret popped its head over Taka's shoulders. She paused and smiled at Koshi. Two clicks emitted from her mouth and the animal climbed over her shoulder to sit in her lap at attention facing yuka."I am life mate to Shizuka Aburame whom unfortunately wont be able to speak with us at the moment. A recent development in my life but a very welcome one. The only hobby i have is working with Koshi but i do enjoy working with him."She clicked four times and squeaked at him and he set off into the room collecting the previously flung papers into a stack and bringing them to yuka. Then he climbed back into Taka's lap and waited in the same manner.

"It looks like you're good at speaking in clickity-clacks! How does one even get that good at something like that? Well, anyways, on to what everyone is wondering: How did it feel to fight that high up during the exam, and how did you even think to summon an ally? Many are calling that a dirty move, but according to our judges, this round it's a-okay!"

I had to remain focused on the opponents i was fighting. They were quite good so the only time i felt issue with the battleground was when i walked onto the field in the first place."Taka rubbed the back of her aid turning another shade of red when she mentioned communicating with koshi."It takes alot of time and effort but Koshi and me read each other very well. Ive had him since he was very little so it just became second nature.Her face then took on a serious tone when regarded about her battle tactics."The rules specifically stated that the combatants were to be Tsukino, Kenta, and myself. Just like my Koshi is a tool as far as judges are concerned, by bringing in Shizuka using that method so was she.If people are complaining about dirty tactics then I should remind them this is an event for shinobi. There have been deaths before and accidents happen all the time. I will not become one of them. I am going to show you something that I have made no secret. I never fight alone."Taka turned her shoulder to yuka and camera, revealing her summoning array tattoo"Shizuka has the same that I do. Kenta made it to the room but would be placed in a little side room to wait for his turn. There was a TV in there and he would be able to hear what his opponent said. So this Aburame girl is suppose to be her lift partner, yet she was nothing more then a tool in that battle? It would be an interesting relationship to say. He had his own views, and if asked about them, he would have to be careful with how he said stuff. Pulling out a flask of sake, he took a sip of it.

"Of course, of course. I think they were sort of hoping for someone with acrophobia when they threw that place in the mix. I mean, really! It's waaaaaay too high for my tastes, y'know?" Yuka-chan clapped her hands and a pitcher of water and some cups were brought out. She immediately took a drink, which was timed conveniently enough that Ivilice was talking while she did so. She was halfway through a second cup when the girl showed off the summoning tattoo, which forced a spit-take at the floor behind the desk and away from the guests. Before the girl could realize it, her tattoo was covered by some papers. "Dang, girl! Cover that up! Don't want any weirdos summoning you out of nowhere, do you? That being said, it's a very lovely tattoo and shows a beautiful bond, no doubt! Last question: What are you feeling, knowing that you won? Do you have any special plans for the second round of fights, or perhaps plans for a celebration with your comrades from the Leaf?"

I in fact do have something very special for the audience for the final rounds. Just keep a very close eye on the cameras. And keep the audio feeds rolling real time. She took a small sip of a liquid from her gourd and put the cork back on it stowing it back in her belt "My opponents were the exact definition of a shinobi. Strong fast and devastating if they were to be deployed. If the match continued i have no idea where i would place but im glad that i had the opportunity to fight them." She stood from her chair and curtsied to yuka politely."Thank you for having me."

"That was the plan!" Yuka-chan responded happily. She waved as Ivilice left and then looked at the other two. "One of you is up! Come on down! Who's next?"

She did a quick spin in her chair as she awaited the next person.

Well since Tsukino was there, Kenta figured that it was his turn. Heading into the room, he took a set and looked at Yuka. He didn't really know if she was going to ask the same questions or not, so he kind of sat there awkwardly. After all he was a ninja, not a news reporter.

Perhaps you've got some tips for all the young boys and girls out there who wish to grow their own horns? You got any hobbies? Etcetera, folks! Etcetera!"
