Porche driver accused of dragging dog to death
Penny Eims, Dog News Examiner
November 23, 2011

"Worthing, West Sussex (UK) - On Monday night, a 33 yr-old man turned himself into police after the discovery of a dog's dead body along the side of A27 on Sunday.

The un-named man went to police following an appeal to the public for information on the person responsible for the dog's horrific death.

The dog, a Beagle/Collie mix, had been dragged behind a vehicle...a vehicle believed to be the man's black Porche Carrera.

Witnesses saw the dog being dragged by a leash - tied to the back of the vehicle - travelling at speeds up to 70 mph.

According to The Telegraph, investigators are pursuing this case as a deliberate act of cruelty.

Tragically, there are indications that the dragging could be tied to a domestic dispute.

The unidentified man is being held on suspicion of animal cruelty.

Rest in peace to this dog, name unknown, who suffered so greatly."

Porche driver won't face charges in dog dragging death
Penny Eims, Dog News Examiner
December 1, 2011

"West Sussex, UK - Even though investigators initially believed that the 33 yr-old driver of a black Porche Carrera deliberately dragged the family dog to his death - there will be no charges.

According to BBC News , that man, who turned himself into authorities on November 21, has been cleared of any potential wrong-doing in the dog's death.

Instead, investigators believe that the man drove over the dog's leash and that somehow, the leash became entangled in the vehicle's undercarriage - leading to what they describe as a "tragic accident".

Investigators were pursuing charges of deliberate animal cruelty based on initial reports that the dog's dragging death may have followed a domestic dispute.

Somehow, after speaking with witnesses and examining the dog's body, they have concluded that the leashed dog was in exactly the right spot to allow the leash to fly up from the ground and get tangled in the vehicle's undercarriage.

The horribly mangled dog was discovered along the side of A27. The dog had been dragged at speeds up to 70 mph for several miles."
