The brown and green cub was out for a morning adventure. What kind of adventure, he was not sure, but it would be fun, he knew that much. His bright green tufts of fur flowed wildly as a gust of wind caught him. He beamed. He loved this place, he couldn't imagine ever leaving it, and he was certainly pleased that many of the rogues were making it their home. He knew it was the best place to live, and now others did too.
Blue eyes looked about to see if anyone was near, but he couldn't spot anyone his own age, and he didn't want to bother any of the older lions. Annoyed that there was no one around he could play with, Bayard sat down on a small rock. Perhaps something would come to him.

The lioness had noticed the cub and watched as he attempted to catch the beetle. She laughed, noting that he had a long way to go before he would be able to catch it. Still, perhaps she could assist him in his hunting skills. After all, she had been a rogue lioness her whole life, she had had to fend for herself and survive, and had picked up many skills along the way, including that of a successful hunt.
It wouldn't hurt, right?
"You, boy," she called out, trying to sound friendly. She was still new, she she didn't want to go upsetting any cubs who would go running back to their mothers.
"You did okay, but I can teach you to be better. If you want?" She smiled, wondering if he would take up her offer.

Bayard listened, why, he hadn't even thought of that! The cub puffed out his chest in pride, like this new piece of information was a grand thing. He'd actually never really thought about his coloring, his family, and many of the others lions in the Pridelands, were bright, but the golden lioness definitely had a point.
He liked her, he decided.
"I will be your apprentice." He nodded, deciding that too. Mnong'ono had no choice, Bayard would be her tail wherever she went.
