Browsing through a old junk shop, Obi uses her magic to light up her list of ingredients.
"....blue grass...bottle beetle shells...a triangle...huh I wonder.."
Wandering to the outside, she sits on a nearby bench to look through the list again.
"So now I have that...all need is a...key of ray?? "

Draft Punk was happy to be out of the house. Taquita and PARTY had gotten into it over his drumming, mostly his drumming on her books. He decided to make a hasty exit and let them work out their differences. He didn't mind being outdoors, it let him find new sounds for his music.
As he walked he came upon an adult phony, a dark mare. Her colors reminded him of PARTY. She was also a unicorn like his Uncle Honey. It was then he recognized the mare as Obi, the female who called him Little Duke. She seemed confused.
"Hello Ms. Obi, what are you doing?"

"Hello Little Duke, I'm trying to figure out the last ingredient for this recipe. I need to find something called a key of ray.."
Obi looked at the list again. Clump of blue grass, a bottle of beetle shells, a triangle, and a key of ray mixed in moonshine light at sundown.

Draft blinked as she talked about a recipe. Like cooking? Draft knew his Auntie Bon Bon cooked...well she baked. He remembered when she tried to cook him a cheese sammich....it was bad. He hopped onto the bench and looked at the list.
"A key of rei? Hmmm. What will this recipe make?" he wondered outloud. But he started to form an idea. The triangle and the key make him think musically. A key? As in a musical key? And rei...was that the note of rei?

"Well Little Duke, I don't know what it will make...that part of the parchment was torn away by the original owner..."
Obi looks at the list again, frowning. The ingredients though ordinary, had a connection with music.
"Perhaps....something that has the key of rei...."

"Yeah I was kinda thinking music. You know...do re mi fa so la ti do," sings in perfect pitch, "like on a piano."
He smiled to himself, he had thought of that already! Though he did wonder what kind of creation would use a sound for an ingredient. Maybe it was a musical bubble bath that played music when you popped the bubbles.

Obi didn't know much about music. She preferred the sound of her potions bubbling then the stuff that....Little Duke's father played. She frowned, thinking hard.

"Hmm...well there are piano keys. They are notes. Or the actual music sheets with the notes written on them," he thought out loud. Draft had all of these things, in fact he had a brand new song he had just written with him at the moment. He had written it for his mother, hoping she would like it and maybe not yell at him so much when he was playihng.

"Hmmmm...." Obi stood up, frowning a bit. "I don't think the shop keeper has anything like that in his shop." She looked back at her list when a thought suddenly came to her. " I got it!! Little Duke, can you sing the scales please?"

Draft watched the female think and agrees that the salesphony wouldn't be selling such items. He wondered how Ms. Obi was going to make her potion if she couldn't figure it out. Then she suddenly asked him to sing the scales.
Now that was something Draft could do, he was a very talented singer and practiced daily. But he wasn't sure how this would help and had his doubts, which kinda made him NOT want to sing. After all singing should be used to create music, not some sort of wierd drink.
"Um...Ms. Obi, how will me singing the scales do anything?"

Obi smiled, pulling a meduim quart jar. In it was a half a quart of golden slime that glowed now and then. "This is one of my mistakes I made. For some reason it can capture sound and keep it for a long while. So while you sing the scales, I can copy the sound of rei....hopefully."

Draft looked horrified all of a sudden. His child like brain had not comprehended Obi's creation correctly. He thought she was going to STEAL his sound. Like take it away for ever and put it in a pot!
"N-n-no. I want to keep my rei sound," he looked away from her and put a hoof over his mouth.

"No, no...you don't get it...." Obi sighed and put the jar back in her basket. "It is like.......how someone makes copies of music sheets from the original....gah! I don't know if that explains it well...it is alright if you don't want to sing...I'll think of something else." She didn't want to scare him and make him fear her like that old witch in a old fairy tale.

Once Obi explained that it was just making a copy and not actually capturing his voice Draft felt a lot better. He felt a little silly for thinking such a thing, you couldn't steal someone's voice. He also felt a little selfish. Very few phonies could sing here in the park and here he was being rude with his voice.
"I'll....I'll sing for you Ms. Obi. I'm sorry. I guess I was just a little scared," he smiled softly and waited for her to get her jar out. He sang the scales beautifully, making sure each note was clear and a bit longer than normal so she would have enough of each key.
"Is that good Ms. Obi?"

Obi opened her jar, letting the sounds wash over the slime. Closing it, she held it up next to /draft's ear. A muffled sound of Draft's note of rei was heard. "It is better then good, it is excellent." Putting the jar and basket down, Obi eyed the streets real carefully before giving Draft a hug. "Thank you."
