It comes down to what the values of the pet are, and what and how you say something. if its against their values, they simply ignore it, and it could break rapport. let say you want an individual to get a beer out of the fridge and chug it, but drinking alchohol is against their values, i would instead say something along the lines of ," now you want to go grab a bottle out of the bottom drawer of my fidge, the bottle is brown glass, and you the label seems very pleasing to the eyes, with a few words on it, those words spell out a name, a name of a beverage you deeply enjoy, and the beverage taste exactly the way it should, it taste so good, you cant help but finish every drop of its contents."
maybe that will help as a general example.
