User ImageThe territory was new....but she liked it. It was just dark enough, just wet enough to...no, she couldn't get into that now, the smell of others was in the air. She cursed her bright coat, making her noticable, too noticable, but she'd still never tell, she'd never tell anyone. She took quiet, deliberate steps, her mind and body quieter than her appearance would ever be.

Lost Oblivion tread softly through the damp underbrush. The musky scent of mildew and rain permeated the air, yet it wasn't unpleasant. It was also quiet, which was a blessing. She wasn't quite sure how she had found herself in this unfamiliar place. The sun was hidden, or would it have been the stars? The trees had grown so entangled with their neighbors it was hard to tell.

Up ahead, she noticed a bright color flittering through the brush. A few paces later she saw it was a very vibrant doe plodding about -- she didn't seem to have any destination.

"Hello," she murmured.

Murky Shallows glanced back at his sister as they walked through the muck. Waiting a moment for her to reach his side again he continued forward. Suddenly he spotted a bright orange doe ahead. Look back at his sister he motioned forward towards the new doe.

Watery Depths stumbled forward towards her brother, pausing a moment to kick the heavy mud off of her hooves. As she looked up she noticed Murky Shallows motioning ahead. Glancing forward she noticed a brightly colored doe just ahead of them. "Who are you?" She said loudly as she walked forward towards the orange doe, her brother following close behind. "I'm Watery Depths. This is Murky Shallows."

Murky Shallows nodded his head in greeting as they reached the other doe.

She was so tightly wound that the sound of sticks breaking and the shout of another voice nearly ran her up the nearest tree. Composing herself, she straightened, taking in the two, no three, blue, dull coats, and envy instantly shot through her.

"I shan't tell, but if it intrigues you, you may call me a mystery, for that is exactly who I am," She spoke in a guarded, cold voice. Paranoia didn't become her.

Watery Depths turned to her brother. "Didn't father always say you're supposed to tell people your name when you meet them? Seems like not everyone does."

Murky Shallows lightly shrugged in response, though before he had time to speak he noticed the other doe they had missed when they first approached. "Hello." His deep voice made his words sound even quieter.

Noticing her brothers gaze going past her, as well as his greeting Watery Depths turned around, finally noticing the second doe. "Hey." She added waiting to see if this doe would introduce herself. She had always been aware that her father was overly polite, but she had thought his rules on introduction had at least made some sense.

It wasn't a moment after she had taken a step into the clearing that two other kimeti, twins by all appearances, entered the scene as well.

"Hello," she echoed. "I see I am not the only one wandering this odd section of the swamp. My name is Lost Oblivion, since it seems we are still on introductions." To her, it seemed like a rather odd gathering that had formed here, in the middle of nowhere. She only hoped they weren't ditzy -- she couldn't stand the lack of restraint some kimeti seemed to wallow in. Lost usually preferred more order, or at least some self-control. Lack of it tended to bring out her more sarcastic nature.

"Pleased to meet you." Watery Depths gave Lost Oblivion a smile, though it didn't seem particularly friendly. Despite her polite manner of speaking, which she had picked up from her father, she always had trouble seeming friendly.

Murky Shallows nodded at the introduction, and unlike his sisters, his smile seemed quite warm despite how small it was. He seemed surprisingly pleasant, even just in stance, especially standing next to his sister, who seemed like she didn't care much for anyone here, expect him.

Lost nodded. All three of the kimeti seemed rather aloof, albeit Murky did appear to be slightly warmer than his female companions.

"What brings you three to this section of the swamp?" she inquired, in an attempt to break the somewhat stilted conversation. "It's an odd little place, I can't say I've ever seen it before."

Watery Depths seemed to smirk. "Father always discusses the interesting encounters he had during his time wandering the swamp, and so we decided to give it a try." After a short pause and a glance around at the others she chuckled. "Guess he was right."

Murky Shallows looked around the area they were in as his sister explained the reason for their presence. This place was very strange, it seemed almost strangled. Like the very life was being forced out of it. "This place is indeed... odd."

Tilting her head and really looking at the sky colored doe, Watery Depths finally noticed some of the more, unique, aspects of Lost Oblivion's fur. "You're glowing!" She said suddenly, stepping forward. "I've never seen something like that." She squinted as though trying to determine the cause of the aforementioned glow. "Is it natural or do you dye it that color?"

Murky Shallows shook his head with a smile and nudged his sister, when she turned to look at him he gave her an 'are you sure you should be doing that' kind of look, stepping a bit closer he placed his head near hers. "You realize that came out rather rude." He told her quietly.

Watery Depths paused for a moment before sighing, looking over at Lost Oblivion again and sighing a second time. "I'm not sure how else to phrase that question." She told her brother, a slight annoyance creeping into her tone.

"Don't worry, it wasn't rude at all. Just curious. But no, it's not dyed. All the color is natural," Lost replied, barely concealing her amusement. "I suppose it is quite unusual. Though I haven't really thought of it before." Her coat twitched, as much of a shrug as most of the kin could obtain.

"Your father sounds quite interesting. He must have encountered many of the fantastic things the swamp offers. Lost had always been interested in the swamp. Not for any romanticized ideals, but more for the reason that the knowledge would be useful. Are you here only because of your father's suggestion? Or were there other reasons as well?" she inquired. "Even this is an large undertaking for just leisurely traveling about."

Smirking at her brother in a triumphant way as Lost told them she didn't actually find the comment rude, she tilted her head in thought when it was explained that the glow was natural. Both her and her brother had a glowing stone like object on their shoulder scales, like their father had on his back, but that was something entirely different when compared to glowing fur!

Murky Shallows just shook his head at his sister, he wasn't surprised that the doe's fur glowed, since he had actually listened to his fathers explanations of other kin and had learned that such things do occur. Smiling softly at the thought of some of the more interesting stories he looked back up at Lost Oblivion as she asked her own question. "While he has experienced less then some, what he has done is quite amazing in it's own right."

Watery Depths looked slightly amused at her brother's comment, while she couldn't argue with her brother, she did agree, she thought his method of phrasing his sentence made their father sound like so much more then what he seemed to her. "It was more of a mutual understanding, though he didn't suggest exactly what we should do." She added, taking it upon herself to answer the doe's question. "You see, father finally got himself a pet recently, and she's still quite wild. He figured it might work better to have some time alone with her to work on training." She looked up at Lost and smirked, though she seemed more amused then anything. "Maybe we can introduce you sometime, I'm sure he'd love to meet you."

Murky Shallows nodded. "Father is very good company." He glanced about the clearing, his eyes finally resting on his twin. "Walks like this seem shorter when you have good company." He smiled at Watery Depths.

Smiling back, a strangely soft look crossing her face, she turned to Lost once more as her normal expression returned. "So, what brings you here? You don't seem to have the distraction of company to guide your feet."

Lost gave a small, dry laugh.

"I was bored," she drawled. "The kin with their foraging and their pets were tedious and I was close to biting of the head of the next meti who wanted to sing songs. Company, usually, is exhausting to entertain and my patience was already to the nub from, well, the others. I've rarely found walks too long."

What she didn't mention was she also thought they were simply all idiotic. Kimeti were a nomadic bunch. Few wars had ever cropped up in the history of the swamp. Intellectuals were becoming synonyms for hermits. And hermits, more often than not, were slightly insane. Admittedly, and insane kimeti was sometimes interesting, but craziness could become repetitive. There is only so much you can do when your mind is completely gone, after all.

Sure, war was terrible and frightening and all that. But Lost was ready to start one herself. Just as long as there was something to do. Anything to do.

Your father sounds very interesting," she picked up, after a slight pause for thought. "I would like to meet him at some point.

Watery Depths nodded, smirking. "I'm lucky enough to have company that's always interesting." She said glancing at her brother, a softer look crossing her face as she did so.

Murky Shallows returned his sisters smile. "As do I." He looked around once again, and as he did so noticed the surroundings seemed less bleak. Odd, maybe it had been the mood causing the tress to seem more crowded, and the grass darker. At least the place was lightening up a bit. He was also glad his sister was finding someone to speak with, it was nice seeing her holding a decent conversation with someone other then him and father.

Pondering Lost's comments Watery Depths looked up at the sky. "While we should probably wait a bit longer before heading back, we could take you with us when we go." She chuckled. "It seems like you have nothing better to do." Glancing around and settling down after pawing the grass a little to flatten it, she glanced up at Lost. "So, any hobbies?"

Murky Shallows chuckled a bit before he glanced at the other doe and softly started flattening grass near his sister. It was quite obvious that while she may have been interested, she was really just trying to keep up the conversation until it was time to head back. He did find her choice of questions a bit strange however, as neither of them really had any hobbies to speak of, and neither did their father.

User ImageShe was thankful she nearly blended in with the murkiness of her homelands. If it wasn't for the spots on her and her eyes, she would look more like mud than anything else. Her hooves were always covered in the green-brown mud of the swamps. Bringing Rain was moving ever so cautiously through the brush, careful not to make too much noise, the dark filly looked this way and that.

Voices. After a few long moments of utter silence, her ears picked up voices off in the distance. Did she dare move over toward them? With an unsure flick of her tail, the filly made her way to them. With all the noise they were making, she prayed she didn't get spotted before she could observe and see if they were going to be too excitable towards her. Rain didn't care for excitable Kin, really. She stuck closest to the ones that were like herself.

Some would call this filly a recluse, but she preferred the term 'selective'. Only she could pick when she wanted to come out. No amount of pressuring would would. She'd remember some, from when she was young, beckoning her out all the time. It just made her a stickler for not getting pressured.

Rain stopped when she was close enough for her comfort zone and peeked out from a bush, silver eyes looking at the crowd that had gathered.

So many. Too many. Mystery was hyperventilating. Never had she been around so many others; it was too much. They were talking too loud, asking too many questions. They were playing like normal, but she knew what they were really after.

Despite the slightly cluttered noise the others were making, with her heightened sense of hearing, she heard yet another. This one was hiding, waiting for a weak moment to strike. She panicked, "THERE"S ANOTHER~!" Realizing her composure was compromised, she tried to calm down and blend like she hadn't said anything at all.
