Itzal was just returning from the roguelands, a small heap of things slung over his back, tied together with a few dozen pieces of tough grass. This had been done with the help of a little mouse he had promised not to eat in exchange for a very sharp rock the mouse had found. It was so nice, he wasn't sure if he would add it to any of his piles. He was a hard worker and had never taken home any of the junk he had found so far. He thought he deserved at least one little shiny rock for himself.
For now, it was ducked away inside a leaf, hidden amongst the other odds and ends of his two bundles. It was a very good haul from the roguelands today. Itzal was pleased with himself. No smile showed on his face to prove to others how he felt, but he knew. That was the only important thing.
Turning a corner, he saw a familiar black and white shape. Ears going forward in curiosity at the limping, the male made a beeline for her.
It wasn't unknown knowledge to the Bone Collector that a war had waged between his pack and the Pridelands while he was gone. He was sad he missed it, but these things couldn't be helped. It seemed apparent Skada had been present to this epic battle.
"Well...Look who the lioness dragged in," he teased, smirking easily in her direction. He should avoid her, he knew. But since she was already in his path, he thought a little diversion couldn't hurt. The other creatures in the roguelands were most uninteresting to the old Hyena.

Itzal faced the female stare for stare. He was in no mood for a fight, either, but he returned the aggressive glare. It was still difficult for him to listen to a female pack leader, let alone let a regular member dominate over him, even for one instant. He'd spend too long in the roguelands, depending on himself. The smile still touched his lips, giving his face an almost sinister appearance.
"Maybe if it was a younger or inexperienced lioness," he argued back. "Or from one of those prides that pampers the females or the royals. But I'm well aware of where this one came from." If there was one thing Itzal paid attention to, it was the hostility between the two lands. He had avoided trouble thus far.
And apparently he had avoided the worst of the trouble. The patch of discolored fur on one side of Skada's side told a story of the fierce battle. As did the injuries some of his other pack members were sporting. It was indeed a huge pity he had missed it.
"Perhaps you should have a professional look at that," the male commented, leaning one way to get a better look. There was almost a note of concern in his voice, a very small hint of it.

Skada didn't think she'd ever get in a one-on-one fight with a lioness again, no matter how young or stupid it was. The one she'd fought had been old and slow for a lion and it hadn't been easy.
"This one was old," Skada said, "For a fit one I would have wanted more hyenas on my side."
And that was as close as Skada would ever get to admitting that she couldn't do everything on her own. Only now did she realise that she had exposed another weakness too. She fought the impulse to hide her injury again. He had already seen it, the damage was done and she might as well pretend she had flashed the wound on purpose.
"They've looked at it," she said and huffed, "I'll live, apparently."
She hoped it wouldn't scar, but there was no telling if it'd just heal or if it'd heal well. She sat down and hated herself for doing it. But her injury made her tire more easily and it would have been more humiliating to keel over.
"So, what have you been up to," she asked.

Itzal, on the other hand, now that he had brought up the subject, was a little less unsure of whether he would ever fight a lion one on one. The males, definitely not. Itzal himself wasn't as young as he used to be, though he was still just as strong. Or so he liked to say. He got a better workout within the pack than he ever did living alone. Gathering items wasn't an easy task by yourself. 'Specially when you hoarded as badly as he did. Large stacks of junk, too many to count on one's paws, littered his residential area. No one was allowed to touch it, or even so much as sniff it. He had a few sacks built just for his body to help him transport everything.
"And what happened to the other guy?" the male continued to ask casually, the small smile still plastered on his face. He wasn't too concerned about the wound on Skada's shoulder. She had plenty strength to be snarky at him, as she always did. Clearly it didn't pain her too much to close her mouth.
Itzal wasn't too happy by her sitting, despite the smile on her face. His own muscles were sore from carrying all this weight on his back. But his untrustworthy nature wouldn't allow himself to let it drop to the ground and possibly spill his junk for prying eyes. More so when those prying eyes were the eyes of another Bone Collector. Skada would know the value of some of the pieces on his back just as good as he did. If not, she made a poor collector. And should rethink a new rank.
"Not getting myself nearly killed, that's for certain. What ruffled the Prideland's feathers this time?"

Hoshi Lockhart SO sorry for the delay in tagging
Itzal was probably underestimating the amount of pain it would take to shut Skada up, but it was true that she wasn't too badly hurt. But with her stubbornness she'd probably have snarked at him even with her dying breath.
"He faced the sharp end of a lioness," Skada said and then clammed up on the subject. She wasn't going to elaborate since she didn't know what had happened. He was probably dead since he wasn't back yet, but she supposed there was still a chance that he'd show up eventually. Skada was almost feeling a little bit guilty for leaving him behind, but she didn't like that feeling so she seized the opportunity to change the subject.
"Pity," she said, "Nearly dying might cheer you up a little."
Skada's mood and manners hadn't changed much after her lioness fight, so her reasoning was a bit flawed.
"The lions," Skada snarled, "You know about that lion cub Mafuu picked up? Well, some young uppity lions tried to torture one of our young too and one of them was killed... I guess it kind of went to hell after that."

Hoshi Lockhart Pride is temporarily disbanded, but since everything is still here I'll reply here. Didn't see this coming from Skada... Silly hyena. We could probably fade this out (she'll try to follow him around until he makes her stop or until a bone setter drags her away...) or continue if you want to smile
Skada had always thought the stupid "holier than thou" pridelanders were just hypocrites, and this incident had proved her right. They weren't above torturing cubs, obviously, and she didn't pity the lion punk that got killed because of it. They weren't better than hyenas. If anything they were worse. Hyenas didn't pretend to be all goody-goody. She was about to say this to Itzal, when he opened his mouth and had to make her angry again. He had been the one starting to bother her, and she had just minded her own business up until that point.
"I'm bothering you?" she asked, nostrils flaring dangerously, "I'm bothering YOU? That's it!"
If she had been completely healthy she would probably had attacked him, and she was very tempted to do so despite her wound. Instead she willed herself to calm down and limped closer to the other hyena. He'd have a good view of her healing wound, but she didn't care.
"Go on," she said, now nearly close enough to touch noses, "Work. Don't let me stop you."
She'd show him what it meant to be "bothered" by Skada. She'd follow him around the entire day, or until she dropped dead. It wouldn't be pleasant to anyone, but it'd be worth it to teach this big mouthed male a lesson.
